Cheers for the feedback Col, we will take that on board....

Guys and Girls; We want to get as much input on this as possible.

Basically the original one posted (last week by me) awards slightly more to the final table, pays more players but rewards people slightly less for finishing outside the final few tables....

A lot of people were fairly vocal on this here on Boards last year, I would like to get LuckLloyd's input on this as well as a few others.....Jeff has taken input here on what they said last year but I personally want to make sure that the winner(s) gets a decent chunk of change whilst doing our best to ensure that all the new players with maybe less experience cash on the outskirts for a fair win too.

Both payout structures are fairly flat but with so much added money we can afford it ***end shameless self promotion***

    Payout to top 100 people

1st Prize - 20% - 35k approx (there will be a deal done anyways but people will ask what is 1st place prize money so think of promotion wise)
    Minimum Prize 500 quid

    Balance the books in between

I like Jeff's payout structure more than yours. It doubles the buyin for those that mincash and still provides 20x the buyin for the first exit from the final table. And with his payout structure, I would have made €850 instead of an incredibly self - defeating €410 from last year's tournament.

Ideally, I would like his percentages with a MAXIMUM (irrespective of runners) of 100 getting paid.

Remember that I don't believe you should be fixing the structure so that you have the biggest possible number for first. If you want to think of the long - term potential of the event I think it is better to have Jeff's flatter payout structure so that those who do battle through for a cash feel it is worth their time. Particularly if you intend to have groups of friends traveling over for the event - if one of their mates makes a grand for finishing 36 - they may be more likely to come over next year even if they have all lost money on the trip as a whole. lol fish - but that is what we want.

€25k for two days work and €150 of risk is still something that is marketable anyway imo.

i heard someone remark at a tourney a while back that there was €1million guaranteed for this... i dont think they were very good at maths.

Is <10% being paid not very tight?

Keep the feedback coming guys, we want to get as many opinions as possible here.....You are the audience after all, and it is your money.

Much prefer the structure posted by DITPoker, should def not be anymore than top 10% paid for this. Will the prize money for the top 3/4 places lead most likely to a deal being done when it gets down to this? This is prob the norm anyway?

  • Registered Users Posts: 753 ✭✭✭Legend_DIT

Prefer Jeff's structure - especially jumps (even if small) for a maximum of 9 per prize position.

On a side note, how much do I need to pay into a Boylesports shop to enter this tournament? Has dollar fluctuation meant that it's now more than €150?

Entry costs €150, but you will need to lodge more than that in order to play tournaments etc on BoylePoker.com :) (they are adding 20% of all rake directly to the prize-pool).....If you have any probs over the dollar fluctuations just contact support but entry into the tournament costs €150

    __________

Winnings for this tournament are going to be paid into player's accounts so this means being paid in US$ too. We are going to go by the exchange rate as of 20th October 2008.

Ok, myself and Jeff will be talking it over with the BoylePoker crew tomorrow but I think we will be suggesting the 117 payout as illustrated by Jeff.....The above is based on a €182,000 prize-pool but we should have a good bit more than that. If this is the case I think we will be rewarding the final table finishers with extra cash.

    _____________________

The current prize-pool is now displayed on boylepoker.com/ipo this will be updated twice a week.

    IPO 2008 Tournament Rules:
#47: Any deal at the final table must leave a minimum of €3,000 to be played for for the winner.

The above is in the rules as of about a week ago. And will be published on the tournament website asap. It will also be printed and available to all players on the day, and players will be advised via email to be familiar with the tournament rules prior to the start of the event. Also, with a flatter payout we are hoping the will be no deals done.

I got the flyers in the mail today. They are pretty nice, no idea where I will use them though!

Will this be a non-drinking event like the rest of poker ireland events?

No alcohol allowed at the tables, bar located about 16 feet from the main playing area (basically same deal as Irish Open, Citywest this year).

Residents bar open all hours for hotel guests too.

Small suggestion, stop listening to poker players about what they want, poker players dont know what they want, despite having some bizzare ideas every now and then Jeff knows what hes doing.

Below is for discussion. Any suggestions, or is this fair to everyone? i.e. 10% paid, 101k at final table, double money for cashing, etc? The below is for a sellout + 20,000 added, so €182,000 total. This does not include any additional rake generated prizepool, of which there will be lots and lots and lots!

€65,392.60 is the up to date prize-pool as it stands right now (there are at least 100 more overseas players planning to play that I know of - flights booked etc - but who have yet to register).

I make that €21,922.60 in added prize-money as of this date. Guys and girls please get on and get registered today. The more you play on the site the more you will add directly to the prize-pool.

    Cheers,
    Stephen Mc Lean.

    336 registered today.

    Prize-pool over €66,500.

Quick suggestion was made to me yesterday by a player already reg'd; close the registration today. He wants to play a 300 runner €150 tournament to get a slice of the €66k prize-pool. Anyone agree? :)

I wanted to come on here just to tip my cap to Stephen and Ciaran Corbett of Boylesports. Last night I PMd Stephen regarding the fact that I knew I had an old Boyles account but remember nothing about it i.e username and password. I also told him how my Laser card is locked from being used after allowing a friend to use it on his account.

First thing this morning I got a call off Ciaran Corbett and the old account and Laser Card were activated in a matter of seconds. Fair play and I must say Im very impressed with the level and speed of customer support Boyles have showed everyone recently.
