Snake in the Eagle's Shadow is on film 4 at 11.25 tonight. Old school Jackie Chan kung fu flick. Worth a look if you like that kind of thing.

TV3, Sat. 11:15PM: One Hour Photo. Robin Williams in a serious role, as a lonely man who becomes obsessed with a seemingly "perfect" family after developing their photos. Genuinely unnerving, from what I remember, with Wlliams not even remotely comical.

From out there on the moon, international politics look so petty. You want to grab a politician by the scruff of the neck and drag him a quarter of a million miles out and say, ‘Look at that, you son of a bitch’.

the very amusing crocodile dundee plays film4 tomorrow at 1.pm.

it's very worthwhile catching bacause of how much the channel has
    cut out of it.

if it were a so called drinking game and you took a sip of light
freshment at each cut, you'd be p*ssed as a newt by the end
    credits.

    :D

    totally hacked up!

i love the film btw. (uncut of course) i remember catching it twice
    at the savoy.

They'll also probably cut the "that's not a knife" scene and the Linda Kozlowski's arse scene.

I was a bit disappointed by Clerks. Sky must have shares in Master and Commander and Another 48 Hours.

If you get Film4, the David Lean 1948 version of Oliver Twist is on at 6:25PM. This is a pretty faithful version of the Dickens, definitely not to be confused with the musical that was made from the story in the 1960s. I saw this last week and the original story has some fairly shocking elements in it. Oliver is treated badly by just about everyone he encounters from birth, that it's almost a miracle when he does get some decent care.

Alec Guinness plays Fagin as a bit of a Jewish psycho, such a nasty character that the film (like the 1st edition of the book) generated complaints of anti-Semitism - but he's not the worst character in the story. That distinction goes to Bill Sikes (Robert Newton), a thug too horrid for a Guy Ritchie film; he can't even treat his dog decently, never mind people.

From out there on the moon, international politics look so petty. You want to grab a politician by the scruff of the neck and drag him a quarter of a million miles out and say, ‘Look at that, you son of a bitch’.
