They call themselves Muslims but completely ignore the Qu'aran.
Blowing up innocent people is hardly stipulated in Islam and doing so for the reward of 70 virgins and a palace sounds a lot more like being materialistic rather than worshipping Allah as they should.

    +1 definitely.

True, but they do piss everyone off with their constant crap about how the Catholic church is evil, how Christmas used to be a pagan festival (while in the same breath telling you not to mention the 800 years of British occupation), how organised religion is farcical, and everyone should live how they (the athiests) live, how religion is the cause of all the evil in the world, all the while ignoring the wars for land and material goods etc...

Please note, I am perfectly ok with atheism/atheists.

It's c*nts who just happen to be atheists that I have a problem with in the same way I have problems with c*nts who are also video game fans or footballers.

Just don't shove it down our throats, eh?

What evidence would that be? The fact that there is no evidence to support God existing?
There is no evidence whatsoever to support God existing. And none at proving he doesn;t exist.

I agree. But you deliberately quoted me out of context despite my previous explanation.

Could it possibly be that I'm accusing you of arrogance because of your personality and not your belief system? Oh no. I'm a theist and therefore blindly follow faith. Despite me stating that I think there is no evidence for or against God's existance (questioning the blind faith of other theists) I am saying it's more noble to have faith.
Hardly. I'm saying maybe show a bit of consideration towards other peoples beliefs.

I didn't say 'god' in the general sense, a vague indefinable word. I said a particular type of a god, the type believed in by many religious people, the type (and this is the exact example I used) who listens to your prayers and affects events based thereon. There is obvious evidence that such a god does not exist, sorry but it aint a 50-50 thing.

The omniscient, omnipoent, benevolent god of popular religion is not even possible. If that sounds arrogant I don't care, I'm saying it like it is.

I'm open to the slim possibility of some sort of god, just not the one that's the star of most modern religions. I make no apologies for questioning the rationality of anyone who believes in things that are highly fanciful at best and just plain wrong in some cases. Are they stupid? Yes, in a way.

    Why are they stupid?
Is it because you believe them to be stupid?
If so, then it's just your opinion. If not, then please provide solid evidence pointing to their stupidity.

Why? Because you say it is so? Stating apparent truths without facts is a tool of the fundamentalists.

Hmm, funny. I was under the impression most organised religion went back years. And not every organised religion deity is the same as the Judeo-Christian God. Hinduism has both 'good' and 'bad' gods.

    .
Why not? It's one thing to say he doesn't exist as theres no proof. Another to say it's impossible.

I said stupid in a way. Not necessarily in every way, a person with religious beliefs could be academically inteligent for example, maybe highly so, and plenty are. But I'd have thought it obvious that someone believing in absurdities, and things that are blatantly wrong, is acting stupidly. What more evidence do you want?

In fact I consider it worse where the person is actually an otherwise very smart person, as they're not applying their intelligence to that part of their life/mindset. It's easier to dismiss fundie loonies as just plain stupid fullstop, as no doubt a good number of them are. I have a harder job understading why someone of high intelligence should choose to delude themselves. It's a copout. Just my 2c.

Anyway this is probably best suited to the religious fora. (fora? forums?)

I said an omnipotent, omniscient, benevolent god is impossible. Logically impossibe in the world we live in. I'm not going to explain it to you. Think about it, look it up even, if you can be bothered.

Men over 40 who go on "holidays" to Thailand are all perverts.

    Paedophilia is A-ok.

Touching kids and acting on paedophilia is dead wrong.

But I find nothing wrong with people who find kids attractive.

Strange yes, but wrong, no. It only becomes wrong once they act on their paedophilic desires.

Haha, funny because it's probably true. You can tell the type a mile off. The type that would take a 200 mile detour on the motorway to avoid anything scenic all of a sudden are going to see the beautiful country.

Ooh yes, I knew I had a controversial opinion. Agreed. If a person simply finds children desirable, then they don't have a choice in the matter. But yes, to act on it is indefensible.

Although I have pictures of myself naked as a child in the family photo album.
I should be allowed sell them to paedos.
Not that I would of course.

    More controversial opinions:
I think the arguments used against porn are lame
    DItto for prostitution
Feminism is a great thing but fierce, lesbian, man-hating, dungarees wearing "wimmin" do their cause more harm than good.

And by "acting on" their paedophilic desires I don't just mean having sex with children, but downloading child porn also.

Oh, so they are only slightly stupid or just acting stupidly.
Can you provide some concrete evidence for this?

I find it hard to believe that any slightly educated person cannot accept the beliefs of others, however different they may be.

There is nothing certain in this world. You would be wse to remember that.

I too don't think pedophilia is what you might call evil, however I would put it in the same category as racism in that acting on it is harmful and I would hold it against someone!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 37,214 ✭✭✭✭Dudess

Except racism isn't innate like a sexual desire for children, racism is something you learn.

She's referring to finding children sexually desirable and not being able to help it.
She isn't, as she made clear, referring to adults having sex with children or downloading child porn.

Vegetarians should be tortured to death and their bodies fed to the starving people of the world. I support Maddox's stand on vegetarianism: "For every animal you don't eat, I'm going to eat three."
