sounds good J, I'll be running to and from the park (4 miles each way) so I don't mind 8-12 or so at a slightly higher pace around 8.00-8.30 pace after I meet you's there.

there's another thread with the DCM2013 newbies meeting up at 9 as well, organised by Digger, I'm sure we can get a few little groups together.

Anybody around for a longish run tomorrow pace 7.10-7.40? Was thinking of the Phoenix park around 11am!

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,821 ✭✭✭blockic

Right on the very outside chance I'll find someone to keep me company for all or even part of this:

    Friday 23rd Aug
Meet: Harty Quay Loop, Cork (Blackrock Castle or Rochestown car park)
    Time: 9-10am
    Pace: 7:20-7:50 min/mile
    Distance: 21 miles

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,373 ✭✭✭Shane O' Malley

Anyone be up for the below run?

    Saturday 24th Aug
    Meet: Papal Cross, Phoenix Park
    Time: 10am
    Pace: 7:10-7:45
    Distance: 15 miles

    Route TBD

You know the Frank Duffy 10 Mile is being run in the park at 10 AM on Sat?

Be very difficult to get into the park.

    Hi Shane,

Thanks for letting me know - that would have been a nasty surprise!

    I'll reconsider that post.

Anyone interested in a run next week?

    Phoenix Park

    Pace: 7:25-7:40 min/mile

    Friday Evening or Saturday morning?

    Distance: 18 miles

    Open to suggestions!

  • Registered Users Posts: 4 Brianmartin

    Hi dublin runner,

I'd be interested in running that one with you.

Would Sat morning about 9am suit you?

    Brian

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,065 ✭✭✭dublin runner

Hey, sounds good. Are you training for Dublin Marathon or have another race in mind? The long runs can be a lot easier with company!

  • Registered Users Posts: 4 Brianmartin

Yep - exactly that. This is my first marathon and also my first time running that distance but the pace is perfect.

I know what you mean - nice to have someone keep you honest on the long runs.

    Any preference on a route?

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,065 ✭✭✭dublin runner

Brilliant. I'm not too fussed. Might need a drink of water at some point so along as it's laps or going by a shop I am happy. Any goal time for Dublin?

  • Registered Users Posts: 4 Brianmartin

    Sure thing, that sounds good.

Goal time is a rough 3hr30min. If I can eek out a slightly better time I'll be happy.

Are you doing it yourself or are you training for something else?

Mod: Please keep this thread for arranging training sessions not for conversation. If you wish to continue this set up a training log

guys sorry to butt in but am I right in thinking that you're shooting for a 3:30 hour marathon and are planning on doing your long run 20-35 seconds faster than MP?

injury and no running makes the mods very cranky :D

Marathon pace goal is 6.50 per/mile. LSR training is around thirty to fifty seconds slower so if anyone wants to join in, work away!

  • Registered Users Posts: 234 ✭✭Skidrow

    Location Phoenix Park
    Time Fri 23rd August 4.30pm
    Meet Papal Cross car park
    Session LSR

    Confirmed
Skidrow 17 miles @ 10:00 (loop back to car after each 6m - may do some at 9.30min/mile)

15 miles @ 6:20-6:25 pace on a Friday evening. Anyone?!

Real longshot here but am chucking it out anyway. I have two PMP sessions coming up over next two weeks, which I'll probably do somewhere around Dublin City Centre on evenings of Friday 30th August & 27th September. I'm really bad at these sessions when doing them alone, so am looking for company for all or part of it.

Likelihood is that I'll make my way to Phoenix Park to do them there (plus 2 miles warm-up/cooldown getting there/getting out of there). Would be coming from Blackrock (by foot or public transport), so could also do somewhere between Blackrock and city centre.

Really specific I know, but worth a shot!

I would've definitely been up for that Peckham if it wasnt for the 10mile race the next day. But if you'd be willing to push it back a week I could help you out then.

30 August is good for me. I need to get a long run on Friday in as I'm off to Liverpool on the Saturday morning.
I could leave from work in the city (St. Stephen's Green) around 5pm and head towards the Park?

I would like to do a 3 hour run, any morning or evening this week [so at "OMFG" O'Clock or [more sensibly] after work].

Off on Honeymoon very early Saturday morning, and want to get something like a 20 miler done before I leave. My pref would be for Wednesday or Thursday I guess?

Flexible on pace, but I guess we can start the bidding around 9 min miles?

In the unlikely chance anyone else is thinking the same thing thought I would throw it in here..

Any chance of jumping in with the 7:45 group?

Quick question, is the route looped? Just thinking may need a drink at some point if warmish.

Any chance of you being up for a progression run and doing, say, 15 miles at 6:25 pace? RunForestRun might be interested too.
