New NWA Ireland Champion - 'The Thrill' V 'Maxer' just getting started !

Phil 'The Thrill' Boyd defeated Sean 'Maxer' Brennan this past Sunday April 1st in Bray, Co. Wicklow to become the new NWA Ireland Champion. After defeating Georgie Mac in a Number 1 Contenders match, Boyd demanded that he challenge for the title later in the show. Boyd cleverly manipulated NWA Ireland Champion Sean 'Maxer' Brennan who had been injured for the past several months into accepting the match, which would later prove to be a bad decision for Brennan.

Boyd made his way to the ring first and attacked the champion with a steel chair as he made his way to the ring before the bell rang. The match was a great contest that went back and forth, but Brennan suffered a severe laceration to the head late on. This, combined with the champions lack of match fitness over the past few months and his continuing recouperation from his recent illness and injury proved too much for 'Maxer' and Phil 'The Thrill' Boyd emerged as the new NWA Ireland Champion ending Sean 'Maxer' Brennans long and successful run as champion.

After the show 'Maxer' went to a local hospital where the cut on his head was glued shut and he was diagnosed with bruised ribs and a slight concussion. Although this is a set back to his full time in-ring return, Brennan has vowed to come back better than ever and wants the NWA Ireland Title back at the earliest oppertunity. He says that the Brennan V Boyd fued is only getting started and that although Boyd won the battle, he will win the war.

Phil 'The Thrill' Boyd on the other hand is on top of the world. The former Two Time NWA Ireland Tag Team Champion now has the NWA Ireland Title around his waist and. The new Champion of Ireland has vowed to take on all challenges and has granted Brennan a rematch at the earliest oppertunity. 'The Thrill' has promised that the NWA Ireland Title belt will be around his waist for a long time to come, and has promised to carry the title with the same passion, pride, determination, respect, tradition and fighting spirit as all the previous champions before him.

All at NWA Ireland pass congratulate Phil 'The Thrill' Boyd on becomming the new NWA Ireland Champion and look forward to seeing Sean 'Maxer' Brennan get his rematch as soon as possible. It looks like the fued between 'The Thrill' and 'Maxer' is just getting started, but for now the era of Phil 'The Thrill' Boyd as NWA Ireland Champion is just beginning. The stickies on the forums for the Irish promotions have been merged into one sticky. There are two reasons for this:

    1) Seven stickies is a few too many

    2) People can't be expected to check out each thread for each promotion. At the moment, IwW has got more views in their thread than the other three combined. With the threads merged this means that people looking at the thread will be able to quickly find out about all Irish promotions, which is a benefit to all of them

There was trouble in the past on this forum with people from one promotion talking bad about other promotions and vice versa. Promotion bashing will still not be tolerated

To clarify, people from any Irish promotion can post all their upcoming cards and their results in the Irish promotions' sticky. If anyone wants to have a discussion about an Irish wrestling show they are free to start their own thread. Basically as you were, but with one sticky instead of four

I think you need to put more rules in place. The Iww thread had more updates than the other. The others would usually just post when their having a new show, and sometimes the results. While the Iww thread would post updates on the cards coming forward.

Another rule could be promotions can only post their cards and results and major news such as Top Intenational talent coming in, etc.

Otherwise it will be hard to find out info on all the promotions if promotions start posting trivial info just to keep there promotion on every page.

That is a sound idea. As it is, IwW do post the most updates, and they're all well written and relevant. I've noticed that the others don't post updates on every show they do, so if they start to post about every show then that's well and good. It'll be obvious if trivial info that isn't relevant is posted and I'll keep my eye on that

It's to every promotion's benefit to post about their upcoming cards, but also the results. When it's just the cards that are posted, it can seem that all they care about is getting their money off people, and once they do that then they're happy. Posting the results gives the impression that they care about keeping people up to date with what's going on

So more updates from promotions would be appreciated, but only if it's relevant

BAM READIES FOR FIRST TITLE SHOT

    IwW International Heavyweight Championship Match

    127726148a3419905174b771091225l.jpg vs Bam2.jpg

VIC VIPER © vs. BAM KATRAZZ

Arklow fans are in for a treat this week as IwW makes its debut in the area, with a huge title match recently announced for the event.

In his first ever shot at the IwW International Heavyweight Championship, the ever-popular Bam Katrazz will challenge current champion Vic Viper.

Both men are having two of the most intense years of their careers to date. Katrazz is still coming off show-stealing matches with the likes of Kid Kash and Nigel McGuinness while Viper is riding a wave of momentum after defeating 'The Fallen Angel' Christopher Daniels at IwW SuperShow Sunday.

IwW officials consider Bam to be one of the most "hard-working and popular" stars on the IwW roster and consider him worthy of an opportunity to challenge for the championship after bouncing back from facing some of the most hard-hitting stars in the sport today and only seeming to get better and better.

But when you talk about hard-hitting, there is perhaps no one in Ireland who packs a punch like the 3-month reigning champion Viper.

There is no doubt that Bam faces an uphill battle with the larger and more intense Viper and if he intends to become Champion will likely have to withstand one hell of a beating in the proces.

If anyone can do so though, it's Katrazz who has pulled off some of the biggest and unlikely victories in IwW's 5-year history. Will he be able to pull off the biggest win of his career and become champion this Sunday?

BALLANCE GIVES YOUNG TRAINEES BIG OPPORTUNITY

    zgbelt.jpg

    IwW Zero-Gravity Championship Match

    Ballance.jpg vs. Skelly.jpg vs. JC.jpg

BINGO BALLANCE © vs. BROTHER SKELLY vs. 'The Sligo Sex Bomb' JC WILLIAMS

Head trainer of the IwW Training Gym and current IwW Zero-Gravity Champion, Bingo Ballance, is possibly the most fighting champion in IwW history.

However, maybe his willingness to defend his belt against all comers has backfired as this Sunday Ballance must defend the title against two of IwW's most underrated talents in a match where he does not have to be pinned to lose the belt.

Ballance nominated both men for title shots having seen their hard work and effort down the IwW Training Gym, and with Gym Wars always being the place for IwW trainees to shine, perhaps the efforts of both Brother Skelly and JC Williams will pay off and translate into Championship gold this Sunday.

However, one would be a fool to bet against Ballance, who has overcome massive odds to retain his gold in the past before and looks to continue the trend in what is sure to be a show-stealing contest. He is one of Europe's top talents without a doubt, and his big-match experience edge certainly makes him the favourite in this match.

With that said though, this is Gym Wars and the Zero-Gravity division and anyone familiar with those two phrases know that anything can happen in this huge title match on Sunday. Make sure you're there to find out!

THE REVOLUTION CONTINUES WITH NEW MEMBER THIS SUNDAY

    2007_0218Ashbourne0031.jpg

As many of you may know already, this Sunday marks the final show in Irish Whip Wrestling for 'The Fresh Prince of Bel Clair' Harry Hardshaw.

Hardshaw debuted last year as a tag-team with fellow Ballymun-native, the Ballymun Bruiser. He went on to give a good showing in the King of the Gym tournament and was tipped (rightly) to be one of the breakout stars in IwW of 2006. However it wasn't until he began to team with the self-proclaimed 'Future of Wrestling Period' Rick O'Shea to make The Revolution tag-team that Hardshaw really began to see the success his talents deserved.

O'Shea and Hardshaw were often hated by IwW fans, but also developed a cult-following with many. Hardshaw especially seemed to have a good rapport with a lot of the old school IwW fanbase who appreciated his unpredictable antics. However, with Hardshaw scheduled to move to Australia to pursue his wrestling career there, the future of The Revolution was thrown into doubt.

This Sunday, all will be made clear as the two will kick off the show by both naming a replacement for Hardshaw. There has been much speculation in the IwW Training Gym as to who the new addition will be, but whoever it is remains tight-lipped and even IwW officials are dumbfounded as to who it may be. Could it be a new member of the IwW roster? Or will an old foe make a shocking turn over to join the anti-IwW movement? And what could this new team possibly have in store for IwW in the coming months? All will be revealed this Sunday...

NEW FEMALE TALENT TO DEBUT AT GYM WAR

IwW Gym Wars have always been the first-step for new trainees to step up and be counted before heading off to the big-time and, in its two years, has given debuts to some of the top names in Irish wrestling today.

This Sunday, IwW officials have promised that a new female talent will make her debut and "be thrown in the deep end" so to speak in a tag-team contest against two of the most experienced members of the IwW roster. A lot is expected of this young female, who has impressed both trainers and officials with her toughness and will-to-win down the IwW Training Gym, and many tip her to revolutionise the IwW Women's Division and step up to become Ireland's top female talent sooner rather than later.

Make sure you're there Sunday to see the first chapter in this potential star's career!

BAD TIME TO BE A CHAMPION IN IwW....

    127726148a3419905174b771091225l.jpgBallance.jpg

It is sure to be one of the most history-making tours in Irish wrestling history, but if you are holding one of IwW's coveted title belts, it may just be your worst nightmare. The May Dublin tour kicks off this Saturday and both IwW International Heavyweight Champion, Vic Viper, and IwW Zero-Gravity Champion, Bingo Ballance, are without a doubt in for possibly the toughest tests of their careers with numerous title defences scheduled. The consensus behind the scenes is that should a title not change hands on this tour, it will take a 'miracle'.

IRISH DRAGON COMES HOME FOR A CHAMPIONSHIP UPSET?

    2007_0218Ashbourne0013.jpg

The first leg of the tour sees IwW make its long-anticipated return to Neilstown Community Centre where Clondalkin-native Irish Dragon faces a monumental task as he challenges Vic Viper for the IwW International Heavyweight Championship.

In what will no doubt be the biggest match in this young star's career, Dragon (who can usually be seen high-flying in the IwW Zero-Gravity Division) has accepted a Rocky-like challenge and goes into this match the overwhelming underdog.

The memo was sent around IwW offices that Viper had set out an Open Challenge for the title defence to 'anyone who he had not yet beaten for the belt', and Dragon was quick to jump on the opportunity.

It will be power vs. speed. The much-larger and stronger Viper has beaten some of the top stars in both Ireland and the world in recent months to remain champions. The likes of Kid Kash and Christopher Daniels have both fallen in their efforts to become IwW International Heavyweight Champion. However, it is Viper's cockiness and overconfidence that Dragon looks to exploit if he is to become Champion.

Wrestling in front of his hometown seems to inspire this plucky competitor, as he has never been defeated in front of a Neilstown audience, in fact picking up some of his biggest wins there. Last June, Dragon overcame longtime rival 'The Heretic' Red Vinny for his first victory over the IwW stalwart, while upon IwW's return to the area last November Dragon emerged victorious in a show-stealing triple-threat match against Bam Katrazz and Space Cadet to qualify for the IwW Zero-Gravity Championship Tournament.

But Viper is a different beast. He has proved to possibly be the most unstoppable and resourceful Champion in IwW history and goes into this a clear favourite. Can Dragon pull off a huge upset?

BRUISER WELCOMES BALLANCE TO THE 'HOUSE OF FUN' IN LONG-AWAITED REMATCH

    l_659e85f5065a6b88d30ef549dafa5627.jpg

Last November, 'The Man with the Golden Can' Ballymun Bruiser and current IwW Zero-Gravity Champion Bingo Ballance competed in a true mat classic, Two-out-of-Three-Falls match in Ballymun, where Bingo Ballance emerged victorious winning two falls to one. But upon IwW's return to the Ballymun Comp, a rematch has been signed for the IwW Zero-Gravity Championship. However, this most certainly will not be a wrestling classic. This will be a fight. This will be 'House of Fun' Ballymun Rules....

Ballance has been possibly the most-fighting champion of any belt in IwW history. He has taken on all-comers and beaten every great Zero-Gravity competitor that has crossed his path.

Bruiser will be the first to tell you though, he is no Zero-Gravity competitor. Born and raised on the tough streets of Ballymun, he is a true street fighter and brawler in every sense of the word.

Clontarf-native Ballance may find himself out of his depth when he steps into this street fight with one of Ballymun's hardest. The last time the two took each other on at Ballymun, Bruiser ended up tasting his own blood at the hands of Ballance. And that was a wrestling classic. IwW insiders are highly-anticipating the extent these two can take the no holds barred nature of this match.

Ballance is without a doubt one of the best wrestlers in Ireland. But this Sunday, he steps into the ring with one of the best fighters. Is there any way he can retain his gold?

O'SHEA VOWS TO MAKE ZERO-GRAVITY CHAMPION SAY 'I QUIT'

    celtic5.jpg

After hearing the announcement of the 'House of Fun' Ballymun Rules Zero-Gravity Championship match, ever the opportunist, 'The Revolution' Rick O'Shea was quick to challenge the winner of said contest when IwW comes back to his hometown in Blanchardstown just three days later. However, as if a Ballymun Rules war followed by this challenge wasn't enough odds for the champion to be fighting, O'Shea has upped the ante by making next Wednesday's title match an 'I Quit' Match.

For those unfamiliar with the rules: there are none! Anything goes in this brutal match (the first to be contested in a Dublin ring) and the only way you can win is to beat your opponent into submission until he says the words 'I Quit' into the house microphone.

O'Shea has promised to 'revolutionise' the IwW Zero-Gravity division, which he considers to be a 'stain' on the landscape of professional wrestling today.

"I remember the good old days when wrestling was simply you punch your opponent til he falls. Then you lock on a submission hold until he taps out. If he doesn't tap, you break a limb. Easy as that. Nowadays all the fans want to see are these flips and death-defying moves. I am the future of this industry and yet fans don't want to see me. They want to see Bingo Ballance or Bam Katrazz do some insane flips Well sometimes you just have to teach the fans what's best for them, and the best way to do that is to beat their little champion like the ***** he is, make him say 'I Quit' and tell them that you are better than any of their dumb little Zero-Gravity 'stars'"

The 'I Quit' rules certainly give O'Shea an advantage. A little known fact among IwW fans is that 'The Made for TV Messiah' is well-versed in submission wrestling with such holds as the Super-cali-fragilistic-expialad-O'Shea (pictured above) and the Stairway to Heaven in his arsenal. He is also no stranger to hardcore brawls, more recently emerging victorious pinning former partner Harry Hardshaw in the main event of a classic hardcore Gym War encounter.

Whoever the champion may be will no doubt still be recovering from their first war on Sunday. The odds are stacked against them. Will we see the Zero-Gravity division 'revolutionised' next Wednesday? Be in Verona Football Club to find out...

In News from the first ever FFPW Wired Event(Sanctioned by NWA Ireland)

The night kicked off with a newcomer to the Wired scene, as young Ulsterman, & PWU wrestler Toxic made his Wired debut facing off against the juggernaut Emperor AJ. Ever the underdog against the much larger & more experienced AJ, Toxic naturally found himself on the defensive for much of the match absorbing plenty of AJ's trademark 'Vini, Vidi, Vicious' Chops. Toxic mounted minimal offense until a final flurry which failed to put the Emperor down used up the last of the fight that was left in Toxic. After an illegal low blow from AJ, things were all too elementary, as AJ Finished off Toxic with his patented 'Maximus Pain' finisher.

As would become the theme of the night, the suprises didn't end there. When Kev Rocks' music played, fans knew they were in store for a Glam Rockin good time courtesy of the ever colourful 'GRS', however, fans surely didn't expect to see Rocks' some time Tag Partner RODD come out to the ring with him. The Electric Express, as the duo are known, were in an especially good mood on the night & the mood was infectious. The Electric Express' party was cut short however, as their opponents for the evening, UCW tag team champions the Weapons Of Mass Seduction(Sensational Shawn Scott & Fabulous Frankie Fever), came to spoil the fun. After being embarassed by the express in the early stages of the match, the WOMS took control for long spells. It would not be plain sailing for the WOMS though, as a combination of a "GlamRock Shock" superkick from Rocks & a quick roll up from RODD, meant that the Electric Duo who were "Born To Raise Hell" went home with a victory. Thankfully for the WOMS this match was not sanctioned by UCW so their Tag Team Championship was not on the line.

Next was a showcase of some of Ireland's best high fliers as the arrogant young gun of the Regency Society, Aguila Artois, took on another newcomer to Wired, 'Amazing' Insano. The two had a dark horse candidate for match of the night as they would display some of the quickest, most jaw dropping action wired has seen in recent months. Although an arrogant young man, former junior champion Aguila backed it up in this match, putting away one of Celtic Pro Wrestling's best with his breathtaking top rope moonsault.

It was then time for something that one man had been waiting over a month to do. New NWA Ireland Heavyweight Champion Phil 'The Thrill' Boyd hit the ring & proceeded to hold a belated celebration of his recent title win. Perched atop a mock podium, Boyd was sprinkled with confetti & balloons by FFPW staff until the former champion, Sean 'Maxer' Brennan came to the ring to spoil the party. Maxer congratulated The Thrill on his title victory, but reminded him that he did not beat a 100% fit Sean 'Maxer' Brennan, that Maxer was still feeling the effects of his life threatening illness. Boyd dared Brennan to step in the ring tonight & try to take the title back, knowing well that Brennan was not medically cleared to wrestle. Boyd further raised the ire of Brennan by calling him chicken, Maxer then demanded that a title match take place that night. Those words clearly lit a fire under Sean South, who entered the Fight Factory to inform both men that he hadn't yet received an opponent for the evening & challenged the champion to a match later that evening under the grounds that the two had wrestled to a draw just before Boyd secured the gold. The Thrill accepted, under one condition, that if Boyd won South would have to go right back down the NWA Ireland rankings and build his way back up from the very bottom to earn the privilidge to fight for gold again. Maxer gave South his blessing with a few words of encouragement & the main event was set.

Returning to action, young FFPW standout 'Sugarfree' Brian Andrew made his debut in a losing effort to former UCW champion The Machine. Though Machine showed his usual callous attitude of "No Fear, No Regrets, No Remorse" he was not having an easy time with the talented Andrew. It would take a whole host of dirty tricks culminating in a pin with feet on the ropes for Machine notch a victory over the impressive Andrew.

Two Wired regulars next clashed in a first time battle, as Del PC went head to head with 'Knockout' Oscar Knight. Del PC would be a recipient of a blackened eye in the opening moments of this encounter as the World's bravest Nerd was caught square in the face with one of Knight's devastating punches. The match was ripe for the taking by Knight on many occasions after that, but eventually after missing his patented SBF(Spinning Back Fist), Del PC Capitolised with CTRL-ALT-ESC, a devastating back suplex come face buster.

The number one contendership for the NWA Ireland tag team championship was next on the line as Paddy Morrow & Robbie Morrissey took on Joey Cabray & Georgie Mac. In a hard hitting encounter where each man exhausted almost every move in his repetoire, Cabray & Mac got the win with a pin on Morrow following a devastating Dragon Suplex which nearly broke the neck of the former NWA Ireland champion.

The show reaching it's finale with the first of three title matches taking place next, under Last Man Standing rules Paul Tracey would defend the NWA UK British Commonwealth Championship against the Regency Society's Michael Winchester. At the last Wired event, Winchester complained of being overlooked by NWA Ireland matchmakers & insisted that he was worthy of title opportunities. In the interest of fairness, Winchester received the chance to back up his claims against one of the finest wrestlers in the Alliance, Paul Tracey. Tracey was all business as he wasted little time in getting to the ring to start this match. The two fought tooth & nail all over the fight factory using anything that wasn't breathing as weapons, each trying to keep the other on the ground for the 10 count. In the end, Tracey would leave as he entered, arm raised & title around his waist after rendering Winchester unable to answer the 10 count following a parking sign assissted superkick.

The second of 3 titles were on the line in the penultimate match of the evening as Team Mega defended their NWA Ireland Tag Team Championships against Gerry Soul's D4(Awesome Andy & Studly Steve). Gerry Soul was in no mood for the entertaining Kildare duo & showed them a complete lack of respect by arranging dinner plans with an acquaintance until his mobile phone was snatched from him by Justy B and promptly smashed against the nearest wall. Irate, Soul told his two young charges to stop at nothing to take the NWA Ireland Tag Team Championship away from Ireland's most entertaining tag team. Experience won out on this occasion, & following a Pounce which sent Studly Steve flying from the ring, the pinfall was gained on Awesome Andy.

The final match of the evening was contested under one fall rules with no time limit & was for the NWA Ireland Heavyweight Championship. The challenger, Sean South, entered first looking considerably more focused than usual, knowing well that if he won he would achieve the dream of every wrestler in Ireland, & that if he lost he wouldn't get another chance at that dream until he worked his way through the ranks again. The champion seemed confident, especially after jumping South from behind to gain an early advantage. That advantage would be short live though as South would firmly gain control, almost ending the match & Boyd's reign early with a running Ace crusher. South seemed destined to be going home hith a heavier bag than when he arrived until the Thrill gained the advantage using some underhanded tactics. The Champion then dominated the match, offering the challenger very little time to breath as he was constatly on the offensive. South mounted a flurry towards the end of the match with heartstopping near falls following high impact manouvres directed at Boyd's neck. The two traded the advantage as both came agonisingly close to the victory. South kicked out of a top rope Legdrop & Boyd would weather the storm of a Straight South. in the end, a stroke of pure ingenuity kept the title firmly strapped around Boyd's waist. South attempted a top rope Straight South, but was countered by Boyd into a Code Red powerbomb, the challenger hit the mat at a high angle & with considerable speed. Knocked unconscious & with a minor neck injury, the challenger was pinned by Boyd, bringing an end to South's challenge & the show. But beginning the reign of Phil 'The Thrill' Boyd as NWA Ireland Champion in ultra impressive fashion.

    Quick Results
    Emperor AJ pinned Toxic

The Electric Express def Weapons Of Mass Seduction

    Aguila Artois Pinned CPW's Insano

The Machine def 'Sugarfree' Brian Andrew

Del PC def. 'Knockout' Oscar Knight

Georgie Mac & Joey Cabray def Paddy Morrow & Robbie Morrissey

Britsh Commonwealth Championship(Last Man standing rules):
    Paul Tracey(c) def Michael Winchester

    NWA Ireland Tag Team Championship
    Team Mega(C) def D4

    NWA Ireland Heavyweight Championship
Phil 'The Thrill' Boyd(C) def Sean South

With Sean 'Maxer' Brennan still out ill & Sean South at the bottom of a very large & arduous mountain, Phil Boyd may be NWA Ireland Champion for a long time to come, unless someone steps up to challenge & possibly takes the title from him before either South or Maxer have the chance to even try.

Celtic Pro 17 was a very good night for Gerry Soul and D4! collectively and individually. Firstly, ‘Studly’ Steve, ‘Delicious’ Darren and ‘Awesome’ Andy were victorious in their singles matches against Lee Lightening, Thunder titan and Ciaran Gallagher respectively.

However, their night of success extended beyond the ring.

During the intermission, ‘Delicious’ Darren and D4!’s bodyguard Danny ‘The Pain’ were involved in an altercation with Max ‘The Hammer’ Martello, which left Martello being taken from the building in an ambulance. D4! continued their dominant night when ‘Awesome’ Andy scored a victory over one half of the Celtic Pro Tag Team Champions, Ciaran Gallagher. After the match, ‘Studly’ Steve and Gerry Soul joined Andy in a three-on-one beat down.

D4! then issued a challenge for the Celtic Pro Tag Team Championship. Gerry Soul then announced ‘Awesome’ Andy and ‘Studly’ Steve as the “uncrowned Celtic Pro Tag Team Champions” Elsewhere, Lenny Hanan surprised the crowd when he upset the former Celtic Pro Champion, Insano. Hanan, who debuted last month and narrowly lost to Insano, hit an implant DDT for the three-count.

‘The Convict’ John Jennings continued his path of destruction with an impressive victory over ‘The Housewives’ Favourite’ Darragh Galligan. Jennings continually flouted the rules in his match, as he bashed and choked his way to victory.

The Celtic Pro Champion, Neil Frenzy, had to overcome a vicious and determined, ‘All Star’ Anthony Idol. Idol, who made his return to Celtic Pro last month, and attacked Frenzy with a chair, vowing to make an impact. However the only impact being made was as Frenzy’s foot collided with Idol’s jaw with a hellacious superkick. Allowing Frenzy to cover Idol for a three-count.
