How bad is the Saab 96 on the first page and is it still there? Would it be a suitable restoration project for a newbie?

I passed this place today which had a row of cars at the side of the house in a field which included the saab and the mayflower. there was a purple lotus sunbeam in the driveway. I assume its the same place.

Is that a Ford F150 to the right of it?

I thinks its too small to be a F150, possibly a Ranger or Maverick??

these have been parked up under the trees outside Abbeyleix for a couple of months now. They seem to be all Renaults but I'm not up on French cars so I can't be sure. Some may be Fiats??

RE:Renaults and fiats...you are correct in guessing what the are, there was another thread a few weeks back about these, they are all for sale, but the owner says they will be crushed if not sold.

Strictly I'm pretty sure this isn't abandoned, but can anyone pinpoint the location?

^ Jesus, I remember seeing that car at the Terenure show a few years ago:

Nice shot Max, I'm afraid it's suffered a little since then. Aside from the pools underneath, she's got some quite nasty gashes in the padded vinyl top on the RH side. Possibly unwelcome attention by passers-by.

Surly if the reg. plates are removed the council will take it away. Maybe it could be sold on from there if the owner doesn't claim it?

Yes, but you're not fully sure weather if it is abandoned or not. I'm saying if it is, then the plates could be removed.

Nevertheless, such a shame seeing such a nice car like that go downhill.

    The Beacon Hotel?

  • Registered Users Posts: 459 ✭✭nmacc

It's in an underground car park. All spaces are revenue generators; the car park operators are not going to let something like that eat into their revenue. Therefore the car belongs to the owner/builder of the car park, or a tenant with rights to a space, or possibly to a contractor who's still completing the building. Either way, if it was actually abandoned the operators of the car park would move swiftly to deal with it.

It's not alone in this particular car park, there are two other cars spread around. It's not too unusual to see this; if you check out the Dun Laoghaire car park under the theatre (name escapes me) you may see a classic Mercedes looking sorry for itself. I'm reliably informed it belongs to someone as described above.

This can't be abandoned, looks like an early 60's Lincoln has suicide doors and all. Could easily be brought back to show standard.

Shame on owner letting it go like that though.

These people shouldn't be allowed to own classic cars if they can't take care of them properly.

    Engel-designed Lincoln Continental, possibly 1964

Should look like Max's photo, or like this: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=006&category=6304&sspagename=WDVW&viewitem=&item=160240155325&rd=1
