Ah your poor dog - although I bet you're more stressed about the whole thing than she is. Best of luck - please keep us updated.

Thanks whispered, I know that I just worry easy!

Well the vet has her booked to get the tumor off next Friday, getting her teeth done as well when she's out! So while I'm a nervous wreck you will be walking up the aisle!

You all set? Hope it goes perfect for ye!

  • Registered Users Posts: 14,772 ✭✭✭✭Whispered

Ah she will be fine - you already know the growth is benign?

How long will the procedure take?

I'll be a nervous wreck friday too :o Yes I think everything is sorted except a few last minute things. Thanks.

Hope your dog is ok, Tillygirl, its so worrying when there's something wrong, they can't tell you whats wrong.
    And congrats to Whispered.
Wish all the best to you both.

They think so but will send it for analysis once it's off. I don't know how long it will take, she has to be in at half 9 on Friday anyway.

Fingers crossed everything will be ok, thanks mymo.

One of my cats does that to the dogs:D, poor dogs follow the bowl and try and snatch their dinner back by the mouthful. The bigger dog will knock the bowl upside down trying to get it back, while staying out of reach of the cat.;)

I have to resort to shutting the cat out of the kitchen so the dogs can eat in peace.

The vid after that is great too, Shih Tzu grouching about a bath:D

I'm suprised at the number of people on the forum at this time!

Serves me right for volunteering - am currently on the couch with a backslab cast on my right foot, up on cushions. Was helping local cat shelter move - in a pair of blundstone boots (thank the lord for those) but we were working in nasty conditions - standing water filled with cat ****e and stinking. Dismantled a shed and took out the heavy plastic pallets that make up the floor. Was pressure hosing down a pallet for potential re-use and I dropped the bloody thing because it was so slimy and filthy - took my shin out on the way down. The boots stopped it breaking my foot, but I have a black and blue and swollen right shin to ankle. And I'm also couchbound while they continue the move without me.

Turnabout though - if I hadn't been at the shelter, I may have managed a similarly debilitating injury in my own yard, but then I wouldn't have had someone from the shelter go collect my car from the emergency department, or take my dog out for a walk while I'm in the cast!!

Sweeper - really like how you see the sliver lining! Accident sounds pretty nasty though :(

  • Registered Users Posts: 14,772 ✭✭✭✭Whispered

Hope you feel better soon. That sounds nasty.

Went in for x-rays this morning - nothing broken, but am signed off work until Thursday this week because I have to keep my weight off it and continue with RICE - rest, ice, compression and elevation. I have one helluva multicoloured foot...

That sounds horrible, hope you feel better soon

Whispered how is Phoenix settling in?

  • Registered Users Posts: 68,317 ✭✭✭✭seamus

I need to stop looking at rescue websites :D. Every time I see a Staff I wanna take him/her home. But I know that having two Staffs would be a bit mad. And I'd somehow feel like I'm betraying Darcey cos it's been her place now for the last year.
Whatever about her chilling out and sleeping in the sitting room when we're pottering around the house, the destruction caused by two of them...

    Someday...when we have a garden...

I have always found two to be easier than one & now I have three !. Right now my Greyhound is knocking nine bells out of my precocious pup & they are both loving it.

I just realised that I met you! :o And now that I think of it, sarah did say so.

He's great, a lovely little boy. He's fit in perfectly well and is so easy to have around. I've got him covered in silcox base, he's so funny looking with his creamy white head! Loves harley, and seems to be bossing him around a tiny bit, but in a silly puppy, "I didn't realise it was rude to take toys from your mouth" sort of way. And I'm so proud of my boy who is alternating between ignoring and trying to start play.

He has learned to bounce around when the dog food press is opened and copies everything harley does, so is asking to go out for the toilet and sitting under my feet when I'm cooking. Still sleeping a lot and loves his crate.

I have just made my youngster yelp & run away with his tail between his legs. I played back a recording of his play growling - like a cross between a growl & a gargle. Scared the life out of him - he clearly doesn't recognise his own voice !.

Hahaha you didn't realise?! :D did you not wonder how does this strange person know my dogs name?!

Thats good, I'm glad he's doing good. Hes such a sweetheart even if he smells of socks!

Might be a future addition to seamus' house!

  • Registered Users Posts: 14,772 ✭✭✭✭Whispered

I did think it strange, then again Harley is such a little superstar I didn't dwell on it for too long. :pac:

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,412 ✭✭✭toadfly

Imagine if your dog was that famous?! :p

    Thanks for the picture.

    Dooo itttt.

I'm the same though, even though I have a full house, I feel bad for the Malamute in Ashton pound and will have to fight against my urge to want to take him in if he needs rehoming.

I was thinking, do you think there'd be any interest on this board for a dog meet up? A chance for people to all meet up in say Marlay Park and let their dogs all socialise?

  • Registered Users Posts: 14,772 ✭✭✭✭Whispered

Why not post your location and see if anyone is interested in joining you for a walk. I'm in Kildare and meet up with another boardsie and his rottie for walks sometimes. It works out great as they are both similar sizes and love to play together.

Heh. As I've said to Whispered, we've no garden, which means 4/5 walks every day to take the dog out to pee. My wife does the bulk of these (cos she's at home more than me) and she has a bad back so can just about deal with the one dog as it is. A second dog just won't work until we have a different place with a garden.

    Hi everyone,
Hope ye are all having a nice weekend.

Just wondering if any of the dog shelters take second hand leads or harness'?
I have two of those extending leads and two harness that I had for mine when they were pups.
I've no use for them anymore, they've grown out of the harness and I never use the extending leads anymore.

    Any suggestions?
