    Since post #106, apparently.
'Wicked' is more of an English chav word, I think. 'Deadly' and 'savage' are the Irish equivalents, depending on whether you're more like a skanger or a culchie.

"Here, d'ya see Anto's tattoo? It's ****in' deadly, boi"

    OR

"Jaysus, did you see Paddy's tattoo? I tell ya, it's savage altogether".

    (Ridiculous generalisation/stereotypes ftw.)

I would have thought "savage" was more D4 than culch.... wait, this is way off topic.

I have cousins in Cavan (Thoroughly non-D4 cousins) who use it, its like ear rape.

    Eh....so what?
If they think it "looks wicked" why is that not a good enough reason to get one? Who says tattoos have to have some big deep spiritual meaning?

If someone spends ages thinking about a tattoo and gets something personal that means a lot to them, that's great. But why shouldn't other people, who don't really have any personal reason to get one, be allowed get one that just looks nice?

Maybe in 10 years time those tattoos would probably not seem so cool, and then they'll be stuck with strange symbols in their skin which hold little or no personal value. Or, maybe they could end up really getting into the scene, and they'll remember it fondly as their first ever tattoo. I don't know.

It's so long ago since I made the original point that I no longer really care, TBH. *shrugs*

Wait until you know what you want and are 100% happy with it. Don't mind about your motives, just be sure you like what you are gonna get on yourself :)

A guy in my year in 3rd year got a scorpian (i think) on each shoulder blade.. a dragon all the way down his calf, 2 other things (i forget what they were, but pretty sure they matched, like the scorpians ) on either side of his chest, and a cross the whole way down his forearm..

again - in third year!! he was like 15.. and all of them (exculding the cross) were horribly colourful.. and he got them all over the course of third year ..

Also;Tattoos are as much of an accesory as clothes are, some suit people, some don't,even if they have meaning[which they should] do it right, you have to live with it.

I would, but I don't think I'd have the balls to get something that stolen or copyrighted done.I'm not THAT cheap

Personally I don't think anybody looks good with a tattoo. I know people talk about them looking good when they're "done right" but I just don't see it. To me they've always seemed like fairly ugly looking blemishes.

It's obvious that everybody but me must be crazy.

    Here is what I want done;

    The_Coy_Fish_Dragon_by_DanieMahaffey.jpg

    Dragon_Koi_by_vegetathealmighty.jpg

It is a dragon koi fish, the reason why I want it done is because in Mythology it means Overcoming obstacles.

The main issue I have people getting tattoos are the people who say "Oh I wouldn't get a tattoo if I didn't mean anything"

You should be able to get a tattoo just because you like it without listening to the above. I blame Miami/LA ink for this rubbish.

LA ink is the worst show on TV. Kat Von Dee is the most annoying person to listen to and she has a massive ego aswell. She always says she is friends with this celebrity or wannabe celebrity and then refuses to do any tattoo that is not a black and grey portrait. Also she isn't the best artist in that shop. Corey Miller is the best artist in that shop.

That doesn't matter really, she owns the place and do whatever she wants. Celebrity thing is just to get high paying clients in the door.

NO, wait until you are 18 because no decent tattoo artist will even talk to you about tattoos let alone do a tattoo on you.

lol, those top ten people are mental looking!!

I have 3 tattoos and I like every one of them. But I have friends who hate them and thats fine.

I thought about the ones I wanted, one I got at age 16, one at 17 and one at 25 and I really like them all.

All are in places that can be covered and all bar one are on my back, in a place I can't see unless I'm looking in the mirror.

I very much doubt I will regret either of those at all because I'm not looking at them every day of the week. The only one I might regret is the one on my foot, but hey, I'll deal with that when the time comes.
