Does anyone else reading this thread really wish they could go back and do the Leaving Cert all over again? I did mine six years ago, and while I did grand and got the points I needed, I could have done so well with a bit of hard work and discipline and organisation. If in the future I ended up having a year free for some reason, and no money worries, I would definitely go back and do it again!

    Why?!?!?!?!?!?!

It doesn't mean ****e all. When you go for a job interview you're not asked how many points you got in your leaving your asked what you did in college.

    505... Quite disappointed, tbh.

    Irish (HL) - D1
    English (HL) - C3
    Maths (HL) - B1
    Geog. (HL) - C2
    German (HL) - B1
    Physics (HL) - B1
    Chemistry (HL) - B1
    Russian (HL) - A1

I really thought I did better in Maths.. It was always my best subject. "/

    I am absolutely delighted!!
    English (H) B2
    Math (O) B2
    History (H) C2
    German (O) B3
    Art (H) C3
    Business (H) C2
    Economics (H) B3
    Religion (H) B3

    Tl;dr : 420 points. I got EXACTLY what I was aiming for! :D

    Didnt do well enough
have neither the points not matriculation for any of my courses
i worked since 5th year and now ive to repeat.
    crap
I'll say to you what I said to my good friend who failed maths: No matter how bad you did, there is always a way to get what you want. If I were you, I would look into different PLC type courses that would be similar to your interests/may get you to what you want. And apart from that, wait until the first offers come. You may be surprised. A friend of mine a few years ago was convinced he wouldn't get his course because he was a few points off. He got it on the second offer (I think...) and the course itself dropped at least 100 points!
So don't worry, there's a way around everything; you just need to find it, Aisling. :)

Hopefully im not being a killjoy here but is it NUIG you are going for? From what i know you need to pass irish to get into any of the NUIs...

Rumour has it Science will be the course that will shoot up in points this year, but certainly not that much!

Little bro looks like hes repeating, although he miraculously passed Irish after failing the oral hard!

Well done to everyone, and coming from experience repeating can work out better then you expect!

    crap

What matriculation requirements are you lacking?

You'd be surprised but there are ways around some things. E.g. my principal's daughter didn't have enough passes to get into UCC but UCC regarded her E in higher level geography equivalent to a passing grade in ordinary level geography and she got in. Not sure if she had to contact them about it though.

And anyway, even if you do have to repeat, it's not the end of the world. Many people say it's the best year of their life.

To people who didnt get what they wanted I'd seriously look into trying to get another way into your course I have two friends who FAILED the hole leaving yet still managed to do courses and get where they wanted! :D
World isnt over I did my leaving in 2005 been in college ever since and still have another 3 years in front of me!! Most people find they don't actually like their first choice and end up dropping out after a year and a half at least you have chance to change your career choices!!

You don't know what the points for this year will be.

You could still get first choice.

But, that doesn't matter too much right now. Enjoy your results and leave the CAO til Monday. You can't do anything about it for now anyway.
