Exactly. Make what you want of this. I know what I think.

A good news story re RYR, mostly....

We were at the gate about to get into the airbridge for our flight from Malaga to Dublin On Sunday last 20/3. Then the flight was summarily cancelled due to the air traffic controller strike in France. At that point it had been delayed by a few hours anyway.

    Uh oh.

We were told to go to the RYR customer service desk in T2 departures to get sorted out.

Oh dear, when we got there, the pax from EVERY Ryr flight cancelled was in a queue about a km long. We queued from 7pm until 4am the following morning to get re-booked (online was impossible let me tell you), and to get a hotel.

So when we got to the desk, they booked us on a flight on the following Tuesday, and arranged for a hotel in Malaga for two nights + taxi. The hotel was fabulous, and I don't know how they squeezed us in as it was Easter Week and the whole city was heaving, it's a big thing in Spain.

So apart from having to queue for hours they sorted us out, and we got back no problem on Tuesday. Another thing, when we got through security for the original flight we bought alcohol in the DF. We were only using carry on. So when we mentioned this on the night of the re arrangements, no problem, heres a note, go to check in at departures and you have a free check in for your hand luggage so you can put the booze in the hold.

Just another side to the RYR story.

Good resolution but Jesus, 9 hours queuing!!

Good resolution but Jesus, 9 hours queuing!!

Yes it was tedious as hell, and our feet were sore too. But I got fed up standing after two hours and pinched a chair from a nearby cafe. Sat down, bliss. Then my OH and everyone else did the same thing (the cafe had closed by this stage as they do when you're in need of a coffee!).

So there we were sitting on borrowed chairs doing the RYR shuffle. But it had to be done. And we had nice people all around us, so chatting helped pass the time. Also there was a charging point right next to us for the ipads and phones so we were sorted that way too, and +1 to Malaga airport for THAT facility which was so essential given the long queue!

Oh and just another tip for forward planning in the event of such a delay/queue. ALWAYS have a plug adaptor with you for charging up! And a power pack too in case the airport doesn't have charging facilities.

My adaptor was borrowed by loads of people, and I was happy to oblige!

If I ever come face to face with a French ATC I'll end up in a cell.

There will be more of the same from now on and throughout the Summer I reckon, so get your anger management sorted right now LOL.

A cell is no place to spend your holliers.... ;)

At some point in the future, I'll be bored enough to do an analysis on this thread and see how many negative (as there are positive posts, like above, it'll have to be picked through) posts there are over time, before and after the "cuddly Ryanair" changes done a few years ago.

I'd take a stab in the dark that the in-flight complaints are the same, but everything else has probably fallen.

What kind of in flight complaints are there?

I only have a hissy if there's no food left for me. But then again, as a forward planner I always have something in reserve in case I might starve on a two and a half hour flight or that, lol. A banana and some chocolate. Easy to carry and will keep you going with a cup of tay.

:) Seriously though, last weekend was their 41st strike since 2009.

That's the Frogs for you. I blame Monsieur Hollande, he's a Socialist and will not tackle the Unions.

As a matter of fact no one will either. The other little Napoleon on the Right, Monsieur Sarkozy did try, but he failed aswell.

Dem Frogs are the pits. Maybe the EU could bring in a directive that ATC will be fined if they strike or something like that. Or indeed they pay the bills of all the airlines who have to fork out (like for us) when they are the cause of cancellations and delays.

I wonder if MOL has investigated this aspect? He'd be the one to do it I reckon.

Staff anywhere on the scale from just grumpy through to aggressive and abrasive; yes - food and drink supply issues (although Aer Lingus are much worse here these days); pushy selling on the non quiet flights.

Ah come on, the flight staff are always grand. I've never had a problem with them even if they sometimes look grumpy. So what? Ever had a bad day at work? I did, and I could be a demon!

What interractions would we normally have with them? Coffee, tea, grub, perfume, stratchies. If they don't have what's on the card, that's not their fault. No point in getting angry with them is there?

Pushy selling? Never saw that, only a trolley with perfume and I make no eye contact, no problem, same with the fekkin scratchcards. Feel sorry for them having to do that TBH.

Anyway. Getting from A to B is my mission.

I'm not requiring people to have issues with them now!

    Ah I know that.

Be interested in the results of your survey in due course though!

The RY seats are hard on the a**e though. That make the survey? ;)

Hi guys, does anyone know if I can book a Ryanair flight without having my passport number at the moment? It'll be here in about two weeks but I want to book the flight now I think they ask you for your passport number for booking though? Thanks

You only need your passport number when checking in, not for booking

    Already done: http://www.keepeuropesskiesopen.com/

Don't expect the French to pay any attention, though. They're too busy burning the centre of Paris at the moment in protest at the government's proposal to make it easier to create jobs.

That's what I was doing. I put in name and the next stage was payment. I wasn't sure if after payment details it might ask me on next page for more info. Didn't want pay and then be stuck.....

How in the name of god do I contact Ryanair? I believe I'm entitled to transport costs after they changed my return flight.

I went on live chat and the guy told me to fill in a document and sent me the link, then he closed the chat without giving me a chance to ask anything else. When I tried to fill in the document it wouldn't accept my flight number for some reason.

Now I'm in the queue for live chat again, it said waiting time approximately 15 minutes, I've now been waiting 1 hour. It says 2 minutes remaining but it's been saying that for 30 minutes now.

When you click on contact via email the website just brings you to the FAQs.

The last time I called their customer service phone number a few years ago no one ever answered the phone!

    Any advice?
    Thanks in advance.
