Prob a stupid question and probably been covered before.. but when we turn up on the day are we registered under our own names or Mermaid screen names?

  • Moderators, Recreation & Hobbies Moderators Posts: 10,445 Mod ✭✭✭✭Mr Magnolia

No, the seating chart will be in your real name, it'd be crazy otherwise.

  • Moderators, Recreation & Hobbies Moderators Posts: 10,445 Mod ✭✭✭✭Mr Magnolia

I thought it said on the page where I registered seats would be tagged by your mermaid nick....? meh

Would rather my name used anyway, cheers 5star.

I have no part in it, but I can't imagine it being used that way. The only sensible seating chart would be using real names. Imagine being a non internet user who got it set up just for this and entered a random name that you couldn't remember? I am sure there will be some of them.

but would that no involve going through everyone's account to get their name - using their nickname would be easier - if 10 ppl have the same name would it not - for example tom murphy - could be 10 of them - and then it will waste time figuring out which one is which..

OT - why do you have to have a username and then a nickname when registering(or did most ppl use the same) - is that not just pointless...

I remember Anna saying on one of the 25 threads that you'd need ID with your name and address and they can work out your s/n from that.

yea but lets look at this seriously - 1000 + ppl are not going to turn up on time and therefore if you want this to start on time - the nickname would be the best thing to use.. If as Dom said some guy got his mate to set it up and doesn't know his name - he probably doesn't read boards either and could turn up with NO i.d and then wat???

Apparently the seating is being done by musical chairs. I read it on the PokerIreland website.

It is very possible. The way I would do it is to put the T1 S1 in column A, the 1000 names on a sheet in column B, and in column C I would enter the formula =rand()

This would generate a random 6 digit number between 0 and 1. Copy this down to the end of your player list, and then sort column B and C only and order by column C (just highlight those two columns and sort the selection. This will put the players in a totally random order.

    That make sense?

Worked like a charm, once I got my head around it......Seat draw will be posted if at all possible once the late reg closes tomo at 3pm.

Come to think of it, it will be posted at the very earliest by tomorrow night (late).....

    Notice for team players;

When I posts the seat draw.

Let me know if you are on the same table as a team member please (either here or tomo morning.....If you are on the same table as a team member and you do not notify floor staff your team will be deducted points.

'I did not know that person was a team-mate' is not an excuse.

    Cheers,
    Stephen.

Did you just post up the seat draws and then deleted it again??

Yeah, my head is all over the place.....I have them randomised but when I add the late reg players the seat assignments will change again.

Best to wait it out til tomo night....I'm 99% sure I will be able to post it here though.

There are also a couple of non-runners now from the 802 so I have to alter that.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,483 ✭✭✭Lazare

Stephen, there are only six players at my table, is this correct? (83)

Edit, I've just noticed you deleted it. Just thought I'd bring it to your att anyway. Please leave if possible, short handed is much more fun. :)

What's the story with tipping the dealers after getting knocked out in the money(however unlikely that may be in my case). Is it done in tourneys like this, or is it a cash game only custom?

Will have a good range of stuff and some specials.

I sourced proper casino felt in China and its currently on high seas with estimated arrival Nov. 10th. Colours Green, Blue & Red and less than €10 per metre length.
