My sister was unlocking her iphone, Vodafone told her to restore with itunes. Is that it or is there anything else to do?.

Nope that's it, just restore in itunes and a message will appear at the end saying congratulations, your iphone is unlocked

Hi guys,

Im sure this has been asked a thousand times before, but I cant seem to find anything specific to my question. I can buy a cheap iPhone 4s in the States, but im not sure if it will work with vodafone in Ireland. Its on the Verizon network and is new. Can I get a vodafone mini sim to work in it, and is it possible to jailbreak it so that it works at home?

Verizon is a CDMA network so I don't think it will work here

I have an Iphone 4 16gb, running 5.1.1 on modem firmware 04.10.01 and need to unlock it. I have the Gevey ultra sim thing which worked when i used this phone last but it doesnt work since i updated to 5.1.1.

Is there a way for me to unlock? Should the Gevey Sim be working?

You need to get vodafone uk to unlock it. Best thing to do would be to ring them. This is all assuming your the original owner. If not you'll have to look elsewhere as there is no software unlock for ios 5.1.1 yet.

Some websites will unlock it for you for a fee but try vodafone uk first.

Actually now that I've looked them companies can't unlock vodafone uk iphone 4s's. Where did he get the phone?

Scratch that actually. His last couple of feedbacks for unlocking Vodafone UK aren't great. I know the site I usually use said they can't do them at the minute.

If you have updated the base band ie you updated through itunes the Gevey will no longer work for you

ifunbox is one of the many available ones, you don't need to have ifile installed to use it but if you get a message saying the phone is jailed you need to search cydia for afc2add

So would I be better off to uninstall ifile and go with ifunbox?

Having ifile won't do any harm but it's not needed unless you want to browse the file system on the phone, ifunbox is a program for a pc
