Just threw the Ryzen build together here's a quick spec list

    Ryzen 3700x
    Gigabyte X570 Aorus elite
    32GB Ballistix 3200 RAM
    Corsair MP600 1TB 4.0 SSD
    Radeon 5700xt
    4TB Western Digital Blue
    BeQuiet Dark rock pro 4
Corsair 270 case (Had lying around)
    EVGA 750GQ PSU
Random thermaltake Fans - Will be changing these to Noctua fans when I add the Ram and new CPU

Think that's everything some of the parts I had spare from upgrading my Intel build from a 8700k to a 9900k I plan on upgrading this to Ryzen 9 3950x when they are released, 128GB Memory and a few TB of SSD Storage as I will be running multiple VM labs otherwise it'll be kept fairly plain looking as its more of a work horse machine,

Honestly haven't had any issues but I wont be gaming on it as my intel machine had a RTX2080ti in it just bought it as i wanted it to be a full 7nm build I let my nephew play fortnite on it for a day to test it and there was no issues when i checked temps he seemed delighted his only comment was the load times are amazing, if it starts having temp issues ill return it to Amazon and get an AIB card

Not sure i'd run the fan configuration you have there. Must be a load of turbulent air in there. Would you not run at least one exhaust?

Cheers good spot I will be configuring properly once I am installing the noctua fans its not doing a whole lot at the moment I pretty much threw it together once all the parts arrived to make sure everything works

Looks savage. Where did you source the threaded cabling? I looked into it a few years back and from some reason I remember it wrecking my head so much that I gave up on the idea.

Got them on Amazon. Cheap enough too. Need to straighten them up a bit.

Such a shame the GPU temps are not great:(

Im still sitting on a brand new unopened coolermaster H500,cant get the motivation to change it over from the NZXT. I will eventually but i do like the visuals of the NZXT if not the performance!

    Ryzen 3000 build finally done.

Despite all my work the custom fan curves, I don't think I can live the Wraith. I've a Noctua cooler on order to replace it, sadly it won't look nearly as good.

Plus, I bent the pins in the USB 3.0 front header on the board, so I'm making do with USB 2.0 speeds to the front.

The 1070 is getting on now at 3 years old - I may look up a 5700XT as a replacement at around Christmas.

    Specs:
    Ryzen 7 3700X
Gigabyte X570 I Aorus Pro WIFI
    32GB Corsair DDR4-3200MHz
    MSi GTX 1070 Gaming X
    Aorus 1TB PCIe 4.0 M.2 NVMe SSD
    Crucial MX500 2TB SSD
    Corsair SF450
    Fractal Design Define Nano S

    (Camera quality isn't great)

The wraith cooler is very quiet with a custom profile. Mine is set to top out at 40% speed and I can't even hear it and cools just fine. Left to its own devices it is indeed a huge pain though.

My fans arrived and i swapped out the stock ones. Temps dropped even more. Very happy with the results.

What're the numbers for CPU/GPU under load now?

CPU idle's at 29C and 42C under load. GPU idle's at 33C and 60C under load.

GPU was idling at 43C before the new fans.

    My Home Media-Server/NAS:

    AMD Ryzen 3 2200G
    Asus Prime B450M-A
    16GB Crucial DDR4-2400MHz
    Fractal Design Define R5

    Hard Drives:
    Crucial MX500 250GB
    Samsung 860 Evo 1TB
39TB (Mixture of Desktop & NAS HDDs, I'll change them all to NAS drives over time)

Not the most elegant or swank, but it's proving to be extremely reliable in getting the job done.

What's being stored on that much space?

Tempted to build something similar to replace my ageing 4-bay Synology NASs. They're coming up to 10 years old but they've been damn reliable. What are you running on it? I'm liking the idea of an UnRAID setup of late.
At the moment - Windows. I've it configured as much like a server as I can though, everything runs as a service with no user account logged in.

I ran Debian 10 command line only on it for a while, and while great for resource usage I found it quite limiting as I've grown very used to remote desktop on my phone to configure stuff. I kind of want to try out Windows Server on it as a result.

Another thing is that I'm not actually running any form of RAID either. I use sync software running in the background as a scheduled task instead. What I'm doing is equivalent to running 4 seperate RAID 1 arrays. I like the simplicity of this setup as it means I'm not dependent on a particular motherboard or RAID card to swap drives to another machine.

UnRaid does the same thing essentially but I gather UnRaid is limited to one array only, and rebuilding an array is a manual process too?

I used to back up my "Linux ISO's" to external hard drive but with modern speeds I can just grab that "Linux ISO" again very quickly

DRM, loss of licenses & streaming quality make the legal options less enticing long-term.

He may mean there will always be a less than legal way to acquire something very quickly on the internet, thus negating the need to hoard any media.

I used to think that, but there's tons of old 70s/80s anime that's very hard to find for viewing I've found - both legal & not.

Technically it's 18TB with the redundancy I have configured. :p

Here's my uncompleted Unraid build so far (case is a Phanteks Enthoo Pro):

    IMG-20190823-155630.jpg

    IMG-20190824-114901.jpg

    IMG-20190824-114920.jpg

I still need data drives, so have x4 WD Red 6TB's waiting to be bought. With Unraid, one of these will be used as a parity drive, and I'll have the other three providing space for data (18TB useable). Should be PLENTY for me for the forseeable future (my current library is less than 8TB).

There's plenty of reasons to keep a local media library. A lot of content isn't always as readily available as one might think, and even if it is, there's no attesting to its quality (there's so many cheap/crappy encodes out there). There's a LOT of older content, and even Irish content, that's pretty hard to find online, and when found, is barely watchable.

I love having 1:1 rips of content, particularly of tv shows that I love. The quality of streaming and the ever changing catalogues mean having and managing my own local library is far more preferable to me.
