Assuming 1,000 players, what is the payout strucure looking like for the tournament, or has it been decided upon yet?

Hey Ste I wasn't trying to get at you was an honest question. Anyway I'm looking forward to playing this with so much dead money in it. I too would like to know how many are reg'd. You can count me in that even if I haven't done so yet.

I just registered. 181 so far. I had my doubts about this filling, but I really think it will now.

No worries Reggie.....When I posted that this morning I didn't realise you haven't read previous threads......We got a really hard time when we first announced that this would be online reg only from a couple of posters here in the tournaments forum......

Believe me if we could do this any other way we would, we simply can't accept cash on the day.

    See you on Oct 6th.

Ste, with all due respect - your flippant responses to what I feel is a valid series of points doesn't look very good.

I'm just annoyed with you because you only regged the other day when I've been asking you to do so for months.....

Lloydy chill out man, you're a mate so thought I could have a joke or two on the forum here with you.

You points are very very valid and nobody is more aware of them than Derek and I. This tournament is going to have a real party atmosphere so hopefully we are the only people in the room under any pressure.

When I say it will be a relaxed atmosphere we will still be running the tournament to the highest possible standard.....But remember that it is the highest possible standard for a €25 reg fee, I hope you appreciate that you would normally pay at least a €100 reg fee for this same service.

Stephen i have to get you a bottle of whatever it is you like. Your patience and positive PR attitude is scary good. in my line of work i can be as rude as a taxi driver and it doesnt make any difference, in fact its expected.

dom and derek i passed on your messages to Paddy who is getting out of hospital tomorrow. the people who called to see him (some bearing massive bowls of fruit ;) ) and texted him, helped him a lot.

if he's the oldest player on the day would you like to mention it and we'll all start a round of applause?

i was asked to be Godfather to my nephew today so i believe you have to do everything i say, i think that's how it goes.

(btw, hope you are all well, even you students, and not taking this card playing lark too seriously)

    have a good weekend, des.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,317 ✭✭✭The Clamper

    doc

send a pm of where he is and i can send a card

most certainly, IF and only IF he is the elder statesman on the day, we will ecrtainly have a respectful round of applause at the start and probably when he wins it too, the rascal has gonads of pure titanium and the 90 year old rule doesnt apply with that man

    the yanks love that rule
assuming a man is 60 then 60 from 90 is 30 so there is a 70% chance he will not bluff
likewise if he is 90, he probably wont bluff at all

these guys were never more wrong, when it comes to Paddy

    what a guy

please park legally, i need a rest

    now wouldnt that be something

Lol, Americans make everything so complicated. If they just added 10 to his age they'd had the same answer.

Payout structure will be modelled off the EPT.

Although they have never had a 1,000 runner field it will go something like this.

    Top 100/110 getting paid.
23/24% of prize-pool to winner (approx €30k with 1,000 players).

If you make the money we will try to make sure there is a fair profit like €190/€200 for scraping into the money.

    Hope this helps.

Wish Paddy all the best from me too Des, tell him I look forward to seeing him at the Final Table at the IPO.

I Didnt Think You Were Going To Play In It Aswell As Running It,
Now I Find That You Expect To Reach The Final Table With Paddy Hicks

This is what reggie is most worried about, he is all about scaping into the money.

    Guys!

When you mail me about your 1.54 top ups... please please state name, nick and your Mermaid account pinnumber.

The idea of this was to handle them all in once after registration closed but if there is a desperate need for the top up then let me know that in the mail and i try to sort it before registration closes.

    Mail me, not Stephen. ac@mermaidpoker.info

    Anna

191 players are registered so far.

16 days to go 'til registration closes. Anyone thinking of turning up to the RDS on 6th Oct with cash in hand will not play in the main event.

I am going to stop taking cash registrations on Sept 21st so anyone interested in using this deposit method should contact me now.

Derek and I will not be going out of our way to help anyone that leaves this to the last minute to register and finds that they have problems.

When registered (before Oct 1st) you can withdraw at any time up to 12 noon on Oct 6th - Stephen 087 24 24 626.

This is probably one of the first tourneys (bar EPT, IO etc) that you cannot reg on the day in Ireland. I am not criticising, and I understand the rationale for wanting pople to preregister, but I was not aware of any legal situation surrounding this to prevent people registering on the day.

    Hi Dom,

I'm glad you're comparing us to the EPT and IO because a lot of posters didn't take that into account when we got all that negative reaction in the early days of threads here on Boards......

I'm not going to go into all of the details of the legal advice we took as it might upset a few people but basically any poker tournament with more than €10,000 cash on the premises must have a licence to operate under the gaming and lotteries act (1953 I think).

Licences are not being issued inside of Dublin and have not been issued for the last 18 months or so. Outside of Dublin you can apply and go through the usual channels at the mo (afaik).

Anyway hope this clears things up and I'm by no means a legal expert and can only go by the legal advice we have have forked out for.

Cheers for the reply. I was mostly basing it on events in the past such as PE's 500 games and their IPC, and team event and so on, but if the situation has changed in the last while it is not something I would have been aware of, hence my ignorance.

Also, the EPT/IO thing. Apart from the whole tv and media aspect of it, this will be at every part as big a logistical challenge as those events, but with far fewer resources at your disposal, so pre-emptive hats off to you and the rest of your team on this one. I'll mention it in my victory speech :)

The major change was an event getting shut down by the guards.

    lol, Cheers Dom....

Obviously there is no way we could make this tournament happen without the help of the Jackpot/Merrion, JPPoker, Vegasnights, CHL's (Luke Ivory is of course offering his magnificent TD-ing skills also), Big Slick, Fitzpatrick's Limerick, Adelaide Sligo, The Pirat in Sligo, 4 of a Kind Sligo, and load of others that have helped us source dealers, given loans of tables (or will be giving loans of tables) and really helped us promote the tournament.

Should also mention the Sporting Emporium in that list, sorry to anyone that I've forgotten about.

Hopefully we get more than the 198 that are currently registered at this moment in time :)
