Brilliant time for a first nice_guy80, well done.
Where did you get the times so quick? I was there also today.

after the prize giving I asked the organiser to see them. he had a big list.

I reckon I could knock loads of time off my swim (I was all over the place with the cross wind and took too long to get into my stroke) plus I have not swam too much
And the T1 - by wearing a shirt with race number underneath wetsuit
and the bike - by utilising the tailwind better.
and not drinking sports drinks at the transitions that i am not used to. nearly got sick on the run (which i reckon is my strongest event)

But wait, I'm now officially retired from Triathlons!
    It's been a pleasure...

Times are up now on precision.

That time is something else for a first especially your swim & cycle. Took me about 3 races to get under 20 mins for a swim & 40 mins for a cycle. My first full sprint took me 1:30 & I had done a super sprint before that. If your that fit already & kept at it you'd easily knock another ten minutes off that.

Why am I finding myself looking at donedeal for nice road bikes with carbon forks?
    and 2nd hand wetsuits.

This triathlon craic gets inside your head...

    lets be clear about this...
I intend to do this ONE sprint triathlon, and then quit the sport!
before my competitive streak kicks in

    And I'm back
once again the hurling season is over early for me

So I'm looking into doing another Sprint Triathlon this year. Maybe even two.
Last year I did the Tri an Mhi, so wouldn't mind doing a different one.

And I've no cycling or swimming training done, yet.
    Any recommendations?

Have any compeditive swimmers or former compeditive swimmers on here started triathlon training? How did it affect your swimming afterwards? When coaching or teaching I can usually spot a runner a mile off because of the lack of flexability in the ankle, which really kills you if your are trying to swim.

Seeing as someone else resurrected the thread.

Ankle flexibility == good for swimming.
Ankle flexibility == bad for running.

Do some cycling and swimming. Although you'll probably be fine from all the GAA without it.

Oh I will, don't worry. I start tomorrow! Swim in morning, bike in the evening.
I did a few 5k runs since April too, so I'm in good shape for that.

I was more looking for a recommendation for a Sprint Triathlon to do.

Should this be a sticky thread? Maybe encourage a search here for common FAQs?

If I was looking for an answer to a question, a 65 page thread is the last place I'd look :)

Ha ha, when you already have the answers you don't need to look but for those who don't....
