How many runners did the event get

298 entrants, should be no more than 260-270 still in now.

I just gave Maud some dinner vouchers and advice on how to play her remaining 4000 chips. Also reassured her that she played her last hand correctly raising a muppet big on the turn with 2 pair but he stayed for a flush draw. I think I'm in there but she's just not my type.

Does anyone else want to be the glass in the picture?

Ha, well it took the pictures of players on the Pokernews site to inform me that the slightly strange English fella that I doubled up through and subsequently knocked out on Weds night in the Eglinton is Jonathon Kalmer, 5th in last years WSOP main event. There are so many 'famous' pros hanging around these days it is impossible to know who is who!

Could anyone onsite keep an eye out for Peter Gannon, young Galway player? He often builds a big stack during the opening section of a tournament, if he does watch out!

I've checked Blonde and searched google, it's a no go!

Only updates I've found are the ones mentioned in this thread:
    http://uk.pokernews.com/live-reporting/party-poker-ipc/main-event/blog/day1/

. . . but to be honest getting more than one inside 20-30 min period is a bonus. Ideally if anyone is reading this and is there on site with internet access, we urgently seek news on all the local players particularly the boardsies :D

We are posting on average every 12 to 15 minutes. We are also taking and posting up player photos, making a list of the chip-counts for the chip leaders as they develop and busting out players.

Unlike you we don't have the benefit of the speed of a text message from a player actually in the tournament. :)

Lads if you want info on a player I don't know please just tell me what he looks like/is wearing or link me to photo. Telling me he likes to build a stack early isn't likely to help me find him. :)

Derek Murray? I suspect he's just below average looking a bit bemused.

Relax Nicky, you guys are doing a good job, the comment wasn't a stab at you, moreso at the other sites that should be also updating to help fill in the blanks.

I'm in Belfast and my street has been snowed in all day so if I come across as bored you can understand why :D

    Good stuff!

What is the status of Ciaran O'Leary, the WSOP bracelet winner from Carrigaline at the feature table?

Hey Nicky, any chance of updates on some of the Waterford guys when you get a chance pls... Dermot Jacob (Jakey - own Blazin Aces), Chris Frisby and Pat Storan. If ya manage to find one of them they'll point ya in the direction of others :):)... Thanks

He's was quite low last time I saw. I don't think he's been above his starting stack.

Don't think I know the first 2. Pat Storan on 28K.

Well im gone :( knocked out by the worst player at my table , day started really well , worked my stack up to just shy of 15k at the break & was happy with my play as the only decent hand i saw was kings , then after the break came my capitulation , blinds 100/200 , limped utg + 1 with 4 4 , 5 more limpers followed , flop comes 2d 4d 9s , i check all the way to the sb who makes it 1000 - i repop to 2800 & he ships for 6500 - i call , put the guy on 3 5 diamonds & wasnt far off when he turned over 5d6d - of course he rivers a diamond .

Next hand i had AJ on the bb & played it horribly - flop A 9 7 & Derek Murray fires a pot size bet which i call , turn is another 9 & he bets again - i dwell up for a bit again & call -id seen him play drawing hands like 10 8 earlier so i had him on something similar , he shoves the river when a Q lands & though i knew i was beat i couldnt fold at this stage as it was only another 2k - he turns over 9 8 .

That left me with 4k or so which got blinded away until the 150/300 level when i look at queens on the small blind , derek murray had raised to 1200 & he was obliged to call with A 10 when i shipped - he hits a 10 on the flop but no ace & i double up .

Literally the next hand & i look down at 10 10 , once again derek raised to 900 pre flop , i flat call on the button & a poor player in the big blind calls also . FLop comes 8d 5d 2c , derek leads for 2k , i was sure i was ahead of him & pushed for my last 5.5k , big blind starts fiddling with his chips & im sure he has jacks when he calls , however he turns over the monster that is the Kd 5d & spikes a king on the river , to say i was disgusted & devastated was an understatement as i felt i was playing well .

Derek Murray was on about 10k or so when i got eliminated , he was playing well but got sucked out on twice , his Kings were no match for the above player who knocked me out who tabled A 2 for a rivered straight .
