The Cosworth looks to be in a bad way indeed.

I doubt anyone would leave it laying up if it drove okay !

Figure minimum a head gasket change and block inspection. It looks like it was attacked and then just left.

    Is it Irish reg'd ?

my friend is restoring on at the minute,il see if he might be interested in it for spares although i think he has mostly what he needs, bought a car with spare interior and some panels etc

  • Registered Users Posts: 23,694 ✭✭✭✭L-M

Don't know, was talking to some farmer lad, he didn't know too much about it only it was there awhile and was going soon. I tried the reg but i can't see it proparly. The closest guess i got was Unknown Sierra Diesel Uknown etc.

Looks like it's stolen adandoned or was dumped there by the former owner. Can't see anybody dumping a cossie with a working/salvagable engine

Exactly what i thought, but the whole lot is there. The interior is perfect. There's rat **** on the engine and i'd say the right side has been a part of the structure of a wall for a long time...

    DSC01907.jpg

    DSC01909.jpg

I have a pic of the back of it but it shows the reg, should i rid of it first?

where abouts did you find this ?

the engine alone is worth a few quid....

  • Registered Users Posts: 23,694 ✭✭✭✭L-M

OK i don't think that cossie is for sale. The fella says he is using it for an escort he has planned. He says the engine is worth 3k alone. I'd say it's worth that if it wasn't sitting there since 2001(last tax).

I spotted yesterday in the driveway of a house on the R194 road (the road between Granard and Finea) a few neglected classics. One was (I think) a Fiat 131, with original Irish plates (JIX 964 I think it was, only got a quick glance at it as I was driving). It looks it was there for quite some time, as it's covered with moss and gone a bit brown with rust. The other was a Mercedes W124 with SI plates, again it seen better days aswell. There was also a Micra K10 and an old van, looked to be a Commer but I'm not too sure. No pictures unfortunately.

Sorry, no pic but I stopped in Mountrath, Co. Loais driving home from Dublin and saw an Austin Metro on old CI plates down some alley. Shockingly enough it looked like it was in one piece - can't remember the last time I saw a pre-Rover one, or come to think of it any BL/Rover car less than about 15 years old!

Also, some very mossy W123 estate further west down the N7 on the side of the road blocked by several other cars (might be here already).

EDIT: The W123 is here already (post 151) - it's in Toomevara.
