Total novice, so don't really understand the intricacies of the game (rugby man meself), but very enjoyable to watch. Wouldn't pretend to have much of an insight but to my untutored eye the Aussies seem to be having difficulty getting to grips with the rules and alot of confusion in their goal area...Their keeper seems bemused and befuddled at times.

Ireland seem to be moving them round well, and in general I'm amazed at how big and fit the Irish lads look compared to the aussies, a real testament to their commitment....

No keeper in the AFL you see.

It's a very big advantage for the Irish lads, always has been.

    Also, the round ball.

The management team went for strength and physicality, imo.

    I don't follow GAA though.

Over and a goal in quick succession there for Ireland.

The keeper's kick out was brutal.

The Aussie's lack of goalkeepers was very noticeable for the goal there.

We can't get to grips with kicking the round ball either.

    Socking amount of misses.

I was actually impressed with with the Irish lads performance tonight.

Finally they have grown some balls.

We're not at the races at all in the tackle, they are going to wipe us in the next game. I dont envy the Irish lads at all, but they are getting caught with the ball too much, and are not tackling at all. How is it that they caused us all our problems when we had the ball playing out of defence, whereas we dropped off them when they played the ball out from their defence.

Because Ireland was attempting to crowd out their own half?

Sorry, I meant Ireland will be killed next week. We = Ireland. I can see the cause for confusion.

Yes, I understand the tactic, but I reckon it backfired. I was watching it on live stream from RTE so I had more off than on time, but it seemed to me that Ireland conceded many of its first half points with poor distribution brought on by short passing in their own half combined with good Aussie pressure play of our defence. It's like watching the Dubls play when they lose their way, terrible kickouts, soft scores.
