    Wow

    An amazing pleasure

A photo of mine - which I posted on Flickr -was selected as a Flickr' Explore' photo:)

These photos ( picked by some alogarithm)are not chosen on their merits as a decent photo( although it apparently plays a part) but more on the profile of the photagrapher as a good team player for Flickr- building bridges etc

You cannot post a photo into that group - it has to be chosen

Never thought I'd see the day when a flickr upload of mine would get over 2000 views and a 100 thanks:eek:

Not surprising, as you produce a regular string of outstanding bird photos here every week.

Dippers are great fun to watch

They dive in to the water and seem to search along river bottom in relatively shallow parts of the river

I’ve only ever seen them ‘catch’ kinda tiny crustaceans/invertebrates which they batter against a rock/stone and then eat
But today – I think this guy got a bit of a shock – he caught a small fish( stickleback??)- and I don’t think he was sure what to do with it – not sure what happened in the end – think the fish may have escaped!

I was pottering about the garden this morning and spotted something moving slowly over Persicaria foliage. Upon closer inspection, it turned out to be a newly emerged adult moth. It rested on a leaf, and over the course of an hour and a half it transformed from a rather dull looking thing into a most beautiful Early Thorn moth (Selenia dentaria).

Crab on Portmarnock beach today (I don't know of exact species/ID). I often see crab remains on the sand so was surprised to see this one scuttling away!

I was delighted to see this little beauty in my garden this morning. It's a female Andrena bicolor (Gwynne's Mining Bee), and she stayed briefly to forage on Anemone blanda flowers.
