that place had a fast food place attached to it as well (BK wasnt it - or Supermacs?) and that closed the same time did it?

Is that gonna open up again as well?

    It was SuperMacs.

They've taken over big time, Applegreen.

Yep and this will make #4

(Not that this is in town lol - could probably include the manor one at that too)

    This ^

I hear some people saying that it's gonna be burger king or Subway which will be taking it's place. But that's purely high stool chat nothing more..

I do know that the the previous owners had it for sale for just over 6 million before they closed down and couldn't get it sold, due to the new bypass been in the pipe line.

Not an opening, or a reopening exactly, but just seen Centra in Mauagheraboy is getting a massive refit. Had a peep at the plans on display up there today, they look unrecognisable compared to the current layout.

Good luck to Des and all the staff up there.

Looks like a massive development What are they going to do about parking, though? It's a disaster as it is.

It's been a while. There was a time they were redeveloping it every few weeks. Was a mission just to find the tills.

They've been building out the back, so will have a lot more space to work with now. Obviously not enough to address his joke of a car park though..

So any shops opening or reopening?

Right folks, I think this has gone a wee bit too far now. We're not going to discuss an individual here and Id like to see people get back to posting on topic again. Off topic posts have been removed.

    Cheers

The town can barely sustain the amount of coffee shops in town at the moment, so this increases the strain on ones already in the town, and you can bet it'll be a local shop keeping the money in Sligo that'll suffer first.

Do you really think a company like Insomnia (as Irish as they are) who already have one in town give a flying **** about the local economy, other than to get as much money out of it as possible?

I thought more that they would close the unit in Quayside!!!

  • Registered Users Posts: 11,723 ✭✭✭✭Andy From Sligo

always a busy little place that in the quayside - i got a feeling they will move no, they surely cant have two locations running can they ? - but look whats happened to eason thats got 2 shops

  • Registered Users Posts: 7,175 ✭✭✭dee_mc

Isn't there talk of building work to change the entrance to Quayside? Presumably that'd effect their business, so maybe they're moving as a result? Two of the same coffee chain within three minutes walk of each other sounds a bit crazy!

yes thats true, could be to do with the building to the new entrance to the quayside

  • Registered Users Posts: 11,723 ✭✭✭✭Andy From Sligo

If it's moving then fine, can't see why the pumped money into where they are now then in that case, surely they knew the plans to develop the entrance before doing the works in that building?
