I hear ya Neyite, It does seems that there is a tonne of people there and no one actually doing anything..
I was trying to keep myself positive about my upcoming stuff and I get a call yesterday from the hospital wondering why I was late for my 20 week scan  Now I`m very proud of myself that I held it together and didn`t explode on her...
She had in her hand a file saying I was into the EPU with bleeding, of course it wasn`t updated with the fact I went home and miscarried, scanned 10days later to confirm the miscarriage or the phonecall from me to cancel the damn appointment...
They wouldn`t scan at the weekends unless it`s life threatening
As for my scans I paid €190 in the galway clinic but after found these...http://galwaybabyscans.com/

Me too, arrived this morning :-(

Cycle was exactly 28 days, pretty much textbook. Hoping will get same this month, well without the AF at the end. Was talking to hubby and we reckon if get strong positive on ov test again this month then going to do it morning and night for maybe 2 days after.

I'm over the disappointment but I did get teary this morning but I think I was just overly hormonal, I haven't been trying that long.

Neyite how does the prolactin affect things. It's crap that 12 wk scan done away with. Whenever it happens for me I already decided going for private scan including an anomaly scan etc at 11/12 weeks.

Friday dunno how you kept your cool, I've no patience at all. Hubby gives out to me for it

Hi girls. I was away all last week and had probes posting comments so just had to make do with reading. Sorry you're out mink and iguana. Neyite hope you're doing ok. Sounds like you're getting passed from Billy to jack by Irish Health system.

I'm still waiting for appt for laproscopy to remove endometriosis so I haven't much hope this month :( period prob due early next week. I had day 21 bloods drawn yest so hope they're all ok.

    Anyone still on the 2ww?

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,102 ✭✭✭Digs

Sorry for all that are out this month :(

Still on the 2ww myself, CD28 at the moment although I hadn't held out much hope at all this month as didn't BD at essential times or much at all :( Bit of a bad month all in all.

Cramping a good bit and think I'm coming down with some sort of bug, sicky tummy, runny nose and headache so feeling very sorry for myself and would love some vino!!

Would be happy if AF did arrive this weekend (obviously would prefer to be preg!) but it would show me acu is definitely working it's magic at regulating my cycle...

Neyite great to hear you are feeling so good! 11 weeks, time is flying!

Mink, Iguana and Goodne so sorry ye are out...

I am on CD 18, 4DPO and such tender boobs but know not pg, last day we got to dtd was 2 days prior to ov. just wish I had not got sore boobs cause even wearing bra's are killing me.

Yellow hen, longin and digs really hope at least one of you come up trumps this month, will be great when we get the next big fat positive on here. Also for those waiting on apts, hope they come soon.

By the way, no harm in calling once a week to see if any cancellations and to see if you can get bumped up the list. I've heard of a couple people this worked for. Also make sure your referral letter was actually received and you are ON the list. I was waiting on a cardio apt once only to find out that gp's letter never arrived so had to get it faxed. Also helps to get the name and contact details of person making apts for the consultant/dept in question so youre not going round in circles.

Well I'm feeling better, period is nowhere near as bad as last month and had some retail therapy today, albeit in penneys. LOADS of heavily pregnant women And little babies around!

Lads. . . This is our month! Let's go hellbent on the well timed shagging and consider yourself already preg. I'm going to go off and find out what my due date would be if get preg on this cycle :-)

Mink is right about ringing and making contacts!
Best off asking for lets say receptionists or pa for the head dr. of the dept you are looking to contact... keep it really nice but lay it on a bit thick and keep in contact.
    It DOES work!

Thats shocking . I cannot believe what happened you. I pride myself on being polite with people on the phone having worked on telephone customer service for years but I dont think I would have kept the cool at all with that one. I wonder if it was the same person I was speaking to - it would be someone clerical I assume, but if it was, it sounds like they are well known for their laziness and incompetence - certainly with the Endo secretary I spoke to you could tell there was no love lost for the person who misinformed me (twice!)

Prolactin levels are controlled by the pituatry gland (about the size of a pea) at the base of the brain. The levels fluctuate during your cycle, In extreme cases your periods stop and you produce a little breast milk (as its the 'milk' hormone that increases so that you lactate during pregnancy) , despite the absence of a pregnancy, in this case, the levels are high and have stopped ovulation, causing temporary infertility. (this is where the myth that breastfeeding mothers cant get pregnant - they can but its rare. breastfeeding is up to 90% effective as a contraceptive)

So I had high prolactin in my day 3 and 21 bloods last year and an MRI revealed its caused by a 3mm benign tumor in the pitutuary gland. I was put on meds to lower the prolactin and see if that resolved me not getting pregnant. In most cases it works quickly, and women get pregnant soon after.

The pituatury gland also manages thyriod function, and kind of sends all the various hormones around your body to do their job. Prolactin goes to the ovaries, and if it is high can interfere with the progesterone or estrogen which is not helpful in the conception/implantation stages.

So, I was to come off the meds the minute I got pregnant, which I did, but also be monitored closely by an endocrinologist, the same way someone with a thyroid issue, PCOS or gestational diabetes would. Thats why I was amazed that I wasnt getting so much as a regular OBGYN having a look until 17 weeks.

Commiserations to all those out this cycle and baby dust for next month.

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,029 ✭✭✭yellow hen

CD28 here but i tend to have 33+ days cycle. Boobs have actually been hurting almost all this month so they're not an indicator of anything. I know my chances are very low but I'm still holding out hope!

    Fingers crossed for you Grawns.

    Sorry Digs :(

Good luck Grawns & Yellow Hen! Definitely want a positive out of one of ye :D

Well on CD3 & going to get a thermometer today & try out doing the temping everyday. Downloaded a good app where can easily record everything so going to give it a try so can pinpoint even more accurately. Any recommendations for a thermometer or tips?

  • Registered Users Posts: 168 ✭✭Fri.Day

Mink, Iguana, Goodne and Digs Sorry ye`re out, Here`s to more "syncronized swimming" in 14-16 days
I`m on CD 13, Got a bit of fertile CM y/day as my husband was on his way to work 3 hours away and nearly got in my car to follow -yes I`m totally rational... This TTC is crazy
So tonight`s the start of my marathon, sex this eve, tomorrow eve (tues), Wed (X2) and Thurs (X2)
Started taking a little bit of aspirin (75mg), Vitamin D, C B6, Folic Acid, B12, Calcium, Iron, 20ml Robitussen, My weekly acupuncture thurs afternoon and I`m predicting ovulation for Friday....I`m self-employed so giving myself a late start wed and thurs to relax, Anything else I should do???
Mink, that fertility friend will give you a great run down on temps if like me you want all the info available to obsess over, there a free trial for maybe 6 weeks or so
The thermometer should be a "basal body thermometer" or a "fertility" thermometer to really see the shifts in temp.

Where did you get yours if you don't mind me asking? The thermometer I bought was awful, made my chart look like one of my nieces join the dots pictures!!

How are you finding the acu?

  • Registered Users Posts: 168 ✭✭Fri.Day

got on ebay, also got the OPK and HPT of the same place...
    http://www.ebay.ie/itm/DIGITAL-CENTIGRADE-BASAL-OVULATION-THERMOMETER-CHART-/190584868440?pt=UK_Health_HealthCare_RL&hash=item2c5fbe4e58

Not a fan of the acupuncture to be honest, mixed results I suppose, relaxing one week then very restless the next, had 27/28day cycle, last one was 30days - extra day added to luteal phase, just don`t get it but willing to go this thurs (7/8 sessions) then that`ll be it til I feel like it again...
How about yourself? Anything more tangible in your experience?

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,102 ✭✭✭Digs

Thanks for the link, think I will invest!!

I am finding the acu beneficial simply because before I started having sessions my cycle was anything from 33-46days and my two cycles since I started have both been 29days on the dot. I find it really relaxing though and I don't find myself as anxious since starting it, I have to say though this might be due to the fact that I am almost using my poor acupuncturist as a counsellor, although she maintains that is what she is there for!! I do find a weight of worry lifted off my shoulders each Thursday since starting to see her though so something is working for me...

Good luck with your marathon sex session!! Hopefully this month is a good one for you....am planning similar for us this month, my poor husband won't know what's hit him. I swear he thinks I'm crackers half the time, I mentioned cough syrup the other day and he looked at me like I had ten heads :rolleyes:

Am the same too, with constant peeing and sore boobs (well tender and they hurt going up and down the stairs) Plus I am like a one woman eatathon!! I am hoping it is a good sign but also cannot bear to think that its not iykwim? There were major tears last month and we were barely trying at all then, so am trying to keep myself on an even keel and not get too hyped up about it all either way. Fingers crossed for us both :)
Sorry for all those who have gotten af, next month will be yours I hope! Good luck for all of those ttc :D

Me too, have period like cramps when it's not due for ten days, pain in lower stomach and back and almost like(sorry tmi) like constipation pains..

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,260 ✭✭✭Mink

Hmm lots of interesting cramping going on. Hopefully some positive signs. I think it takes about 7 days after ovulation for an embryo to start implanting And another few days before the hcg goes in the blood stream.

Right I have a question ladies, it's really bugging me. My period only lasted a day and half. It was fresh blood type of stuff, not too heavy and just a little brown spotting today. Anyone else get a period like this. Most of my other periods are at least 3 full days but usually 4.

Hi all, I know theres another "Hope" on this thread so hopefully it doesnt get confusing! I am currently on my 2ww and its going sooooo slow! Been trying for our first bambino for about 6 months. Im not charting or anything like that coz Im afraid of getting too wrapped up in it that it will be even more disappointing that it currently is every month. Not feeling any different at all this month - due at the weekend. Trying to think positive but even a cramp of any sort would be a welcome sign. Enjoying reading all the stories on this - I think you are all great x

    Hi everyone,

I´m a lurker. For the past two months I´ve been checking in to this thread as we´ve been passively trying for about 6 months now, and more actively for the last three months. Last month I had myself convinced that I was having symptoms so I tested on the morning my period was due, got a very disappointing negative, and sure enough a few hours later along it came.

This month was very busy, and we had a lot of guests and late nights/long days around the time I had calculated I would be most fertile. Then two days after the guests left I noticed very unusual CM, so I googled it and it seemed to be the egg white variety, learned that it means that THEN was when I was actually most fertile, and we did the deed two nights in a row.

So the month continued very busily, and unusually for me I wasn´t really aware of when my period was due. On Sunday morning I sat down and had a look through my calender to see that actually, the latest it should have been there was last thursday. Yesterday I still didn´t want to test, from feeling a bit stupid about last months pointless testing, but I did buy and take folic acid.

This morning I woke up and for the next ten minutes the only thought in my brain was "don´t get sick", so taking that as I sign off I went and bought two new tests. I just took one, and got such a faint second line, that maybe I´m imagining it, though looking at it in the light it definitely isn´t just blank like on a normal negative. Hmmm. So I´m taking it that I just got my Small Thin Positive! But will definitely use the second test tomorrow morning with the first urine of the day.

If I really am pregnant, then I´ll be due on the 26th of June 2012, two weeks after my little girl´s 3rd birthday :)

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,029 ✭✭✭yellow hen

oh congrats popel...a positive is a positive. Take the second test tomorrow and see what it's like.

I'm out anyways. AF arrived this morn. On a positive note, i now only have a 29day cycle which is a big improvement from the mammoth 67day cycle i had 7months ago. Meeting endometriosis specialist on Friday so here's hoping she fixes me up :)

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,102 ✭✭✭Digs

Good luck to all the ladies with positive signs on your 2WW fingers crossed! Popel congrats!! Run with that faint line, hoping you get a stronger one tomorrow :-)
Yellowhen, glad there is a positive spin on the witch arriving and good luck with the doc!

Mink I have no advice for you sounds very short though? Have you ever had a cycle like it before? Since TTC I am questioning every inch of my cycle myself..... I thought AF had arrived sunday night as I was lightly spotting, which has continued ever since, just when I wipe (TMI) no proper flow yet!! Am cramping a good bit too, every time I go to the loo I expect her to be there but nothing!! My AF usually starts off with a few hours of spotting but never lasts this long...... Wish it would get on with it so we can start a new month!!! I have a baby to be making :o:o

    Oh don't tempt me Allgirlz!!!

Unfort though I really don't think I am that lucky! Aside from the fact I am almost certain I missed ovulation this month, it's just too much like period pains and my boobs aren't sore anymore....I just think the witch is being a complete wagon is all....

If nothing heavier by tomorrow morning I will test promise :D
