Yes they are the same thing only diff harddrive.

What firmware you using, If you do a search on the thread it tells you how to do it, unless your using 1.1.1

What firmware do people with edge working have? I'm on 1.0.2 and cannot get edge to work.

No its not people can still upgrade to 1.1.1.

And so people dont come on here saying I updated to 1.1.2 and i cant get it working

DO NOT UPDATE YOUR IPHONE TO 1.1.2 UNTIL IT HAS BEEN CONFIRMED TO WORK!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have had the edge settings working on 1.0.2 but i requested Meteor to disable it on my account asked them days ago to reactive it but still have not done it! So cant comment on 1.1.1

Care to explain how? Your phone is updated using iTunes. If someone downloads a new version of iTunes tomorrow, it will contain firmware 1.1.2, not firmware 1.1.1, and will not give an option to update to 1.1.1. So tonight is indeed the last opportunity to upgrade to 1.1.1, unless you're planning to keep your current install of iTunes, and never upgrade it.

Put your Iphone in recovery mode and if you want to install older firmware just hold down SHIFT key (Windows) or Option/ALT-key (Mac) when clicking the Restore button and you can pick whatever firmware you like.

Screw me, you learn something new every day! Thanks Auvers! I honestly hope they don't disable that with a newer version of iTunes though. For the record, I'm up to 1.1.1 using the very clear instructions on unlockthatiphone.com

Everythings working fine for me on 1.02 so Im not bothered switching to 1.1 as the new features dont do anything for me.

Also - anyone using the o2 edge network - whats the price of data? im on a pay as you go and prefer using free wifi when i get the chance - my iphone seems to always try to find an edge connection before a wifi which is a bit crap which is why Ive not activated edge - i like my net access free.

If it's not going to be free I would prefer to use the edge network sparingly - if edge is activated what kinda credit am i gonna eat up and is there anyway to get the iphone to check for wifi before automatically switching to edge?

ive had my iphone a few weeks now and I love it to bits!

1.1.1 is handy for the iTunes store.

I got one in NYC a few days ago, and unlocked it. I loved it but there's a few massive ommissions.

1. Lack of ability of forward SMS messages. I actually need this for work.

2. Lack of ability to send to many. Again, I need this for work.

3. No option for contacts on the main screen (even though the iPod Touch has this). I know of the favourites shortcut, but it's not the same.

4. No video option on the camera. Just seems silly since it's purely a software thing.

5. Lack of customisation. I don't want Stocks, or Google Maps.

There were one or two other niggly things, all of which will no doubt be fixed in later firmware updates. Nothing I've listed is anything other than software, which is a good thing. I find the actual hardware to be excellent. I'm currently using it mainly as an MP3 player, as I'm still in NY and I'm not using the phone as I would normally, and I'm getting 2 days out of the battery. Overall, very happy with it, and I can't wait to see how the actual EDGE part works out once I'm home. Wi-Fi is all well and good, and it's much better here than in Ireland, but it's not everywhere.

If you've installed Installer.app for third party applications, grab something called "Services" from the "System" utilities category I think. This gives you an applet right on the main screen to disable Edge, WiFi, Bluetooth and SSH. I don't really want to use Edge, as I have access to WiFi almost everywhere I am. The phone still tries to use Edge sometimes, even with it disabled, but that's quite rare.

For me, the whole point of getting to 1.1.1 was to get the TV out feature which simply does not exist in 1.0.2. You also get the iTunes WiFi store, which I don't care about too much... Other than that, the only feature I do care about is the "." shortcut. On 1.0.2, if you are typing a text or email, you need to switch to the symbols set to get the period, but with 1.1.1, if you double tap space quickly, it adds a period followed by a space when you're on the alphabetical characters keyboard.

The reason I went to 1.1.1, was for the louder speakerphone mainly, but I also got the added bonus when I followed the unlockthatiphone method of having install.app included. As a result, I now have a torch, Nintento NES emulator and games, Tetris, a Voice Recorder, a PDF viewer, and the potential for much more. It's like a whole new phone now.

Guys I need help ... I was trying for hours to unlock my 8gb iPhone last night. I followed the instructions from http://iphone.unlock.no, phone displayed it was successfully unlocked, but it's not.

When I power it on it goes to the screen with all the icon and also displays "Incorrect SIM". anySIM is one of the icons. I think I need to start from scratch?

Version: 1.1.1 (3A109a)
Modem Firmware: 03.14.08_G

What should I do here?

Anysim only works with Virgin phones i assuming you need to virginise.Look at unlockthatiphones method

I have tried the installing the international option in the general menu and setting it to Ireland but caller ID is still not working but it does display the number correctly in the contacts list.

can anyone please tell me how to install the International Caller ID fix or point me to a tutorial on how to do it?
