I was told the very first time I went into social welfare that while my particular case would take a little while, due to the fact that I'd been made redundant it should only take a few weeks. I was specifically told that while my colleagues would get theirs quickly I'd have a week or two extra of a wait.

Went in three weeks ago to see if I needed to bring in anything extra or maybe if they needed to speak to me about anything and was told that everything was in order, it was with the deciding officer they were just about to make a decision and that I'd hear from them within a day or two.

Last week was called in by an officer and told that a) they had been trying to contact me for weeks (I had no missed calls from them, bar the one I got asking me to come in the next day!) and b) they'd managed to lose a months worth of my part time work forms.
When I showed them on my phone that I had only ever received one phone from them I got no response and when I told them I'd been in the office enquiring about my application within the last two weeks and was told that my application was fine, there were no problems with it and no one needed to see me I still got no response only a blank look.

Was told over a week ago I'd have my first payment within the next 4-5 days. Still waiting.

Also have to say that the staff have not been very forthcoming with information. At the start of my process one person refused to explain the difference between benefits and allowance (beyond the fact that I may get slightly more on one of these payments) because "you're not going to get the full rate anyways and you'll get the one that pays you more any ways".
I'm at the stage of getting incredibly pissed now. 3months of limbo.

I had all sorts of trouble with habitual residence etc. waited 6 months with nothing then eventually sorted and received 6 months back payments within 2 weeks in limerick

How do you know when your application has been sent to a deciding officer? Are you officially notified of it? I started the process in march, had means test appt in june and have heard nothing since :-(
will I hear when it has been sent to a deciding officer or will I just be notified when my claim is approved/rejected?

I applied for supplementary welfare assistance (which was refused on grounds I am a full time student even though I am entitled to social welfare being a mature student, the system is crazy) and she was able to tell me when my claim had went to a deciding officer
She said it wouldn't take much longer but I'm not holding my breath.

Also you will be notified when you claim is successful or not at least that's what I was told
