    Hey guys

We're all in the same boat it seems so we're just gonna have to ride through it till the results come... whenever that may be!!! I did my IST on Monday and an announcement was made that results would not be out until late April so don't have any hopes that it'll be before then, as great as that would be!

Personally I was not happy with the IST...got 38 answered out of 48 in section A and I'm, guessing 20 out of 30 in section B... Didn't bring a stopwatch so was my own worst enemy!! Nonetheless who knows there still may be hope as people who got every question answered may have rushed it a wee bit too so it's all to play for.

Would be great to know if any of you guys were at my IST...so faces could be put to the names HA.... Seemed to be an awful lot of tension in the lobby before going in :)

same as you donkey didnt wear a stopwatch:mad:
done mine yesterday, didnt get 8 answered in sec.A and 4 un-answered in sec.B....at the start of sec.B i randomnly guessed the 3 last q's but should've guessed 7 in hindsight:D ah well pretty confident i got most of the answered 1's right.... fingers crossed and best of luck to all!

ps:how much info was there to take in in sec.B.... unbelievable while trying to push yourself under a time limit!!!

People: Yet again I have had to delete posts from people asking for and disclosing locations of ISTs.

Please, for your safety, and the safety of the people working in these locations, do not ask or disclose the location of either the IST or the A/C.

My oh my oh my. Just did mine in Glasgow today and what i would have given for another assessment centre like strathclyde's.

You were right Pluginbaby, that was a lot harder. However, it's good to see that i'm not the only one stuck in this boat and the guys i spoke to on leaving found it just as hard so it means we've all a fair enough chance as the next.

Try and put it to the back of your mind now, and if you think you goosed it (like me) :( Then just believe you did, and get on with life until next year, then if you get the letter inviting you back, you'll be doing backflips and wetting yourself with anticipation. (perhaps not at the same time though)

Good luck to you all, i'm sure you don't need it though :P

glad it wasnt just me who thought the amount of data in section b was insane lol, i've done database exams in uni that were less taxing!

was it just me or did they start the sections at really wanky times - thats what threw me off most

I did mine a couple of days ago. This was my second attempt, last year I missed the pass mark by 3 marks.

Basically it's the kind of test that if you had an hour to complete it, there's NO excuse for getting any questions wrong, as the answers are literally right in front of you. Although as has already been stated, it's the time pressure that gets you.

I completed Part A with 4 seconds to spare. I think I did okay, although was rushing towards the end. I'd estimate I got at least 40 correct answers in this.

Part B - NIGHTMARE. I did the practice question at the start, and got it wrong, so this rattled my confidence before I even began the real questions. At the start, I randomly guessed the last 10 answers. I could see out of the corner of my eye the guy next to me was looking at me and bricking it, he must have thought I was a maths genius!! So out of the 20 questions I was left with, I'd say I only got 10 correct answers, and there was a few random guesses.

I'm hoping my random guesses were right. Simple as that.

Last year I got my hopes up and was GUTTED the day the post man came. So this year I'm taking it that I messed up again, but it would be a pleasant surprise if I found out otherwise.

Yep, thank god I'm not the only one! I got two out of the three practice questions right at the start and I had to guess the last 10 questions in the last second also, was ragin! Wanted to get it finished consciously rather than by guessin but hey at least they're all filled in! More chance of gettin somethin right eh! I think I've maybe got about 10 questions right in Part B also and maybe about 40 in Part A... which totally won't be enough.. cuz they did the same paper last year and the pass mark was 55 I think.. oh well *crosses fingers for everyone* what will be will be! Now back to my coursework :'(

Is part A and B timed separately?? I really don't seem to remember them being separate last year, I could've swore it was all just together and it was up to you to manage your own time for each section. Or are you guys just timing it yourself or what? It really was a blur tho last year so I could just be forgetting altogether!

Hope you did well Ruggy! Maybe I should give Strathclyde a go if it really is easier :D

Oh and yes, it really is the worst possible way to start by getting the practice questions wrong, I got some of them wrong last year and it completely messes with your head, proper knock to the ol' confidence that was :(

Aaaahh I really don't think I can cope with waiting much longer to get this over and done with!

Is part A and B timed separately??

Yep.. they hand all your stuff out, you do the paper, then they collect it again and hand out another paper and go through all the instructions again :D lol.. then after that paper, they hand out a wee feedback form that takes like 2 mins to complete; it's voluntary.

    :)

anyone else just nearly think about these pending results nearly 24/7 but strangly excited at passing but I know not to get my hopes up but i just want to know now ! lol

on a good note thou i done mine nearly 3 weeks ago so nearly half way there :)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 159 ✭✭fefe5

I also did mine a couple of days ago. Was glad of some of the bits of advice I had got from here! Was one of the first few into the room so was at the front - less distractions.

I also didnt do the practice question for part B, just used the time to look over the data sheet!

Got both part A and part B finished with about 2minutes to spare in each which is much better than last year. Last year I didnt know what to expect and thus ended up having to guess a load in both parts! (failed by a few marks last year)

Getting both parts finished does not make me feel any more confident tho. Yes it means I attempted every question, but theres so few people that seem to finish it, it now makes me think that I have mis-read questions etc and not done what I was supposed to!

O well, only time well tell :(

Yeah I can't get it off my mind! In all honesty though, I realllllllly doubt that I passed it, which really sucks :( Despite these thoughts though, I still get so excited and get the biggest butterflies in my stomach everytime I think about it and just imagine if only it was a perfect world... lol

Aye I did mine just one week ago today, feels like years!! Hurry uppppp

P.S. jeepers fefe5, 2 minutes to spare  I wish I was you! Lol. Genius or what! :D

I got first section finished on time no probs, 2nd part i guessed maybe two or three at the end. Not to sure what way it went, trying not to think about it too much, if i fail i fail, just got to tryharder next time, if i pass itl be a day on the beer and put the head down for the AC..

Well, see this is what scares me....Kind of thinking I might have missed something!

I did do a good bit of practice stuff, basically anything that I could find that was in any way simular. I know a lot of people say you cant prepare for the IST, but I think you can prepare to a certain extent by quicking your mental maths and also being able to read quicker!

Think I am quite calm about the whole waiting for results thing at present. I'll get really nervous once I hear the early people have started receiving theirs!

24/7 for sure, everything i do im thinking PSNI, imagining the future and what if, really hoping its good news cause next year is ohhh so far away.
Ok think its time to book a holiday to distract me and give me something else to concentrate on

Just a heads up - buddy of mine got his IST results today (he passed), so I would imagine the letters for those of you who took it near the start of march would be getting your results soon.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 70 ✭✭Fatony

I thought that all the ISTs would have been all finished before they send out all the letters or maybe they are all done??

Did it say what the pass mark is for this year? Did it say the actual mark he got or does it just say pass or fail?

Haven't grilled him too thoroughly on it - but I would imagine its the same as last year, just a simple pass or fail.

Wow that has made me a bit nervous I havent even done mine yet but it is very very very soon! Really didn't expect results to be out till everyone was done, but then hopefully it means I won't have to wait long after for mine to come.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 181 ✭✭B182

did he get pass mark ?

he has prob scored high enuf that he was easy over the last years mark off 55

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 365 ✭✭wannabe2010

Wow already?! I thought everyone's would be out at the same time (20th April).. or is that just when the pass mark is published? Ohh that has made me nervous  and I'd just started to forget about it  lol

If I recall from last year results were out a lot earlier than they said they would. I think they just give a date so as people wont be pestering them for their results, I did mine towards end of it last year and results were out within a week. The letter just tells you if you pass/fail, if you want your score you have to e-mail deloitte with your uid and request they send it out in the post.
