Oh and if you come home with that PCB I want, I will actually cry. Not telling what it is though as I hope the shops still have it when I finally get to go to Japan in July (yes it's finally happening as of this week!). So let's see if you guess what it is and come home with it. :)

How mad is the world that I consider my 32" lcd a small to medium tv and 21" of any variety utterly unacceptable?

Acceptable depends on what you have to work with though, as you can see below I'm not going to be able to house a 29" Trinitron & a 50" Plasma, as much as I'd love to.

Any ideas where I'd fit them?

    jtm3gy.jpg
Incidentally I was in the Sony Centre in Dundrum on Wednesday evening and got a demo of a 60" HD 3D Bravia, it was seriously impressive, aside from the picture being ludicrously sharp the 3D was actually very impressive. All I need now is 3.5k for the telly €60 a throw for all the sets of glasses I'd need for my mates and a proper station broadcasting in 3D and I'd be well sorted.

Yeah, try run an NES on it & tell me its a thing of beauty.

Hooked up the Dreamcast to the candy last night and had a bash at a few games, mostly Soul Calibur and a selection of shmup's.

The Dreamcast looks great on the arcade monitor via vga I must say :)

    Hey Steve,
This is next on my agenda.
How did you go about hooking it up?
Haven't really looked into it yet.
I see ya can buy dreamcast vga cables with audio outputs on them.
I could then just wire that to an amp connector and plug into speakers, same as xbox?

    vgacable.jpg

Controls wise I was thinking of those dream PCBs you can buy on Akishop to make things tidy

I used this DC VGA box with audio out and sent the audio to my pc speakers that are already installed alongside the normal arcade speakers in the cab.

Control wise I just used the joypad but am looking into maybe getting some hacked dc pads or something else, not sure yet.

Finally picked up a CF reader today. Just popped a bit of G-Darius on to de-stress from the Ibara punishment. :)

My Dodonpachi Resurrection arrived during the week and I played a heck of a lot of it. Retrowise I've been playing Street Fighter II Thirsd Strike, various version of Street Fighter II and Ridge Racer Type 4 and its superb "bonus" disc. Have to say that the Ridge City track is the best level in the whole series - can't get enough of it even after all these years.

Anyway, I walked into GAME the other day and had a nose to see how much they were selling Dodonpachi for - €40 unsealed  I got mine online for about €33 inc. shipping sealed. I had a bit of a look to see what else was on the shelf and noted that someone had cut themselves and wiped blood on the tops of several of the games on the shelf. Kind of disgusting to be honest. Is it any wonder people like their games sealed and actually "new", as opposed to being sat out on a shelf with loads of people handling them, kids with dirty ice-cream covered hands, etc. on them, and the disc sat in the drawer getting all scratched up and covered in saw dust. Thats pretty much it for me now - I'm finally getting my stuff online now all the time, bar the odd bargain. Sealed and cheaper for the win!

99.9% of what I buy is done online. Why pay more? I'm happy enough to wait 2-6 weeks for items to arrive. Longer if needed... Hello Sturmwind!

If it says its "delivered" it could be at your local post office depot. I remember over the summer waiting for a parcel from Japan, and then I noted a delivery docket amongst a load of junk mail to the side of the front door - games were in the post office for nearly a week! Don't know how I missed it

Could be. Our front hall is a mess. The postman usually just drops it in the window though even when it's a signed for!
They said it was delivered to Kendrick on the 9. What the hell is Kendrick?!
Anyhow I think it's lost. Getting nowhere with Hermes. And the seller ain't doing anything much. It's coming up to the 45 day mark on eBay. Is there any point when it shows delivered with the tracking number.

Any way playing marioland and it is a super nostalgic experience. First Nintendo was a gameboy with that and tetris oh and megaman 2.

Super game. Neat ideas again. The side scrolling shooting stages in mario! They should of utilised that a bit more in later games.
A lot more variety with enemies too.
Some tricky little stages missing jumps.
Music is welcome change from the usual mario jingles and I think I like the star music more.

    'Fireball Mario! Yes!'
'Your going to pay turtles. Eat fireball!'
flaming ball of death bouncing in front of said turtle and bounces harmlessly into the atmosphere* . Major fail

*takes out space station which crashes to ground in mushroom kingdom causes devastation. Knocks the toadstool regime off it's perch, inflation spirals wildly, toads cannot meet mortgages, totally economic collapse, mass unemployment, mass protests, riots, demonstrations, bowser wins in a land slide vote in elections and he finally legally takes control. Mario is an outlaw. Hunted! Old friends are new enemies. His world is turned upside down. No longer welcome in the card halls or mushroom shops. Collecting coins give him no benefits, he know needs a million for a 1up. Yoshi and his friends are being farmed on massive collectives. Tracked and hunted relentlessly and with no where to turn but to an old foe, he teams up with wario to take on the devilishly corrupt and lavishly decadent moola reign.
Super Mario Revolution! This time it's underground!

Playing NHL '94 atm on Megadrive. Loving it.

Don't think I played it as a kid. I instead had EA Hockey (NHL '91) and played that to death back in the day :D

    HAHAHA!

NHL (Or EA Hockey as it's known to use Europeans) on the Megadrive is the ONLY EA sports game worth playing. It's brilliant.

The rest aren't even fit to use as replacement clamshell cases. Damn EA and their stupid oversized carts :(

I am equally splitting my time between retro and modern gaming, that is to say I'm playing through Halo: Anniversary. I start a level, play for a few minutes, press select - graphics revert to 2001, play some more, press select - graphics return to 2011 and are great, play somemore etc...

    What fun I have :)

Had a good bash of "Darius Burst Another Chronicle" today in Tokyo(in "Hey Arcade" just off Akihabara).

That is one nice looking screen/machine :D

It's not far from my hotel so I might head back in the morning if I have the time.

    Saturn scart arrived today!!

Had to rummage for a step down as I haven't used one in months. Found one under the bed.

Climbed up on top of the wardrobe to get the Jap Saturn stick.

Scrambled for Radiant Silvergun and Panzer Dragoon Saga. (super sekkret hidden location)

    Hooked it all up.

It powered on! Seems 6 months in an attic didn't do it any bad.

What's this? There's a game booting? Ah! I left Souky in it when I stored it away, didn't even realize. /happyface

    Game freezes.

    'Ye wha?'

    /Reboot

    Game freezes.

    'What the ****?!!?!!?'

Tore Souky out of the console and flung Radiant Silvergun in. (As carefully as someone could possibly 'fling' Radiant Silvergun)

    Game boots.

    /Baited breath

    PRESS START!

    Nothing.

'AH!!!! WHAT THE MOTHER****ING WHAT AH!!! IS THIS CONTROLLER BROKEN?! IT COST ME A FORTUNE BUT I COULDN'T TEST IT! AHHHH!!!! MAYBE THE SATURN BROKE IN THE ATTIC!!! AH!!!!! I CANT BELIEVE I WAITED SIX MONTHS FOR THIS ****!!!!'

    About to fling console away.

'...oh wait...all the turbo buttons are flicked on.'

    :o

/Turns turbo buttons off - It all works perfect.

I don't know why, but I always abosolutely freak out like you wouldn't believe when **** like this happens.

Dramaz aside, Radiant Silvergun and Souky are an absolute dream with this stick. It's most definitely a Seimitsu. Worth the wait!!!

stuck at home last 2 days looking like the elephant man due to absyss in mouth.
perfect oportunity to play the crap outa guardian heroes on my cab.
the game has stood the test of time brilliantly..I hadnt played it since original version.
Visuals(original not remixed) and gameplay are as fresh as ever.

So many brilliant ideas introduced well before their time.
long may this affliction last :)

This is by far the best arcade in Tokyo. Has something for everyone. Highly recommended for anyone who visits Japan! The range of games on offer (especially for beat em up and shmups fans) is borderline ridiculous.

I'm going to Japan in July. Got my time booked off work and everything now. Can't wait!

As for what I'm playing right now. I took a break from Ibara. The scoring mechanics are wrecking my head. The moment I have them figured out something throws a curveball at me and I need to start again.

I'm a sucker for difficult games so I spent some of last night playing Night Raid on G-Net. :D

Can't say what I'm playing right now but it's out tomorrow and Sparks has one too, and, no it's not a penis...

I'm finding the controls, at times, a pain, the Wii really, really needs a second analog stick!
