    Oh that's niiiice !

Any chance of a movement shot (without breaking the watch of course)?

As for servicing, I believe that the small engravings in the last pic would be service marks

  • Registered Users Posts: 167 ✭✭Jagdtiger

Thanks, yes it was serviced a few years back to get a spring fixed (by the watchmaker that used to have a shop on Wicklow st), but other than that it is all original. As Peasant has pointed out the engravings are service marks, which I think adds a nice bit of history to the watch.

If I get the time I'll try and take a movement shot and post it up!

Not technically in my possession yet.. but I did win the auction on Ebay this evening so should have it by the end of the week hopefully! A fairly pristine example of one of the very earliest LCD's ever produced dating from 1974 using a field effect display. Also happens to be he year of my birth which caught my eye in the first place :p

Your a watch buying machine these days ! It's a great piece of retro coolness !

It's nice to see it came with box and papers. Is it NOS or was it sitting in someone's desk all these years ?

Very cool Homer. And will increase in value. Kudos on the find. I'm getting fierce jealous today with some of the guys purchases. :)

Rejoice in the awareness of feeling stupid, for that’s how you end up learning new things. If you’re not aware you’re stupid, you probably are.

and just in case you didn't think it was weird enough that I was trawling the bay trying to find a pristine watch from the year I was born.. By pure coincidence I managed to bag the below item too :p

It's an original and authentic advert for the watch in question from a magazine dated 1974 - not a reprint or copy! how bizarre is that! completely different seller in a different country even! On it's way to me too :D

Started reading through this thread yesterday for the first time, went through all 49 pages and I have completely fallen for those IWC Portuguese watches even though I had not even heard of them before (I don't know a lot about watches I'm afraid but I'm working on it!), and despite the fact that a watch like that would look disproportionate to my feeble little wrists! Thought I would add some photographs of my Dad's Omega Seamaster Deville. It was originally his fathers watch. Unfortunately seems to have gotten a little scratched over the years.

That's a beauty. I plan on picking up one of these vintage Omegas in the new year. Just class.

  • Registered Users Posts: 447 ✭✭Smokeyskelton

The crystal on the DeVille could probably be restored nicely with a bit of polish and elbow grease.

I'm sure others on here could advise better than I could though. Nice watch! :)

Thanks! Looking at the pictures, particularly the 3rd one down, was the first time I actually noticed the Omega symbol on the crystal before. I wore this watch a few times, the last time I did the strap broke as I was crossing a bridge walking into Limerick city and it fell to the path in front and I ended up kicking it off a railing as I hadn't even noticed the strap breaking, very lucky I didn't kick it through the railing!!

Hi all, I've been lurking the forum for the last while and I've learned quite a bit from it, so thanks for all the explainations and information.

So far I have two watches:

The first is an Omega Seamaster Pro 300m (Model 212.30.41.20.01.002) I got myself as a graduation present two years ago. It's on my wrist daily and I love it. No pics of this atm unfortunately.

The second is a vintage Omega from 1961 with a 268 movement. I actually picked up this from Carpenter over on Adverts this evening.

*pic robbed from Carpenter's advert on Adverts.ie

The pic really do not do it justice. This watch is pristine.

Both my mother and father have vintage Omegas and I'm planning to restore them as a present for all those years they put up with me.

I'm also looking at getting a Planet Ocean and a couple of other vintage Omegas. Watch this space.

Another lurker and first time poster here. Since discovering watch forums I've become fascinated by Russian watches - something I didn't even know existed a few months ago. Anyhow, here's a pic of my first russian:-

    Raketa-Kopernik-5.jpg

Sorry for the poor quality shot, I haven't quite got the hang of photographying watches yet, but as you can see an old Raketa Copernicus. Cosmetically in good nick and keeping good time.

First stab at a diver watch so went with the black "Mako".

Great weight and build quality in this, I was very surprised. I am looking for a suitable rubber strap for it at the moment. Bought from creationwatches.com

Thats a lovely PAM you got there. Enjoy. Beautiful strap by the way. I expect you will be buying a selection of straps for it now. That is what is so great about PAM's.. a change of strap compleatly changes the "mood" of the watch.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 5,731 ✭✭✭Bullseye1

I really like the shape of the Pam but for me it needs a subdial. I really like their 8 day reserve.

personally i prefer the uncluttered dial -although the 233 manifattura 8 day reserve is a beautiful watch but almost 3 times the price of the base models.
I was really lucky to get the 390 as it is a boutique only LE watch and i got on the waiting list the day after it was announced - flippers are already selling it with a $2000 mark up!

here is the link to the 233, beautiful watch http://www.paneraisource.com/watch_details/Manifattura_55.html

Nothing fancy at all but at about €10 delivered it's one that always makes me smile. I work in retail and on the odd occasion I'm on the shop floor and have this, I always get a smile and a question or two when a customer asks the time and I take this out.

Surprisingly it keeps pretty decent time.
