No, still no word on his AC date, the letter said something about it being due to follow at a later date.

Bear in mind that the IST is the first step in a very VERY long process. I refer to my earlier point that its best just forgetting about it,as you will just torment yourself during the next 12 months if you constantly think about it.

done mine as early in march as it gets, no sign of anything yet..

You are exactly right, although I could do with taking that advice, as waiting for the call for C15 is killing me!

Ive just had my IST today and they still said results wont be out to end of april/start of may...surely to god if they're starting to come out already there's no chance it'll take that long??

Quite a strange mix in my session this year... alot of women this time, and alot of very young looking people, and alot of rather old looking people, didn't really seem to be a middle ground!

And despite it being the same test as last year it was still fierce! I decided this year not to stress myself out with practice tests and that and just go with the flow...got more answered this time, got all of part A done with about a second to spare! And only guessed 4 or 5 in part B but still, more than I got done last year

Yeah because I'm sure that the people who post on these boards represent everyone who took the IST. You tool, its a very very small cross section of the 9000 people; less than 1%, so don't accuse me of telling "porkies" when all I was doing was relaying information that I felt might be helpful to your lot waiting on your results.

    And its spelt wonder.

Ohh, I hope Im a useful tool, like a multifunctioning one - maybe then i could open soup cans with my ear? :D
I didnt say your name, which means I didnt accuse you of anything.
I've a question for people who did the test last year, and passed. Did you ALL get two seperate letters? One to tell you you'd passed, and then one weeks later tell you your AC date? serious question, Id like to know if its common practice.

    Yes.

The person in question probably scored exceptionally well hence why getting his/her results early.

Cashflow this is obviously directed at me.........(you commented on my spelling).......I never mentioned any names, or what I was "wondering" about.......or did I start name calling (lol) was just "head scratchin" out loud. Never meant to offend.:D

Class, so they send you out a letter mega quick because you scored so ''exceptionally'' well, just to tell you to wait on another letter with an AC date....lol

They have somewhere in the region of 9000 letters to get through. So I'm guessing they send out some pass letters early to lighten the workload. No matter if you get your pass letter a week after the test or 6 weeks after, you still have to wait on another one to get your AC date. But obviously there won't be 9000 of those, approximately only 2000.

Don't think there's any need to make an issue of this, everyone will get a letter eventually.

    Congrats to your mate cashflow.

I thought that all the ISTs would have been all finished before they send out all the letters or maybe they are all done??

yeah me too, surely they have to get everyones results to find an average before they decide on who passes or not?

Yes, as far as I am aware they can't set a pass mark until all IST's are completed. I must stress I obviously don't know specifics here, but I'm guessing any people who have scored full marks or only got a few incorrect answers, going by the pass mark of 55/78 last year, will almost certainly have passed. Hence the talk of people receiving early pass letters, like I said before, probably to get through the list of people waiting on their letters a bit quicker.

This can sometimes backfire as I have a friend who got a pass letter from the IST, a few campaigns ago now, only to get another one saying actually you've failed, they hadn't anticipated the pass mark being higher than they estimated. But that probably hasn't happened since if they learnt from it.

Oh no way.............imagine gettin a pass letter..........the joy.........only to get another one saying.............opps.......sorry, you havent passed. Kick in the stones or what?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 187 ✭✭grad10

I know! Gutting. But like the whole recruitment process, if at first you don't succeed, pick yourself up and try again!

Only a few weeks now until the majority of letters start coming through

It will be nice to know one way or the other. The nature of the tests really leave you in the dark for a few weeks. "Have I done well......have I not?" Aw well..........we will soon know.

I do recall something along those lines happening. Or am I remembering the time people who were told they had failed were sent letters later telling them they had passed because too many people failed to hit the target?

I know people who have had a fail letter but then get another letter a few weeks later telling them that they had actually passed! The whole issue of pass marks just show poor organisation. Surely, with a professional recruitment service, they should know not to send out letters until all results are in and standardised! Maybe that's just the logical thing to do though!

maybe they arent actually sending them out till all results are in and are sending them like they did last year. ie A) youv failed or B) you passed and your AC date is: XX/XX/XX

why send out 9000 and then a further 2000 when in past years its only been 1 letter. Deloitte are tight when it comes to money, hence why it has been the same IST for 3/4 years

So they DID only send out 1 letter last year if you passed, like they always have in the 7 years Ive been doing the test ?

ie. You passed we'd like to invite you to an assessment centre on (date/location) ??

    beca?

well last year it was only 1 letter, i never heard mention of 2 letters being sent out to people who passed before! EVER! so i would says there is not much wind to the report of an IST result this early. also, why would they bother to drip feed the results? that would only encourage people to ring up and ask about their result (ie ME) lol

if they sent 2 they there would be 9000 and then 2000 for the AC dates and times, totalling 11000 letters, and an extra 2000 letters would not be in their budget this year of all years

and, only people iv heard of doing 2 letters like that is the english forces but thats because they have tens of thousands of application forms to mark. guy who sent his application to english force same day as me got a letter to say, due to high numbers, we cant mark yours til summer time, next day i got letter to say you passed and a letter will follow when we know how many have passed and can sort out AC's

Guys.. I have a confession.. I was so convinced I had received 2 letters last year.. just read your recent conversation so decided to go hoke all the old letters out.. to find that actually I did only get one! Said I passed and AC date on same letter. Think I might have got confused because last year I had to change my AC date and therefore got a rescheduling letter later on. Or else I was getting mixed up with the AC pass letter and having to wait for further correspondence after that! Anyway so sorry for all the confusion!

I still don't think we can assume this is the case for everyone, but your right, it may well be. To be honest it doesn't really matter, we could sit here and second guess who, why, how many, and when, get letters, but it's not gonna make a difference to whether we individually pass or fail and when we're gonna get told! So I'm just gonna keep my mouth shut from now on and just sit back and keep waiting! Lol
