I sent a complaint letter by email.
I kept it simple, and complained about the time it was taking to process my claim; as I thought this was unacceptable.
One week later I had a meeting with an Inspector and my claim was settled.
If you complain your claim will be processed faster. Trust me.

I was November till May, so yeah complain like **** to avoid that

I sent a complaint a few days ago cuz I was waiting 13 weeks.I got the letter in the post today saying I can can collect my payment next week and they will backdate any payments..Happy days.

As the lady in the social welfare office said it could be up to a 6 month wait from application to hear if successful i was wondering how long other people have had to wait before they got approval letter?

I applied in early Dec 11 and have heard nothing.

I have heard that Jobseekers benefit is processed sooner.


I might be able to figure out an average waiting time if get some replies!

I applied in Killarney January 27th, was told 8-10 weeks.

I have been waiting 5 months for my JSA. I had kept phoning up Dublin every week only to say my appeal is waiting to be looked at by the deciding officer.

I had sent an email complaint about the time taken and never got an email back. I find they don't really care and have no common decency to even acknowledge your email.

The deciding officer finally looked at my claim to say it had been decided over a month ago.

I finally got my letter and it's been "dissallowed"

See my case below. "Refused job seekers allowance"

I applied for JB on 7th Feb and received my first payment last week on 7th April so 4 weeks wait in Tallaght Office. The girl there told me it was 3-4 weeks so was fairly happy with that.... was afraid I was going to be waiting months!

Applied for part time dole there the 6th of February and no word since. I was working two jobs for years and paid a lot of stamps according to lady I applied to it shouldn't take long. All dockets in every Wednesday_ I'm in Galway city. Anyone know what the average wait is lately. Starting yo get v. Worried

Applied to Tralee office from JSB to JSA: April 23rd
Rang today 9th May for update, told it was registered & the inspector will be in touch in the next week to arrange a meeting.
Hopefully it will be that soon and I will get an answer quickly.

Edited to add that I got a letter today, 10th May which has my appointment with the inspector for Monday next, 14th May! Told to bring statements & payslips. Won't see much on our statements, both overdrawn to the max! Hopefully this will be sorted soon.

When I went in on the 18th, they just took my name and scheduled an appointment for the 28th, where they took all the forms and ID etc. So technically they didn't begin to process my application until then I guess. Got a letter today dated 31st May saying JSA awarded. I'm amazed!

Applied in Carlow town, JSA adjustment to welfare inspector 18/4/12 .
10/07/12 called on telephone about the delay.They said I was not the list !
I went to reception and they confirmed still on the list.
20/07/12 still waiting .

Had an appointment with the social welfare inspector on June 13th and still haven't heard back almost 2 months later!

Anyone know is this normal for the Cork office?

I don't really expect to get any payment but I'd like to know either way..

7 weeks today since I applied, got a letter today to collect my payment tomorrow, and my back-dated payments from when I applied 7 weeks ago will be through next week. Phew! This was in Coolock.
