Am I right in thinking that as a 1969 car, it need only comply with whatever regulations were effective in 1969?
I seem to recall something along those lines for vintage/veteran stuff.

Thats correct, the same goes for emmissions ,seatbelts etc,if they were not fitted back in the day then the're not required now.

Where was that S5 Steve? Southern Cross Rd.??

Saw the same car driving towards me down the Meath Road on Friday evening. The LED Daytime Running Lights caught my attention.

I was a bit...."Meh"..... upon seeing the publicity pictures. Once I saw it stationary at Grange Motors I was, "Actually thats quite nice in the flash". After seeing it in motion on Friday....."Phwoar!!!" Its stunning irl. Massive road presence and looks much lower and wider and sleeker in motion. Much much nicer than the 3 series coupe.

I was on my way back to Bray, it was on the N11. Lovely wheels on it too...

And before anyone asks... i wasn't driving the car when I took the pic, I was a passenger

Whereabouts was it? I'd say that the R8 and Gallardo defenitely have a few things in common ;)

Spotted it on the Dublin Road in Limerick, about half a mile from Frank Hogan's VAG dealership.

Is that parked?? Also, I thought under The RSA, they had to have reflective visors on the back?

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,163 ✭✭✭MarkN

Nope it was in traffic. My girlfriend said he was STARING at me in the mirror taking the pic. I didn't notice, I was too busy trying to focus my phone :D

No uniform on the copper either.

This yoke passed me today on M50 at Leopardstown, thought I was in Capetown. I couldn't get a photo as the looney was flying.

Legally, the rear red and orange strips and the side yellow and green strips are only required if the vehicle has a DGVW of more that 3,500kgs.

Probably a mechanic/technician/fitter driving it for repair/refit etc.

It's very real and one from a fine collection of other mint classics. I know the owner (owners son, rather). The garage is nothing short of gob smacking!

Parked in a driveway in Sandymount.
If you're lucky he sometimes leaves it out on the road so you can get a proper look.
