This was originally supposed to be a dance composition but it turned out to be a pop one.

This is not the confirmed vocals as this is a demonstration to show how it will be sung by Yasmin B. Smith in a few months. Hope this is better than the instrumental version!

Yes I know, it was demonstration. I know my singing is absolutely ear killing.

Easily the best of the lot you've put up so far. Has a nice jazz vibe to it and sounds work well together. Apart from that edm style section at 1.31-1.57. That has no place in the track.

This is an awesome track which should be more popular!

If you mean derivative, poorly mixed, and Casio keyboard sounds, then I agree.

I think you should stick to posting 3rd party tracks in the 'Track of the Day' forum

Hey Shane. Glad to hear from ya. I was wondering where you'd gone!
Germany sounds great. Seems to be a good location for getting inspiration from the techno/house muse!

I got a very movie/tv show atmosphere from the first beats. Nice reverb going on although sounds a little overdone at times. I like the simple piano keys played off against the DnB percussion. Wicked bass pad there as well, especially love that high note played every now and then.
The drum programming is great throughout and there is a nice balance of subtle hits in amongst the full body of the track.
    Very enjoyable.

so, Im back with a new track!

i think i might swap out the main lead with a vocal sample instead...i dont know yet, but i feel like its still missing something...there some rhythmic stuff i could probably do with it... any suggestions?

on a mixing level, i feel like its an improvement on my old stuff

Awesome track, reminds me of machinedrum tracks.

Like Mordeith said, bit of an overkill on the reverb though.... I think some sort of vocal sample would fit in nicely in the track

My little brother's own made dance track

    https://soundcloud.com/sryan-bruen/dj-ryano-inversion

Please be at least honest with him as he is only a beginner and I think it's very good for a beginner at least.

Not too bad for a beginner as you say. Fairly typical EDM style sounds in the main parts although the big synth melody is decent . The arrangement needs a bit of work as it's hard to see where the track is going. Mixing needs work as well. The kick and bass get lost when the track is in full effect.

Nice track here Shane. Lovely synth string melody and the hats have a great groove to them. The bass pad is well implemented and sits well in the mix with the kick and other elements.
I'd agree with replacing the main high melody. Not necessarily with a vocal but definitely something with a better 'sound'

thanks mordeith...ill get back to that track another time....ive just begun a long process of learning this week, and im not going to stop untill i can reproduce 90% of the electronic music i hear from scratch.... ill spend 10 hours a day doing this if a need to...only stopping to work or go clubbing (which in essence is essential in understanding the musics context ;) ofcourse )

This is the second track I've written. https://soundcloud.com/mrendatious/track-two

It's amazing how little I can even imagine musically. I (along with most of the world) have been listening to music all my life, but if you asked me to come up with something musical that track is the kind of thing I produce. Even trying to think of melodies or beats from any song I've heard leaves me stumped. Trying to think how different parts of a song transition is even worse. And that's before I get to synthesis or programming anything. It's no surprise given the stage I'm at, having just downloaded a DAW on Friday but even though I'm just starting I still have the ability to get to the end point of it and upload a track to soundcloud. I don't think I've been in such alien territory in years. It's good fun though, and nice to be challenged. And I'm listening to the podcasts and it's occurring to me about layering sounds, and adding the bits that really build up the atmosphere of the song. All this is certainly making me think.

I presume that's not a full track? To me it sounds like a snippet from something larger and just an intro at that. Of course you could be going for a minimal vibe, but in general it comes across as a basic loop.
There is a very 8-bit-esque style to the sounds used, which again if that is what you are going for, sounds good. You could do with smoothing the automation curve on the volume fade of the keys, as it's a bit jagged coming in.
The whole track itself is a bit flat, but this is something every beginner struggles with. Learning about mastering and mixing will improve this no end as well as using effects wisely (reverb, chorus, delay etc.) Of course there are tons of other fx but it's a good idea to get the basic ones down well as they alone can do wonders for the atmosphere of a track as well as thickening sounds without the need for layering (which can cause issues with EQ'ing later on).
I'm saying all this with the caveat that I am in no way accomplished in any of the stuff I've talked about above! However from listening back to my early efforts I can see that I have definitely improved drastically on those early Fruity Loops (back when it was called that!) productions. It's a constant learning curve and an enjoyable one at that. I think the ability to be able to look back at past work and realise the errors you made marks good signs of progress.

Nice track Shane, mixing is great and all the sounds work well together. The only problem was that I wanted to turn the volume up more.Yyou could maybe add in a vocal sample to complement the percussion and leave the main lead in, that's just my opinion :)

im loving the bass line and some of the sounds used...but it feels just abit messy mid way through, like theres just abit too much going on, between the vocal sample, marangas and deep bass sound...it feels like theyre all fighting for the spotlight, if that makes sense?

'Flat Dance', I think the title gives the whole song away :pac:. Yes I know, I don't particularly like this by me myself.

A deep and melancholy intro which gave way to a (surprisingly in my view) upbeat housey number. The bassline is really good, which I think could be used as the main element in a more stripped down version (a la MK). I prefer the feel of the track from 3.54 to 4.10. I think (as Shane says above) that there is a bit too much going on in full sections. Having said that, there's a nice roundness to the sounds and I think the mixing is pretty decent as well.

that beep beep beep in middle of the track, i have to admit i thought it was a copyright watermark..... loving the drop! really well done and mixed but the beep is just really annoying.. if you really want to keep it, maybe mix it in abt better, take out some of the sustain in it and some of the harmonics maybe....

From about 2 mins onwards the track is great though!
