Do you bother with Breakfast?

It just dawned on my that i'm the only one in this house who ever eats breakfast. And come to think of it, quite a few of my friends don't eat breakfast either. They usually wait until 11 or so in the morning and then just grab something to nibble on.

Do you bother with breakfast and if so, what would you normally have?

Typical breakfast for me would be a bowl of Special K Sustain and a cupán tae.

If I manage to drag myself out of it on time, I'll usually have a cup of tea with toast or cereal.

Mostly just manage to get myself out of it on time to dash to the bus though, so usually wait until my first break.

The most I'll ever manage in the house is a glass of oj... But if I'm not running late I'll sometimes stop at the Esso and get a roll or something.. Failing that I'll get something in Spar beside my job.. I never go beyond 10am without eathing something though...

Cereal, juice and yoghurt for me... when I get up in time. Regretting my late start this morning now, sitting in a lecture and I'm absolutely starving!

I'm usually up by 10:30-11:30am. Sometimes I have food around 1pm and start work at 2-3pm. I will have something eat again between 9pm and midnight.

yep, i make a point of having breakfast now, no matter what, i used to skip it and ended up eating junk food on the way to work and put on a lot of weight as a result, so i'm on the special k now and it's made a big difference

Last Friday I didn't eat till 7pm, having been up since 8am :(

More often than not I'll simply forget that eating is quite important. 4 days out of 5 I'll not eat till 1pm or there abouts.

Im rarely hungry first thing in the morning. I sometimes force down some toast, but usually dont bother. I get a cup of tea and Mars in college, or else just hang on til 12ish and get a roll/lunch.

    I never have breakfast

I tend not to eat breakfast, i've been like this for years now. Main reason is that i'd rather have those few extra minutes in bed than use them preparing breakfast! ;)

normally i'll have a cup of coffee and some cereal. sometimes if i have the time i'll thow in a couple of slices of toast and a glass of OJ.if i dont have time before i leave i normally stop in Spar or Centra and get a few jambons to keep me going til lunch

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,564 ✭✭✭✭whiskeyman

The most important meal of the day!!
Tea, toast and OJ before I leave for work, then a big (I mean big) bowl of museli when I get in around a half hour later.
If I didn't have brekkie, I'd be in a slump by around 10am and as good as asleep.

I'm just not hungry in the morning and I'd always rather have the extra time in bed. I do eat a bowl of cereal in work at about 9.30 though /me goes off to get cereal

I'm too hungry in the mornings not to have breakfast so usually it's a chocolate croissant and coffee/smoothie

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,598 ✭✭✭Saint_Mel

I'm not much of a breakfast person during the week. Usually up at 7am
so its hard to stomach anything at that hour. Usually just have some OJ
and then a cereal bar or something at 9am and then some fruit at 10am.

Weekends are a different story altogether. Even though Im up around 8am
most Saturdays, I could, and often do, murder a fry up :D

Got to have coffee and cereal - only takes 2 mins if in a rush.

Leaving the house with an empty stomach sounds miserable now - though I used to do it all the time!

I went through a phase of not eating until lunch at 1. I've started just having the bowl f cereal in the morning now and it makes a big difference. I've got way more energy and feel more awake in the mornings.

I didn't bother with breakfast at all up until I was told my one of my football coaches that I had to lose some weight as ironic as that sounds. It is true what they say though, breakfast is the most important meal of the day and I have a bowl of Special K or Weetabix every day now. I lost 2 and a half stone since the 1st of February and am feeling great!

Breakfast.... Irun out of the house (late as usual), stop at a garage for a coffee and chocolate. Hardly ideal :(

I usually have porridge, oj and two cups of coffee first thing and then something else when I get to work, this morning potted herring on toast yum! Then a tracker bar or some such with tea at 11ish, all interspersed with fruit snacks until lunch.
    Wait a minute:
    First breakfast!
    Second breakfast!!
    Elevenses!!!
    Snacks!!!!
    I'm not a Moomin, I'm a frekin Hobbit:eek:

I've been forcing Flahavan's Quick Oats porridge into me for the last month. Don't really be hungry then till 11ish, I could make it to lunch but I have a bag of popcorn to tide me over.

    Yup, I'd believe that.
If you don't brekkie, your depriving your body of it's most important meal / energy source for the day ahead.
Anything you put in after that, your body will try to conserve as fat as 'backup'.
If you eat well and regularly, you can actually lose weight!

Porridge all the way, my man!! And tea of course. Couldn't function without tea in the morning.

I can't understand people who don't eat breakfast, I'm always starrrrving when I get up, no matter what time it is.

    sounds sorta nice...

I've been meaning to get some suggestions actually. I think part of the reason why I dont eat breakfast is because I dont know of any interesting meals to have. It's all toast, cereal, weetabix, scrambled eggs......

I have no trouble eating breakfast on the weekend, cos there's usually left over pizza or fry :D

Breakfast is the most important meal of the day. Your body has not been fed for approx 8 hours, so even if your not hungry its crying out for food, especially if your training, getting any sort of exercise or yes even trying to loose weight.

    Moi
    Flavans oat flakes with milk
100g cottage cheese (high in protein low in fat)
    Glass of Water

    or

Flavans porridge with milk and honey
    two scrambled eggs
    water

Three - four proper meals a day cuts out the temptation for eating rubbish. Its been said before but here goes again

    You are what you eat.

see I just couldn't do all that, cause I would be dying for a pee well before I got into work with 2 pintts of water.

For me as I am in a rush first thing in the morning it is a protein shake with a couple of pieces of fruit, then when I get into work it is scrambled eggs with 3 full eggs (probably some eggs whites aswell) with some milk

I have never understood people who don't have breakfast in the morning. It's one thing going into work and eating something directly or eating something along the way but not eating till 11 or lunch time is utterly incomprehensible.

Personally I have cereal/porridge, two slices of toast (usually brown) and a mug a tae.

Cannot function without breakfast, I would tend to eat a lot more over the day and feel tired/lacking energy/hungry. And I'm not a morning person, in fact I hate getting up early put I've been eating a similar brekkie since I was about 8 years old I'd say. When I used to go to secondary school I'd always throw a boiled egg ontop of that because I'd have to go an extra hour and a half/2 hours without food.

Rarely....sometimes I'll grab an apple on my way out the door but usually I wait until my first break.

Usually up at 7:30 and have breakfast in work at 9...

During the week, usually have a snack about 11 to keep me going to lunch at 2.
Weekends mightn't bother eating until 4 or 5.

It depends if I'm running late or not. If I'm not I'll have a bowl of cereal and a glass of OJ, if I'm late or have little time then I'll grab a cup of coffee and a danish on the way or just get a cup of coffee and a kitkat or something like that in work. :)

Used to grab a quick bowl of special K before running out the door, but being mostly working at home since August and now work from 8-9 then have a leisurely bacon sarnie or scrambled eggs on toast with the young un and gallons of Lidl orange juice. Much moer civilized. I understand that most people forsake breakfast to commute.

i cant function if i dont have brekky....even if im dyin il force something down on the way to work.
if i didnt id be a zombie for the day.

I always feel ill first thing in the morning... so if I tried to put anything in my stomach I'd only end up being sick.

As such I never eat breakfast.

If at about 1pm I'm hungry and the food in the canteen isn't too horrific looking I might have lunch... but it usually is pretty horrible stuff and I end up eating about half of it at most...

But I do have an OCD where I believe that if I ever finish a meal completely that goblins will come and eat my penis... and not in a good way either.

It's a rare thing for me to eat breakfast. I think it stems from my student days where I was never up until luch so had missed it anyway.

I have porridge with honey or toast with peanut butter, or if I'm in a huge hurry, a banana and yogurt.

when working i have one every day as theres a lovely little cafe around the corner where i work that do a fry for six euro if your taking it away. basically ya get a sausage, rasher ,egg, white puding and a slice of toast. grand for a good start to the day. plus i get to chat up the gorgeous little eastern european waitress that works there. how the hell does god make women that good looking that petite :). its got to the stage now where i dont even have to order anymore. they just see me in the que and put the order in so by the time ive paid its practically waiting for me.

besides that i dont bother. mainly because i wont drag my arse out of bed before 12.

I have lemon water on waking.
Then before I leave the house I have porridge with soyamilk and milled flax and dried berries, and a yoghurt.
    I couldn't function without breakfast.

My breakfast for the past year has consisted of Tracker bars.

Does anybody know if tracker bars are actually good for you?
