I can't believe they kept Rachel over Austin!

To be honest.. every single one of the contestants didn't impress whatsoever last night!

Think it was the worst week so far... and I'm starting to move towards the opinion that these are a hugely untalented bunch of singers.

Very much agreed, it was all pretty underwhelming. But I still think that there are two or three that do have something; but it's impossible to decipher with this "theme night" BS.

Worst week so far - nobody stood out from the crowd at all. Last week was a lot better. I think Daniel is getting the symptahy vote at this stage - not so sure he really has what it takes.

I hate the themes every week....Mariah Carey next week...yuck.
Maybe we'll get something interesting like Thrash Metal in the weeks to come:rolleyes:

Agreed on the comments re theme night. I guess their justification is that it shows the range, or lack of, amongst the contestants. I reckon it only serves to give free publicity to the various guest artists.
My overall interest in the show is a little on the wane tbh. I've become tired of the epic build up's and scripted quotes before each performance. Also I would like to land a punch on the face of that forever hood wearing po faced twat Brian Freidman.
    JLS FTW.

I can get most of the show online but I can't seem to get the full results part on You Tube or anything. Anyone know where I can see it?

wasn't impresses with last night, song choices could have been much much better.half of them weren't even disco!Ruth was the best in my opinion,so much passion.

Just do what my wife does, Sky+ or record it and watch it later or the next day, I swear to god you can watch every song and the results in about 20 minutes, they must really pad it out with **** if it takes 2 hours or so to watch it in real time. They only time we watch the show in full is for the auditions.

Anyway, I've come to the conclusion (have for a long time actually) that this is not a talent show, it's a sympathy show because how else can you explain more than half the fu(king tits still left on the show, 2 or 3 of the best singers got left behind in boot camp and if Cheryl whinges on again about 'why do we have to do this part of the show' when it comes to deciding who to kick out I'll personally audition next year just to slap her whining gob.

I'm really bored with this year's X Factor, all the contestants are so meh. Rachel hasn't given one decent performance yet after all the hype around her. I was hoping she'd get sent home, but knew she wouldn't, all the judges love her for some reason. Austin wasn't anything new, but he wasn't the worst singer left and probably deserved to stay another few weeks.

The sooner Daniel, Eoghan and JLS go (preferably in that order) the better. Daniel is just crap, even though to be fair, Saturday night wasn't his worst performance. Eoghan sounds like a child when he sings, there's no power to his voice at all.

I liked Diana at the start, but she's starting to annoy me a bit now. Alexandra to win!

Meh, still hope she goes soon.

Have to say, whatever about the judges, I'm LOVING Dermot's jokes about Louis loving the camp sailors, and all the other references to his sexuality. He gets SO thick!

The words pot, kettle and black come to mind...

Louis Walsh has blamed "sympathy voters" for Daniel Evans's continued progress on The X Factor.

In last night's show, the pool cleaner was criticised by the judges for his performance of 'Don't Leave Me This Way', made famous by Harold Melvin & the Blue Notes, but he was still voted through to the next round by the public.

Irish judge Walsh hit out on ITV2's Xtra Factor after Evans's mentor Dannii Minogue claimed that he deserved to be backed by voters.

"He has major fans and thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you for voting!" Minogue said. "I actually think he did a great performance tonight. I thought that song suited him so well and I loved his performance."

Walsh cut in: "Hey, let's cut to the chase, he's getting the sympathy vote. That's it."

Evans had been in the bottom two last weekend but was eventually saved by Walsh in the judges' vote. He appeared to regret the choice later, admitting that he "fell for the sympathy vote" when asked to make his decision.

    HYPOCRITE LOUIS

    I'm so glad Austin went

Louis is a clown and I loved it when JLS were overpowered by their own BACKING TRACK on Saturday as I always maintained that, in exact opposition to Louis's claims, that JLS haven't got the soul or the power to be anywhere near a Motown act. They are just your run of the mill boyband (a crap one at that). All I'll give them is that they are organised in terms of choreography.

Methinks Louis is systemetically picking off Simons acts!!! I don't actually like Austin or the guy that went last week. But they are fairly good singers.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 976 ✭✭✭overexcitedaj

I thought Austin was a good singer. i admit nothing i haven't heard before but he is better than the likes of Rachel, JLS and Eoghan . As for Daniel i dunno i cant seem to hate him. I know he is no good but i cant stop but be happy when he gets through.
    Diane ftw!!!!!!!!!!!

I don't think much of Diana at all, her accent when she sings is so affected and as for her arms - way too OTT.
I've heard some contrived accents, and Diana's beats them all. I can't believe she didn't get a slating from at least one judge for it. I thought Simon would have picked her up on it ages ago - he usually hates fake crap like that. I find Diana actually unbearable to listen to. She can sing, but that accent...
Don't know what you all seem to have against diana, i think she is class probably my favourite in it (although i am a guy so that might have something to do with it).
Wow... "against" her? I'm mostly seeing gushing praise for her on this thread.

I think this season of X-Factor is a complete and utter joke. Every week the judges heap praise on acts that are beyond dreadful and have the balls to criticise some acts who "cant relate to the audience".

Far too many of the acts annoy the hell out of me.
Dianas "unique" method of singing is really starting to grate.
Despite Rachael sometimes sounding good, her attitude and personality completely turns me off her. I would go so far as to say that she disgusts me.
Daniel...........christ..........do I really need to say anything?
And poor Eoghan. I pity him, I really do. He sooooo young and its horrible how the judges are leading him on and deluding him into thinking he’s any good.
JLS look like a proper boyband (vocal harmony group, whatever), but when it comes to singing, only one of them impresses me and the rest tend to get lost in the massive sound of added backing singers.
Austin (god rest his soul) actually had some singing chops and was one of the few acts I could bare to listen to more than once. But the judges kept playing up how desperate he was, so he was never going to win.
Alex and Laura and Ruth are all pretty good (and each bring something different to the table) so one of them should win.

But I think the thing that most puts me off this show is the judges and the way they carry on with each other. The snide personal remarks that each of them make towards each other (especially Louis), turn my stomach.

From now on I think I'll stick with the infinitely superior American Idol!

With any luck Daniel will be booted of next week. He shouldn't have made it through to the live stages. He's there purely because he's getting the sympathy vote.
I do agree that Rachel was kept over Austin though but I don't think that they should have been bottom 2. I think Daniel should have just been kicked off and left everyone else stay for next weeks show (which is a really bad theme all the same!)

I can't believe that Diana is seen as a singer with a gift. Every line she "sings" ends with almost a yodel. The accent is brutal and her look is brutal too. I'm sorry, but compared to Leona Lewis, this kid is a one trick pony and I dont understand why the public are keeping her in, I thought she would be gone a long time ago.

I do a part time degree in Griffith College in the evenings. I couldnt believe my eyes last week, several girls, looking the spitting image of Diana in the canteen. Pale lipstick, horrible messy hair, baggy clothing. It looked disgusting and wrong!

    http://www.petitiononline.com/mod_perl/signed.cgi?AustinD&1

    Why?

Its a competition, the procedure was followed, the Judges voted and he got the axe. I dont know if he would endorse this petition but it would seriously damage him and any future career he may have, you know with the ungracefulness e.t.c.

My personal opinion was one of disbelief that Rachel survived, there is no likability surrounding her at all. At least you can look at Daniel and say, jesus you're a Jammy Dodger and he knows it. Austin was just unlucky it came down to Louis...

Louis is a total and utter train wreck on TV, every time he opens that mouth you are sure stupidity will ensue. He's not suited to being on the front line but I think he's a narcissist and it's ignorance which is the overriding commanding element here.

Danny is also terrible, I know I would feel miffed if some 2bit washed up C list singer was giving me critique if I was in the league of the the majority of the finalists in singing ability.

Just a couple of thoughts I have about the show that I believe the consensus thinks but does not say!!!

Otherwise I have great admiration for the show, It is the only piece of TV that replicates the Saturday night entertainment we used to enjoy in the 90's, where there was actually good reason to stay in.

+1. This "gift" people refer to is her "kookiness" and "quirkiness" which is really just... annoying. Yeah I know what you mean about that "yelping" crap. Why the judges don't haul her up on it I can't understand. Surely it would piss them off, especially Simon. I also think Diana's voice is actually quite poor - it's not particularly strong and it's out of tune. And she gets compared to Kate Bush - wtf?!

The other girls are far, far stronger imo.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,835 ✭✭✭unreggd

But its not just about having a strong voice!

It may not be as strong as Laura's, but its still strong in general

Watch her Audition and Call Me and its clearer there

She's goin to win cos she's been consistently good and improved over the weeks

hope Laura goes before the final, I just cant stand her, and she doesnt need to win

    WHY?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,105 ✭✭✭LadyMayBelle

What annoys me about Diana is that they make her out to be unique and quirky, but flippin hell they are the ones dressing her, telling her what to sing, trying to make her "individual"...i watched her audition tape earlier, none of that hand nonsense, she didn't sound great...it was a song she chose..and it was a James Blunt song she sang. Nuff said. Girl wouldn't know quirky if it brushed her hair...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,835 ✭✭✭unreggd

    WHY?
Because, she'll get a contract no problem

Thats why Rhydian didnt win last year

If Leon didnt win he most likely wouldnt have been signed

If Laura doesnt win, she'll easily get signed
it was a James Blunt song she sang. Nuff said

It was a Damien Rice song actually :)

I'm finding it difficult extrapolating any sense from that.

    But I'll have a go,

So by your reckoning Laura does not need to win because she has the best voice, which would lead me to believe that the winner should be the person with the poorest voice as they need the contract/leg-up so Daniel should win?

Also, Laura had the same voice before the X-Factor, why wasnt she signed before now ask yourself.

At the end of the day, the X-Factor offers a direct avenue to potential stardom. A prepackaged contract that many singers need to spend 10years plus trying to achieve, I reckon that if you were to convey your point to Laura or any other contestant they would give you a nice sturdy open-palmed slap across the face and Rachael would stick you with a sharp object.

Yes you're right, Leon probably would not of been signed but who is to say anyone should or will be signed if they dont win. How would such a show survive if everyone was to be signed after being voted off. By being voted off the public are saying..."We Dont Like You" (In the extreme).

Rhydian didnt with because he was as appealing as Cat Sick.
