Is €10 not a bit much for a door stop?

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,534 ✭✭✭Dman001

You'd pay about a tenner alone for the remote.

Got one in Galway today, ask at the counter.

so the only real advantage to having this drive is if you plan to buy/steal HD dvds.
it pretty much does the same as the standard drive, for ordinary DVD's !
    might have a look anyways

Gamestop Crescent had a New one at 9.99 which was reserved sadly.
They also had a used one at 7.99. I went for that and discovered no remote and no King Kong in the box.
I was going to give it back when I plugged in the unit and pressed open and lo and behold there was a copy of Transformers HD-DVD in there!!!.
Whoever traded it in forgot to take it out of there!!!.

I reserved the one in Gamestop Crescent Limerick but I don't want it now. If anyone does want it just go in and quote the name Jason Ryan.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 510 ✭✭✭TVDX

Ah, I did see the name Jason on it.
    Anyways, I just scored again.
I realised from re-reading the thread that Xtra Vision had them as well.
Rang, 1 left and snatched it up for 9.99.

    Total Haul today :

    2 Xbox 360 HD-DVD drives(1 new, 1 used)
    All leads for both
    1 Xbox remote
    1 copy of Transformers HD-DVD

    Total spend 17.98

Thanks a million to the OP.

well they had one in the back, i had rang and asked the nice american chap in there to hold it for me :p brand spanking new at 9.99, picked it up about 1pm

edit: were they all ment to have king kong in the box? ive no referance to a free disc nor does it seem to be in the box wen i had a look see thru it

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 510 ✭✭✭TVDX

No, I was mistaken about King Kong, that was an earlier version of the bundle.
However, I managed to get a Transformers for picking up a used one.
Might be worth a punt if any used ones are about, people leaving discs in there!.

I feel sorry for the people who bought one for €150 back a few months ago.

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,032 ✭✭✭BArra

goes to show how much they can make these techie things for if they can offload them at 10 euro, and initially charge so much

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,787 ✭✭✭tvnutz

Just had one put aside for me in xtra-vision. do you need any kind of special cables or anything to make it the best quality.

I know HD-DVD is dead but for a tenner you can get a fair amount of cheap movies that have already been made in High Def.

Hmnn I don't think they are making anything. There is obviously alot of drives and with HD-DVD being dead and gone they are off loading them now while there is still some interest. I'd suspect they are making a big loss on them.
