Thanks for that; I very much liked the texture of the croc strap in your pictures and that quality isn't really reflected in the pictures on the Stowa site. €140 is, I suppose, an OKish price for a genuine alligator (though I was hoping that you'd found a better, cheaper source :)); did it come with the Stowa buckle or just the strap?

    Moscow Classiv Vodolaz Automatic

The Panerai for peasant(s) gotz new shooz :D

    Before:

    190767.jpg

The supplied strap was, quite frankly, a bit limp. Good quality with a nice black buckle, but too thin and those white stitches in combination with the orange ...not good

    After:

    190768.jpg
    190769.jpg

With a black bracelet (by Eichmueller) from the watchbandcenter.

As they say ....now she's suckin' diesel! :D

New just landed in from my brother in the states.. late Christmas present arrival :p

another TX in the collection but completely different from anything I have currently.

Flyback chronograph, compass and second time zone on a funky orange rubber strap. Looks red in the photos due to lighting.

Is that Breguet? Or am I thinking of another make?

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,659 ✭✭✭Darwin

Had the exact same Tx myself, but sold it on when I got bored with it! I since bought another three Tx's, a metallic blue Pilot, a brown leather GT 650 and a black 730. Great watches for the price.

Yes the quality is very good.

Price includes a tang buckle in matte or polished finish, but not the deployant clasp pictured.

This was/is my very first automatic, bought about two years ago

I can second how great the Stowa crocos are, I have a black one on a handwinding fleiger, and a middle brown one on a Marine Automatic.

Am I right in thinking that both watches are quartz? I'm prejudiced against quartz.

So you settled for less . Your son of 5lb *cough*oz (hint please) will not thank you when he'll be handed a quartz watch

As for the resetting of mechanical/auto watches, I'm not bothered anymore with the day/date, I just leave it as it is. Incidentally, I'm wearing an auto now (Fortis) and it's shows Friday the 23rd. At least with the day I have a chance in 7 to be right ;)

I'd be over the moon if I was handed that watch.

tough crowd in here today..poor watch taking a hammering

Anywho..was in Weirs today, Tried on the one I bought and a PO

SMP €2850 and the PO €3250

the PO, beautiful, the SMP beautiful

I found the PO looked smaller and I think it was due to the fact that you have the face, then a silver ring and then the bezel.

The SMP went straight from face to Bezel

Either way, both are fab and am happy with my SMP

Nothing wrong with your SMP DP. It looks fantastic. Just surprised you went for something so similar to the one you sold.

Was the SMP the quartz one? If so, the price seems pretty high; I would have thought it was the price of the Co-Ax SMP with the wavedial (i.e. not the new flat faced one intrdocued at the end of last year). LIkewise, the PO is the 2500C not the new 8500 movement?

What sort of discount level do you think they would have given?

My latest acquisition doesn't look half as impressive as some of the more recent posts above but i love it. I've become a bit of geek for G Shocks and every time i head to New York i usually make a beeline for Tourneau to check out the latest additions.

My last was a MTG 1000 which i loved but i became smitten by the GW3000BB-1A in the Aviation Series and was duly purchased last week.:)

On the subject of affordable watches, my last two acquisitions. The first is a Casio Protrek with solar and radio controlled time keeping. This model was released late last year and is a slight refresh of the first edition - the hour/minute hands now have lume but the drawback is they can block the digital display at times. It's a big watch but is very comfortable to wear.

Another TX to add to the collection, the busy face is definitely not everyone's cup of tea but I like it:

Nice protreck - I have the PRW-5000T myself. Its a really great all round watch especially on holidays - perfect for the beach, versatile enough to wear to dinner.
