I remember playing with a bunch of pub players down in waterford or wexford at some stage, in some IFA place. I cant remember a mate brought me there or something. There were exactly what you said they are not, strange and clueless, some Larry guy was always being way over aggressive, Gerry or someone was giving it socks with the speech and talking a **** hot game had a little shark thing but was every bit as useless I figured.

They were easily the worst players I have ever seen and they play in pubs mostly. Funny though. Game was sick soft too. Easy money.

funny isnt it, i can remeber that nite alrite, easy money...... althought you lost your balls that nite playin cash (and for that fact always tryin to bum a buy-in in the fitz's when i see you there!)

i really dont care what people's view are on this as i play anywhere there is a game which involve any casino or pub (just trying to build a small bankroll to buy into bigger games) but it those annoy me when people like above trash talk everone outside " the pale"

while when i do venture up for a game to dublin for a game alot of these "class acts" have little about them just deep stacks (which daddy sponsored) and duberry shoes....

so btw what the f*** is fold equity ??

Can any self proclaimed pros enlighten ??

 % of raise inrelation to square root of pot divided by 1/3 = decision

Lets switch focus, seeing as we couldn't get a row going with the "Pub Players" topic: Culchie club players are complete fish compared to Dublin players, and are barely a step above pub players. IMO, of course.

I really think you should start a new thread on that one. And while you are at it.
It is clear to me that the standard of poker in Galway is way ahead of the rest of the country.
Its pretty clear cut actually, just look at this year, you had Mark Spellman at the ft of the io and Jude Ainsworth winning the ipc.
Not only that but if you check out the top online donkament players online, I would imagine stats would tell you that at least five out of the top ten are from Galway and r4ad is the only one that springs to mind from dublin, unless ollieboy is a dub, not sure of that.
And of course you hear the likes of Rob Taylor and Nicky Power who say they cannot win in Galway. If they took a hard look at it, they would realise its because the standard of play is much higher.

I disagree. Last year Sylvester Geoghan was the highest Irish finisher in the WSOP, so obviously Mullingar is the current "home of poker".

I'm from Dublin and I'm a closet online millionaire. I kick netser obs ass frequently and halis butt, I can't reveal my online name as I'd be beset with chimps railing me and wondering how to play JT in mid position......
I actually programmed pokerstove...(there are bugs with it atm sorry 'bout that)

Last time I was in Galway I won the contents of a farmers garage.......where do those boyos get the money for machinery like that...
not my worry I guess.....It's like salmon season in Galway all year round..

And Lloyd is the best player in Dublin, so obviously Tallaght is the home of poker in Dublin.

ok I admit it I cannot win in Galway, but I don't think I was ever knocked out of a tournament by anyone from Galway.

Blog up on JP game and not a mention of a pub or galway player in it

But in fairness Nicky, for an international class player like you, geography should never come into play.

Oh and by the way for all the rest of you guys, I am not from Galway.
