That looks like a very decent otter pic to me. Well done.

    This guy landed a long distance away - and in the shadows- so both me and my camera were unprepared( it was a very bright morning and settings were on that basis}

So I'm posting it in a smaller size than usual so you won't see the defects:)

@Hotie - what a fantastic selection of photos:)

Must say that the first 'Sunset on thew Curragh' pic is a real winner for me... that's one you can imagine in a frame in your favourite room.

Today- Dodder.. saw this guy perched.. and as always as I raised the camera- he flew off. Not too disappointed with result

    Thanks a million, keps. :)
I only recently had some of my favourite images put on canvas, and yeah, the sunset image you mentioned might look well on the wall too. The Curragh is a wonderful place to watch the sun go down in the evenings - I'm lucky to have it on my doorstep.

Beautiful day just north of Enniscorthy today...without even looking for them, I had a pair of Buzzards overhead, then Ravens, large quantities of Martins and Swallows, but this is all that I photographed on my ancient Nokia phone.

I have never taken a serious interest in Butterflies and I didn't even know that Red Admirals were migrants until today. Interesting synopsis here: https://www.irelandswildlife.com/red-admiral-vanessa-atalanta/

Cabbage Whites - they are another matter entirely - and when I used to grow my own vegetables what their caterpillars didn't eat the Wood Pigeons got. :D

I was a long way away( lens is at 550mm) when I noticed this guy pounce on something in the water… so I took a shot –

This is the version of the same photo enlarged in photoshop

    36745402810_6dec0eeb34_b.jpgheron with trout

I took another photo a second or two later and the trout was gone.. it either wriggled its way off or the heron somehow got it off. Certainly did not get to eat it!

Male spars are amazingly small, considering the fact they have to tussle with live prey every day, great birds.

    Dipper

One of the three distinct subspecies of breeding birds in Ireland( Coal Tit and Jay being the other two)

The Dippers are pretty particular about the quality of the water they live/breed in so it's good to see a few on the Dodder

I think this is a parent Moorhen and chick even though it's late in the year( today)- I remember when taking pics of the Liffey in Lucan a local told me he was sure that that year( 2015) the Moorhens had 4 broods and that was Sept.

On the roof of the apartment block I live in

The heron continues to try to force the cormorant( young ) to start fishing- as it sees itself as a beneficiary( I've posted about the benefit of this to the heron before with pics)
