Saturday, 7 June, 2025 __ Forecasts for Ireland

TRENDS ... It will gradually turn warmer all week, and the unsettled theme will continue to some extent although it will be more confined to the north before becoming widespread again by Friday and next weekend.

    FORECASTS

TODAY will be quite cool with northwest winds increasing later to about 40-60 km/hr. Any lingering rain this morning will become drizzly before slight clearing takes place, but then bands of showers will develop and some could be rather heavy with thunder. Highs only 13 to 16 C.

TONIGHT cloudy with a few breaks, some showers continuing but not as heavy, lows 8 to 11 C.

SUNDAY will turn rather warm and humid across the south with outbreaks of rain across central and some northern counties, highs will reach 18 or 19 C in the inland south, 16 or 17 C central, 13 to 15 C in Ulster and parts of Connacht.

MONDAY variable cloud, further outbreaks of light rain in north mostly, lows near 12 C and highs 18 to 21 C.

TUESDAY variable cloud, chance of showers, warm. Lows near 12 C and highs 19 to 22 C.

WEDNESDAY sunny intervals, isolated showers, lows near 10 C and highs 19 to 23 C.

THURSDAY variable cloud, showers and thunderstorms developing, lows near 14 C and highs near 21 C.

FRIDAY showers and thunderstorms, a few sunny breaks developing across the south, lows near 15 C and highs 20 to 22 C. The following weekend will likely continue somewhat unsettled but fairly warm still. A slightly more variable pattern is possible thereafter but earlier guidance had been showing heat developing across Ireland and Britain, and that trend could return to model runs again later today.

My local weather on Friday was partly cloudy and very warm with highs close to 30 C. It's going to be hot this weekend and into the first half of the following week in this region, with valleys well into the 30s, and low 30s at my elevation.

Sunday, 8 June, 2025 ___ Forecasts for Ireland

TRENDS ... A rather cloudy week, with rain more confined to northern counties, and gradually increasing temperatures, rather humid also.

    FORECASTS

TODAY will be cloudy with a few brighter intervals in the south, occasional rain across the north. Highs 15 to 18 C south, 13 to 15 C north.
TONIGHT partly cloudy to overcast, lows 5 to 10 C.
MONDAY variable cloud, some showers developing, highs 17 to 19 C (15 to 17 C north where rain may become heavy at times).
TUESDAY partly cloudy, a little warmer, showers mostly confined to northern counties. Lows near 10 C and highs 17 to 21 C.
WEDNESDAY sunny intervals, warmer, some showers or localized thunderstorms could develop by afternoon. Lows near 12 C and highs 19 to 23 C.
THURSDAY and FRIDAY will be warm and humid with occasional showers and risk of thunderstorms. Lows near 14 C and highs 20 to 23 C.
WEEKEND of 14-15 JUNE will start out unsettled with highs 18 to 21 C on Saturday, then become more settled on Sunday with showers isolated, highs near 20 C.
Rather warm for a few days into the following week, then possibly turning slightly cooler as a weak northeast flow develops. However some guidance earlier was returning to the alternate theme of a more sustained warm spell, so not too confident which way this actually develops, a daily cycle of variable guidance has been ongoing for several days.

My local weather turned quite hot with sunshine and highs into the low 30s (mid 30s at lower elevations).

Monday, 9 June, 2025 __ Forecasts for Ireland

TRENDS ... A gradual warming trend will develop this week with rain not as frequent in the south and some central counties, but continuing rather unsettled further north. Heavier rain will return around Thursday and Friday, possibly persisting into Saturday. Temperatures will rise to several degrees above average. The following week could feature some even warmer temperatures at times but this could be confined to the inland southeast.

    FORECASTS

TODAY will be mostly cloudy and a little warmer in parts of the south, where highs could reach 18 to 20 C. Occasional rain further north will become heavier at times by afternoon, with isolated thunderstorms possible, highs 14 to 17 C there.
TONIGHT variable cloud, a few remnant showers, fog patches, lows 8 to 10 C.
TUESDAY variable cloud, a few showers, also some brief sunny intervals, highs 17 to 20 C.
WEDNESDAY sunny intervals and quite warm, scattered showers and thunderstorms developing later afternoon and evening. Lows near 12 C and highs 19 to 23 C.
THURSDAY to SATURDAY will be unsettled, warm and humid with daily outbreaks of showers and thunderstorms, as disturbances rotate around an upper low drifting north near the west coast. Highs each day 18 to 22 C, and nights quite mild (13 to 16 C).
SUNDAY may see some improvements with more frequent sunny breaks, highs near 19 C. NEXT WEEK has the potential to see very warm air moving north into at least some parts of the inland south and east, along with southern and central England and Wales. This may not persist all the way through the week, and warmer air may not reach some parts of the north and northwest. Highs may range from 18 C north to 24 C inland southeast.

My local weather on Sunday was sunny and hot with highs near 34 C, even hotter in lower elevations nearby. This will go on for several more days before we get a cool front moving in mid-week.

Tuesday, 10 June, 2025 __ Forecasts for Ireland

TRENDS ... Rather cloudy but turning warmer, generally dry today and Wednesday, widespread showers and some thunderstorms possible Thursday to Saturday, then dry again Sunday.

    FORECASTS

TODAY will be cloudy with a few sunny breaks, generally dry although isolated and brief showers possible, highs 16 to 20 C.

TONIGHT will be partly cloudy with fog patches developing, lows around 8 to 10 C.

WEDNESDAY sunny intervals, warmer, isolated showers or thunderstorms could develop late in the day, highs 17 to 22 C.

THURSDAY and FRIDAY warm and humid, widespread showers and risk of thunderstorms, inland eastern counties at risk of locally heavy rainfalls 30-50 mm. Lows 10 to 14 C and highs 18 to 22 C. SATURDAY variable cloud, showers and thunderstorms, lows near 15 C and highs near 21 C. SUNDAY sunny intervals, showers more isolated and most places could remain dry, lows near 12 C and highs near 19 C. MONDAY will bring another frontal system with showers and thunderstorms, lows near 12 C and highs near 20 C. The weather for the following week looks more settled as high pressure takes up a position near Ireland, temperatures are likely to be slightly above average with highs near 20 C or into the lower 20s at times, but any strong heat is likely to be suppressed well to the south.

My local weather on Monday was sunny and record-breaking hot, for this relatively early portion of summer at least, not quite as severe as the 2021 heat dome when we broke 44 C locally, closer to 35 C (38 C in valley locations). -

Wednesday, 11 June, 2025 __ Forecasts for Ireland

TRENDS ... Warmer and quite humid, frequent showers and thunderstorms returning by Thursday, but another dry interval to follow by Sunday.

    FORECASTS

TODAY will be partly cloudy with some warm sunny intervals developing, some cooling from sea breezes near south and east coasts, but highs inland 20 to 22 C. Isolated showers may develop late in the day.

TONIGHT becoming overcast, humid, rain near east coast at times. Lows around 14 C.

THURSDAY outbreaks of heavy rain and thunderstorms in eastern counties, scattered showers and thunderstorms less widespread further west. Highs 18 to 22 C.

FRIDAY showers and isolated thunderstorms, warm, humid. Lows near 15 C and highs 20 to 22 C.

SATURDAY showers and isolated thunderstorms, lows near 14 C and highs 18 to 21 C.

SUNDAY and MONDAY sunny intervals, highs near 20 C. The rest of next week could turn a bit warmer with sunshine except for some cloud from weak fronts near west and north coasts where some brief outbreaks of rain may occur, otherwise some places will have a welcome respite from the rain, highs could reach 22-24 C.At times it will be even hotter in parts of southern England (28 to 31 C) and definitely quite hot in continental Europe next week.

My local weather on Tuesday was also quite hot under sunny skies, highs once again in the 30s. We are seeing a slow increase in higher cloud now and Wednesday should be the end of this heat wave with thunderstorms moving in by this evening.

Thursday, 12 June, 2025 __ Forecasts for Ireland

TRENDS ... Intervals of heavy rain today to Saturday, then a clearing trend, warm and dry next week.

    FORECASTS

TODAY will bring outbreaks of heavy rain to Leinster, moving towards west Ulster. Some falls of 30 to 50 mm are possible with thunderstorms and resulting flooding of small streams especially in the vicinity of higher terrain in the southeast. In other regions, more scattered showers and 10 to 20 mm falls likely. Highs 15 to 18 C in heavy rainfall zones and east Ulster, 18 to 20 C in the south and west.

TONIGHT mild and humid with further showers, lows 12 to 15 C.

FRIDAY variable cloud, a few showers and isolated thunderstorms, generally a bit warmer as a few sunny intervals boost temperatures into the 18 to 22 C range.

SATURDAY mostly cloudy, rain could be heavy at times, 10 to 20 mm will be fairly widespread. Lows near 14 C and highs near 18 C.

SUNDAY becoming partly cloudy by mid-day as showers become more isolated and then die out, lows near 12 C and highs near 20 C.

NEXT WEEK is looking quite pleasant with more sunshine than we've seen recently, and little if any further rainfall. Highs will be into the low 20s and could peak around 25 C late in the week. The week following may see a return to more unsettled conditions though.

My local weather saw heat moderated slightly (near 30 C) by increasing cloud, a few showers and thunderstorms on radar to our north at present but have not seen any rain yet. A disorganized frontal system has formed and will drop south of us overnight, so we're only expecting low 20s and a few showers on Thursday. By the way, U.S. Open golf weather in western PA looks fairly settled, with chances of a few showers around on the weekend, moderate temperatures in the 24 to 28 C range.

Friday, 13 June, 2025 __ Forecasts for Ireland

TRENDS ... Showery to early Sunday then a drying trend, quite warm next week, and some signs of a heat wave developing towards end of June.

    FORECASTS

TODAY will be partly cloudy to overcast with a few showers and isolated thunderstorms, more likely in western counties, and quite humid with a high of 18 to 20 C.
TONIGHT overcast, showers, lows 12 to 14 C.
SATURDAY partly cloudy to overcast, widespread showers may turn heavy by afternoon in some parts, highs 17 to 19 C.
SUNDAY showers ending then a few sunny breaks, lows near 12 C and highs near 20 C.
NEXT WEEK looks quite pleasant with some sunshine each day, very little rain likely, and temperatures a little above average with highs into the 20-23 C range. Nights will be fairly cool in some rural areas with lows 7 to 10 C.

The following week could see heat building up over France, Britain and possibly some parts of southeast Ireland as well. Details keep changing on guidance this far out but the signal has been there for several days now.

My local weather on Thursday saw a cooling trend to near 23 C and while showers were nearby at times, we failed to see any rain locally. Heavy showers were located over the Rockies to our east. The weather picture over fire zones in north central prairie regions is gradually improving slightly at least with some rain at times but considerable smoke continues to stream away from the fire zones, generally to the south-southeast now. Some of this smoke haze is being wafted in our direction on easterly winds in Montana and Alberta. So far it's only a slight drop in air quality for our region.

Saturday, 14 June, 2025 __ Forecasts for Ireland

TRENDS ... Today will be quite unsettled but from Sunday afternoon on, there's a good chance of dry weather in many locations for most of next week. It will also turn a bit warmer especially around Thursday. Current indications have downplayed the risk of a heat wave developing in the final week of June and instead point to a more temperate regime.

    FORECASTS

TODAY will bring some heavy downpours in Leinster and Ulster, and scattered showers and thunderstorms in Munster and Connacht. Highs will be around 18 C. Some localized flooding is possible later this morning in Dublin and nearby counties.
TONIGHT will be foggy or misty with a few more showers in places, lows 12 to 14 C.
SUNDAY showers will diminish during the morning and some sunny breaks are likely to follow, highs 18 to 21 C.
MONDAY partly cloudy to sunny, just a few isolated showers from a weak front decaying over northwest counties. Lows 7 to 10 C and highs 18 to 21 C.
TUESDAY to THURSDAY will bring sunny intervals and highs slowly rising each day to reach about 22-24 C by Thursday. Nights will be relatively mild at 8 to 12 C.
By FRIDAY a slight change in air mass to fresher westerly breezes and highs near 19 C. The following weekend looks rather variable with some return to showery weather at times. As mentioned in the trends, guidance seems to be backing off the heat wave scenario that was quite prevalent for days, and the latest idea seems to be continued moderate westerly flow, but that strong signal for hot weather could always return in later guidance so I wouldn't write it off yet.

My local weather was cooler and quite showery most of the day with a few brief heavy downpours and small hail, highs near 20 C.

Sunday, 15 June, 2025 __ Forecasts for Ireland

TRENDS ... Improving weather this week, as the cloud gradually gives way to more sunshine each day, and temperatures warm up into the 22 to 25 C range.

    FORECASTS

TODAY will be overcast with patchy light rain at first, brightening around mid-day with some sunny intervals later. Highs 16 to 19 C.
TONIGHT partly cloudy, misty, some fog patches developing, lows around 8 C in rural areas, 10 to 12 C in towns and coastal areas.
MONDAY will be partly cloudy with any brief light showers mostly confined to some coastal sections. Highs around 19 C.
TUESDAY partly cloudy, isolated showers, lows near 8 C and highs near 20 C.
WEDNESDAY to the WEEKEND looking mostly sunny each day with highs increasing from near 21 C on Wednesday to 24-26 C by the weekend. Nights will be mild but some rural areas will drop below 10 C briefly before sunrise. This warm, dry spell appears likely to persist for a few days into the following week; guidance has been "all over the place" as to how strong this warm spell might be, and also how long it might last, the latest idea being a rather abrupt end to the warmth as winds turn northerly mid-week (in about ten days, that is).

My local weather on Saturday was sunny with cloudy intervals and hazy, with a pleasant high near 22 C.

Monday, 16 June, 2025 __ Forecasts for Ireland

TRENDS ... Warmer with more sunshine this week, generally dry except for a few isolated light showers today and possibly again on Tuesday.

    FORECASTS

TODAY will be partly cloudy with a chance of a few isolated showers, with many places remaining dry. Highs 17 to 21 C.
TONIGHT will be partly cloudy with clear intervals and fog patches forming, lows 8 to 12 C.
TUESDAY will be partly cloudy with a few scattered light showers, highs 18 to 22 C.
WEDNESDAY to about SATURDAY now appear likely to be sunny and warm, with highs 22 to 26 C.
Around SUNDAY into next MONDAY (23rd) it's possible this warmer spell will be interrupted by showers and thunderstorms. However, guidance for this interval and beyond does not inspire much confidence because every computer model run seems quite changeable. It's perhaps equally likely to remain quite warm and dry.

My local weather on Sunday was sunny, hazy and warm with a high near 24 C.

Tuesday, 17 June, 2025 __ Forecasts for Ireland

TRENDS ... After some drizzly weather this morning, mostly dry and quite warm to Saturday, a cooler and showery interval for a day or two followed by a resumption of warm, dry weather for part of the following week also.

    FORECASTS

TODAY will start out rather cloudy with scattered outbreaks of drizzle or light rain, but this will gradually clear by mid-day and the afternoon will turn sunny and quite warm with highs 20 to 23 C.
TONIGHT will be clear with lows near 8 C.
WEDNESDAY to SATURDAY is looking generally fair with warm daytime readings of 22 to 26 C, and nights close to 10 C for minima (evenings will be quite warm though at 19-21 C). There will be slight risks of localized showers near the west coast at times but this activity will not spread east.
SUNDAY will see the passage of a fairly strong cold front with a band of rain and gusty winds, temperatures falling back to around 18 C. MONDAY will remain a bit cooler also while gradually clearing, near 19 C.
By later next week there will be a resumption of fairly warm and dry weather, perhaps within a degree or two of this week. Again this will break down towards the end of the week.
Heat wave conditions will spread into parts of Britain at times this week and next, it will be a little more moderate in Ireland although it may be advertised as a heat wave if three days exceed 25 C. Highs in Britain could be into the low 30s at times.

My local weather was sunny, hazy and warm with a high near 25 C.

Wednesday, 18 June, 2025 __ Forecasts for Ireland

TRENDS ... Very warm and dry for the next few days (apart from some brief and light showers in some western counties), showery again around Sunday as a cooler air mass arrives, then next week fairly warm again with dry intervals but more cloud and isolated showers than this coming interval will produce.

    FORECASTS

TODAY will be rather cloudy this morning with hazy sunshine becoming more widespread by mid-day and afternoon. Some light rain could brush the northwest coast for part of the day. Highs 21 to 24 C for most, 18 to 21 C where cloud more persistent (in west and north).

TONIGHT partly cloudy, hazy, mild with lows 8 to 13 C.

THURSDAY mostly sunny, a few isolated showers, very warm, highs 22 to 26 C.

FRIDAY, sunny and hot in most locations, lows near 12 C and highs near 27 C inland, 23 to 25 C near some coasts.

SATURDAY variable cloud, some sunny intervals, still quite warm, lows near 15 C and highs near 24 C.

SUNDAY variable cloud, passing showers, isolated thunderstorms, lows near 17 C and highs near 21 C. MONDAY partly cloudy, cooler, breezy to windy at times, lows near 13 C and highs near 19 C. (possibly 16 C in north). The rest of next week is likely to be reasonably settled but with somewhat more cloud and brief shower activity than this coming interval. Highs 21 to 24 C.

My local weather on Tuesday was hazy and warm with highs around 27 C. A heat wave is also brewing for the eastern U.S. after a rather cool and unsettled week; highs could be 35 to 38 C by the weekend and into next week for several days. As mentioned yesterday, as warm as we expect Ireland to become, a more pronounced heat wave is imminent for Britain and France where highs will probably top out in the low to mid 30s (high 30s in parts of central France).-

TRENDS ... rather cloudy with outbreaks of rain at times, more frequent further north, to about Thursday morning, with a warmer interval developing for several days thereafter.

The regime will then be variable and unsettled with temperatures dropping back into the 17 to 19 C range.

My local weather continued quite miserable for early summer, cloudy all day with frequent downpours and still quite cold at only 13 C, several rumbles of thunder from cells that were a few miles away at times. Heat wave conditions are building up over the central and eastern two-thirds of the U.S. and southern portions of eastern Canada.

    FORECASTS

TODAY will be partly cloudy with rain moving through northern counties later, generally north of a Galway to Dublin line although some lighter amounts are possible across the south. Breezy at times. Highs 18 to 21 C.

TONIGHT variable cloud, a few showers, lows 10 to 12 C.

WEDNESDAY mostly cloudy, light rain or drizzle at times, turning heavier by late in the day. Lows near 12 C and highs near 20 C.

THURSDAY mostly cloudy, rain gradually ending, turning quite humid ... lows 12 to 14 C, highs generally near 20 C but could reach low 20s with any breaks in overcast.

FRIDAY and SATURDAY will be partly cloudy days with scattered showers and thunderstorms, warm and humid, lows 13 to 17 C and highs 21 to 24 C.

SUNDAY may see even warmer temperatures and perhaps a little better sunshine also, but still with isolated thunderstorms, lows around 16 C and highs 23 to 26 C.

MONDAY variable cloud, showers, a little cooler by afternoon in western counties. Lows near 17 C and highs 20 to 22 C.

TUESDAY (1st of July) will bring variable cloud and showers, cooler temperatures near 18 C.
In general the first week to ten days of July look rather unsettled and not overly warm, likely in the 16 to 19 C range.

My local weather improved a bit to something similar to what you had in Ireland on Monday, partly cloudy and 18 C. It looked set to rain a few times but never produced more than a few traces. Meanwhile record highs were set in many eastern cities of the U.S., as one example New York (Central Park) tied an 1888 record of 96F (35.6 C). It was 99F in Philadelphia and 98F in Washington DC.

Some speculation that today will bring even hotter record highs in those locations, if not matching them. (New York central park's highest June readings are 101F (38C) from 1934 and 1966; all-time their highest is 106F (41C), set in July 1936).

Wednesday, 25 June, 2025 __ Forecasts for Ireland

TRENDS ... Turning warmer with rain at times, but heavier in the north, staying quite warm to Monday 30th, then slightly cooler before a second peak of warmth around Thursday 3rd-Friday 4th of July. More unsettled after that.

    FORECASTS

TODAY will be mostly cloudy, rather warm and humid, with occasional light rain or drizzle, turning heavier towards late afternoon and evening. Highs 18 to 21 C.
TONIGHT overcast with rain, heavy at times, lows 13 to 15 C.
THURSDAY cloudy with a few brighter intervals by afternoon, humid and breezy to windy (southwest 40 to 70 km/hr). Highs 18 to 21 C. Rain may continue for a part of the day in some northern counties.
FRIDAY to SUNDAY, warm and humid, occasional showers and thunderstorms more likely in west and north, moderate southwest winds, lows 14 to 17 C, highs 22 to 25 C. Some very warm sunny spells in the mix also.
MONDAY partly cloudy, showers, turning cooler in stages from west to east, lows near 15 C and highs near 21 C.
TUESDAY will bring variable cloud and a few showers, lows near 9 C and highs near 18 C.
It will then warm back into low 20s for several days before a more unsettled regime takes hold with potential for some heavy rainfalls.

My local weather on Tuesday was sunny, hazy and warm with a high near 23 C. The east coast heat wave peaked with readings close to 38 C in the major cities. It should begin to return to normal late June temperatures in the mid-20s later today with scattered thunderstorms replacing the scorching sun.

Tropical storm Andrea formed briefly in the central Atlantic but will be swept into the strong southwest flow approaching Ireland and will probably be entirely dissipated well before tomorrow.

Thursday, 26 June, 2025 __ Forecasts for Ireland

TRENDS ... Rather cloudy but with some spells of warm sunshine, a few showers or thunderstorms at times, more organized frontal rainfall by Monday (30th) and then a bit cooler before returning to the low 20s later.

    FORECASTS

TODAY will be rather cloudy, some rain will return by mid-day and afternoon to some western and northern counties, fairly dry most of the time elsewhere, highs near 20 C but possibly a bit higher inland south and east, in moderate southwest winds.

TONIGHT mostly cloudy with isolated showers, warm and humid, lows 12 to 15 C.

FRIDAY will be partly cloudy and warm, humid, isolated showers and thunderstorms, highs 19 to 23 C.

SATURDAY and SUNDAY will continue with similar conditions, warm and humid, some spells of very warm sunshine, some isolated showers and thunderstorms, lows 13 to 17 C, and highs 21 to 25 C.

MONDAY will become cloudy with intervals of rain and some heavy downpours possible, lows 12 to 15 C and highs 18 to 20 C.

TUESDAY (1st of July) will turn a bit cooler again with showers and sunny breaks, lows near 10 C and highs near 18 C.
The rest of the week into early July will probably turn a bit warmer again, with highs back into the low 20s most days. There are low-confidence signals of a cooler second week of July in more of a northerly flow but even if it happens that way, only a degree or two below average.

My local weather on Wednesday was cloudy and rather warm and humid, with a couple of passing thunderstorms. For a few minutes around 2 p.m. we had pea sized hail falling. There was a tornadic look to another cell that missed us to the south, if any damage it would have been in a rural area about thirty miles south of here in WA state.
The eastern heat wave began to break down (from Washington DC north at least) late Wednesday after another day with highs close to 37 C. Widespread thunderstorms provided some relief during the evening.

THURSDAY a chance of heavy rain with some thunderstorm activity, details to become clearer during the week, most likely temperature range 16 to 20 C.
Another spell of pleasant summer weather would likely begin after this rain moves away early to mid-day Friday (4th).

My local weather on Friday was mostly cloudy with passing showers lasting a few minutes at a time, briefly heavy, and highs near 21 C.

Saturday, 5 July, 2025 __ Forecasts for Ireland
TRENDS ... Rather cloudy this weekend and Monday, limited amounts of rain for most areas, not spreading to east coast very often, inland south a bit warmer than other districts ... sunny intervals and quite warm later next week ... becoming very unsettled mid-July, possibly quite hot over Britain and even at times into Ireland, but also strong frontal zones likely with heavy thunderstorms possible (but as this is ten days to two weeks out, details rather sketchy).

    FORECASTS
TODAY will be mostly cloudy with any brighter intervals likely to be brief and mostly near south coast. Some light rain or drizzle at times in west and north mainly. Highs 17 to 20 C. Quite humid so feeling a bit warmer possibly.
TONIGHT will be partly cloudy to overcast with a few showers and moderate westerly breezes. Lows near 12 C.
SUNDAY cloudy with sunny breaks, passing showers, isolated thunderstorms. Highs 17 to 19 C.
MONDAY variable cloud, some locally heavy showers possible, winds west-northwest 40 to 60 km/hr. Lows near 9 C and highs near 17 C.
TUESDAY will be the start of a warmer period with at least some sunshine although it could remain cloudy near Atlantic coasts. Highs will reach 21-23 C in some eastern counties. After that it will turn a bit warmer each day to the following weekend when highs could top out around 25 C. It won't be dry all the time for some western and northern counties as weak disturbances push through those regions. A more widespread outbreak of heavy showers and thunderstorms seems inevitable by late next weekend into the following week of 14 to 18 July, partly because heat over France and parts of Britain will be building up while the Atlantic tries to push in with moist and cooler air. There is a fairly good chance that eventually this will lead to some very active summer thunderstorm scenarios over Ireland into Scotland and northern England while southern and possibly central Britain get into a prolonged heat wave. Guidance continues to ebb and flow on details of this, earlier there were runs showing a week of 32-35 C temperatures in Britain. No guidance has shown this level of heat spreading into Ireland however.

My local weather on Friday was cloudy, warm and humid with highs near 25 C. Rain is pushing up from Idaho tonight, most of it looks like it will stay to our east but I'm expecting a few mms of rain here. Meanwhile a river flooding disaster has unfolded in south central Texas near Kerrville as the Guadelupe River developed massive floods from torrential rains of dissipating tropical storm Barry. A new tropical storm is moving towards South Carolina from the Atlantic (it will be Chantal if named before landfall).

Sunday, 6 July, 2025 __ Forecasts for Ireland

TRENDS ... Gradually turning warmer during the week, rainfall quite limited and some places will be dry until the weekend, when it may become rather unsettled.

    FORECASTS

TODAY will be cloudy with a few afternoon sunny breaks, breezy, with a few passing showers developing over parts of the north and west mainly. Highs 17 to 21 C.
TONIGHT will be partly cloudy with any showers dissipating by midnight, lows 9 to 12 C.
MONDAY will be partly cloudy with more generous amounts of sunshine in Leinster and Munster. Isolated showers. Breezes from the northwest at 30 to 50 km/hr will tend to die off somewhat by afternoon. Highs 18 to 22 C.
TUESDAY sunny with cloudy intervals, warmer. A weak warm front may drop slight amounts of rain as it drifts east during the mid-day to afternoon hours. Lows near 10 C and highs 19 to 23 C.
WEDNESDAY to FRIDAY looking very nice with warm sunshine and highs 23 to 27 C, nights rather warm at 12 to 15 C.
NEXT WEEKEND appears likely to turn more unsettled as fronts edge closer to Ireland by Friday night, leading to a sultry southerly flow that could set off heavy showers and isolated thunderstorms. Highs 21 to 24 C, quite humid also, and warm nights with lows around 16 to 18 C.
The following week appears likely to be a mixed bag of near average temperatures and passing frontal systems, temperatures generally near 20 C or into low 20s.
My local weather on Saturday started out damp and overcast but we got very little rain and it gradually cleared to partly cloudy skies and highs near 24 C. Tropical Storm Chantal is moving inland over South Carolina and will be dissipating during the next two days.
