Total noob here, been getting to grips with my DAW, learning the basics of sound design and mixing (only started learning about EQ'ing) for the past 2 months, and this is my first track. Any criticism would be really appreciated. Going for a laidback vibe, hence the name.

    Thanks!

Certainly has a laid back feel. I think the string stabs are too high in the mix compared to the percussion. The kick itself is a bit weak and the hats as well need some eq to bring them up a bit. The clap again is a bit too prominent in relation the the rest of the perc. The string pad is nice although a little bit of modulation might add some interest.

That brought me back! Definitely caught the old skool (reminded me of some mid 90s speed garage).
Like the main melody and the shadow bass notes. I think a more organic clap might work well if layered with existing. I'm on the fence with the vocal. I preferred the shorter snippets.
Brought a smile to my face overall.

Really in to the old school stuff lately. I agree with you about the vocals alright; I suppose they're there as a filler really. :pac:
    Glad you liked it! :)

This is a preview of my track called 'In To Deep'. Not much more left to do I think, a few different risers will be thrown in there I'd say. Because it has that repetitive style, any feedback for the work flow would be excellent! :D

I always had a soft spot for some commercial trance and this fits the bill nicely there. I think your noise riser could do with a bit of softening as it sounds a bit harsh in places. The bass could maybe do with being a bit lower in the mix and the hats are very dull so some eq there would bring them out a bit.
Nice feel to the track as a whole.

Very MK from the first bass notes. Nothing wrong with that in my view.
High arpeggiation is a nice counter balance to the solid bass and kick. I think the hats are slightly too high in the mix but only in the 3-5% range.
Love that vocal and there's a great groove overall in the track. Couldn't really see anything wrong with the arrangement from my perspective.

Thanks! Yeah definitely MK & DJ S.K.T inspired, love their sound. Nice one about the percussion, only realised they stick out a bit much after you mentioned it! :)

Thanks, I need to boost the quality of a lot of my tracks, still so much I don't know about on fl studio.

I'll take that critique and have a go at making it better before I upload it again. Thanks!

I use Fl Studio myself. Always learning new things! That's what's great (and frustrating) about production, there's always some new skills to master.

I'd say I know how to use 10% of what's available on FL properly. One thing I find annoying is when I've finished a track, rendered it, listened to it back and somehow it doesn't sound exactly like it did when I was editing it on FL.

Anyway, I need some soundcloud friends :D soundcloud.com/markmurphy2007

I haven't posted here in a while, so I tried to make sure this is good enough for at least a 6/10 rating. It has a bit of dance element, especially towards the chorus. Again, looking for a singer so it is only instrumental.

Just tried to make some disco, disco house track. I'll try later to find suitable accapela or some vocal samples.

    Enjoy.

    Enjoy.

You've got the funk down there.
Nice guitar loop and you've worked the brass and string elements in well. I think the kick is a tad flat but only a minor thing really. I think the snare could use a small but of extra body as well but overall a groovy little number.

Something that I've been working on recently, house and techno vibe to this one.

That bass growl is just epic. Worked well into the bassline proper too. There's a real groove going when all the perc kicks in.
I gotta say I'm not a fan of the metallic keys. IMO they soften the overall pumping vibe to the track rather than adding to the deep techno tones.
I suppose you could have gone either way the last 2/3 of the track. I guess I would have rather it continued the style of the 1st section.

Here's a couple of remixes and a new musical piece to lend an ear to.

Really nice melody! Mysterious chill vibes. I'm not to sure about the lead instrument but that's just me. In general the mix seems a bit flat and I don't hear or feel any low end. You could try fattening up your kick and bring your percussion out a bit more in the mix with sidechaining so that they flow and fit together tightly, just to give it more of a dance groove. The pad in the background is very chill, some more variation or automation would add a progressive element to it. Again, great melody, keep up the work!

To echo WasterEx I think the melody and bassline are pretty sweet. The synths are a bit preset though. They could do with a bit of filtering or something justto give them a bit more presence. I'm referring mainly to the high pitch plucky synth. Nice feel to the track as a whole though.

Prefer this to the remixes. You've managed to get that old skool synth style have a modern edge which is impressive.

The French sample is very cool. Nice bassline although I think it might need a bit of eq to reduce some muddiness. Good progressive feel to the track.
The percussive elements that come in around 5.18 are a bit loud in the mix I feel.
