lol.... i read your first post and got all worried, wanting to make sure this was sorted ASAP, but looks like Boyle's are on the ball! :) well done team boyle! :p now get to raking so the prize pool goes up and up and up!!! all set with accomodation? or are you a dublin head?

Also, another question for players.. at alot of these festival events there are sit and go's ranging from 50-500 euro a go usually, would there be much demand for omaha sit and go's? or need i bother designing a structure, given that most omahahahahaha players like their cash games?

To register for the tournament it has to be done via the boyle's lobby. Money can be put online via their website (sportsbook) or via the poker software (poker account). If you dont have a credit card you can deposit cash via any of the Boyle Sports betting shops around the country.

Have you been unable to deposit on the software?

    Hi all,

Great to see some more peops getting enthusiastic about this tournament. We've even got Bohsman on board now :p

    _____________

Just to clarify on the entry fee; it costs €150 to play in this tournament.

As far as I am aware now there are no players being allowed to enter without paying registration fee or anything like that.

    Cheers,

    Hey Carfax,

An Idea, Why dont you tape the final table with holes cards and all and get some poor art / tv students from DIT (augier St rules) produce and edit a programme for Viewing with comaterary and stick it up on poker tube!!

A couple of months ago i seen a thread about a couple of boys who built a full size table with hole card camera's and the lot!! See if they have it, could be the first step to go to a full broadcast next year!!

    Cheers

We're in the process of doing up a type of blog on pokerireland.ie at the moment. The idea is that players can get on and upload their picture, tournament results to date and a bit of humour or a quote or something like that.

Do we think this is a good idea?, will it take off? Do you want to read about the players that are going to take part in the IPO?, Do you think players will want to have an idea of who they might come up against over the course of the tournament?

Thats the idea alright Danny.....I think we are actually going to look more along the lines of a physical programme on the day that players can read through before, during and after the event.....The blog might be a bit too much work for Jeff and I at the moment.

    Hi Rob,

We have the order gone into the printers (serious delay in the design process on this) and will have them in our hands by Tuesday. I expect to have them posted out by the end of next week.

    Cheers,

BTW; we are sorted for a TV table thanks to JP.

To answer some of the PM's received, all containing "too lazy to read through the entire thread" etc, here are the cliff notes on registration:

Step 1: Set up an account with BoylePoker. The software can be downloaded from BoylePoker.com. Choose a unique nickname, make it funny! ghost_of_amaru is still free.
Step 2: Deposit money into your account, at least €150, preferably more. This can be done by credit card. If you prefer, you can also lodge money onto your shiny new Boyle Poker account via 130+ Boyle Sports betting shops in the country.
Step 3: Pick your starting day. Day 1A is Friday 17th October. Day 1B is Saturday 18th October. Register through the Tournaments/Specials area of the Boyle Poker Software. Day 1A and Day1B are seperate options for registration. There is a dutch invasion on Day 1A if this influences your decision.
Step 4 (optional): Wear something that indicates your nationality. For example, if you are Scottish wear a kilt; if you are Oscar wear a Swedish football jersey; if you're from the People's Republic of Cork wear a Cork GAA jersey. We want to stress the international element of this event.
Step 5: Cruise through day 1, putting a bad beat on your best mate in the process, text your other friends (who are also playing) to tell them all about it.
Step 6: Win lots of €€€ playing top class poker.
Step 7: Boast on internet forum.

    Hi all,

Don't forget the added rake bonus on Boyles has well and truly kicked off.

If you are planning to play in the IPO register today. Once you pay your buy-in 20% of every cent you pay in rake will be directly added to the prize-pool. We're going to update you on a weekly basis as to how much is already added.

Also; don't forget about the €20k that Boyles have already put up on top of the estimated main event prize-pool of €162,000.

This tournament is really going to be amazing (I think so anyway) but we really need players to get behind this idea in order to extract the maximum amount of value (for all players) from our lovely, fantastic sponsor :)....So please get on today, get registered and start playing on BoylePoker.com

I read that there are a few poker celebs planning to play in the IPO. Have you thought of putting bounties on the head and perhaps a t-shirt to win. "I played at the Poker Ireland IPO 2008 and knocked out __________"

    Hi Colin,

I think most of the celebs won't have a bounty on their head (Boyles are going to be adding the guts of €40k to the main event prize-pool as it is, so along with all the other expenses they are thinking its better to give players that bounty money in other ways) .....
but the t-shirt is a great idea and I will pass it on to Boyles right now. We will almost certainly go with it I would say.

There will be more than 20 celebs including Steve Davis and Ken Doherty now both confirmed.

    Stephen.

I reckon I'll prob be playing this, only thing is Im going to the Man Yoo v West Brom game on the Saturday :(

Am I right in thinking the Friday Day 1 starts at 4pm and finishes at 3am?

And then Sunday starts at 1pm?

    I reckon I could squeeze in a trip to Manchester in between day 1 + 2 (yes I'm presuming I'll make day 2 :))

Cool...Would love to play with Davis...Played with Ken online and he wasn't much craic in the chatbox :(
If you could get some promotion out of the them it'd be great.

    Cheers for that Bobby.....

Last year's was a bit top heavy but the lads at the final table didn't mind :)

This is a better guide to this year's payout structure (we are possibly going to flatten this a little more so that the winner will get €25k with more money going to all other places outside the final table).....

Reminder; this is not the official payout structure for the BoylePoker.com IPO 2008 - its just a guide at this stage:

Participants Based on €185,000 Prize-pool (conservative estimate as I expect it to be closer to €200k)
Place Finished Paid to Each Place €
    1 28,675
    2 21,275
    3 16,835
    4 13,135
    5 11,100
    6 9,250
    7 7,400
    8 5,550
    9 3,700
    10-12 1,850
    13-15 1,665
    16-18 1,480
    19-27 1,110
    28-36 740
    37-45 574
    46-63 444
    64-81 389
    82-99 315
    100-135 296

    :)

We've had some really good feedback from Boardsies so far for this tournament so I thought I would try it again.

We need to get players registered early and playing on BoylePoker.com in order to get the maximum amount of added money onto the prize-pool... ... Almost all of the overseas players have already registered (as far as I can see) but we need to obviously get every Irish player that intends to play to get on and register.

Any ideas as to how to convince people to tie up €150 for a month and a half before the tournament? Is the offer; "20% of all rake generated - added to the prize-pool" enough of an incentive.

Don't forget there is already €20,000 added by BoylePoker too.

Cheers in advance for the feedback.

    Stephen.

Well while the 20% of all rake from boyles is pretty nice there is no incentive for people who don't play on Boyles. Maybe come up with something for them

For online reg's like yourself what would work as an incentive, bearing in mind rake wise we are pretty much getting as good as we can get for the tournament. Are you talking about what would incentivise you to play on Boyles before/after the IPO, or what would motivate you to contribute to the 20% rake?

I'll run a few ideas by Boyles for sure though.

Well I am just saying as of now there is currently no reason for someone like me who doesn't play on Boyles to register early. I don't play on Boyles as I can get better elsewhere so it's not about incentivising(that a word?) me to play on Boyles cause that is not going to happen unless they offer better deals to me which is out of your control. Another problem is with the extra rake idea is ultimately there is a very good chance you will not see any of it as it requires you to cash in the tournament itself so it's hard to make it feel like your benefiting out of it.

Maybe something like an tournament on Boyles at a certain date with a guaranteed prize pool for everyone who has registered for the IPO. You should also try to take advantage of your weekly tournaments you hold with Poker Ireland, some deal where if you register at the event for the IPO you get say free reg for that weeks tournament. You would likely make the money back in affiliate fees in anyway so may not even take a hit for it

    Hi Rob,

Cheers for the feedback, much appreciated.

First idea is class and we will be suggesting same to the crew.

As for the second idea, we're not an affiliate of Boyles so its not for the interest of our pockets that we want players to play. Its just so the tournament is an overall huge success which involves getting players onto the site. Still a good idea and we are of course promoting the IPO at all the Sunday tournaments.

    Cheers,
    Stephen.

Makes sense but the sort of players Boyles are hoping to attract are not good for nothing rakeback grinders like you, theyre the ones that will be happy with freeroles etc

    Hi all,

320 players in as of now (fully paid up that is), go on, get in!!!

Added money prize-pool should be displayed in a few days. Is anybody else feeling as enthusiastic about this tournament as me??? [not including ditpoker in that question :)]
