All schools are now gatewayed in the NCTE who monitor all traffic to and from schools. I installed 4 school networks in last 2 weeks and all, proxy sheilding sites are blocked, the way the NCTE work, is they allow what they want you to use, rather then block what they dont want you to see.

Pretty fool proofed from what I have seen

let's hope they don't allow them to view boards.ie so they won't ask us how to get around it.

On myspace you put up pictures of yourself, clips of your favourite songs, a little blog and your friends leae you messages.

    So what?

what the enfer is good about that? It is a load of rubbish.

    So myspacers:

What is so good about myspace?

    It makes no sense.

i have a few friends that have gone to oz for the year, its nice to see how they are doing and look at their pics. My brother moved to edinburgh 2 days ago, not sure when he'll be back...he'll be in contact with me through bebo i'm sure.

    myspace is great for...

    1. you're looking to broaden your music taste without having to buy cd's or itunes tracks.

    2. you're in a band and want a way of releasing your music to potentially millions of people without any cost involved (like setting up a website/hosting etc...)

this is the only reason why i use myspace.

What's so good about Boards? All you get is a little bit of information about what strangers think about stuff.

Maybe people like MySpace because they can put up their own pictures and songs to share, write a blog, and get messages from their friends.

Boardsie Enhancement Suite - a browser extension to make using Boards on desktop a better experience (includes full-width display, keyboard shortcuts, dark mode, and more). Now available through your browser's extension store.

    Firefox: https://addons.mozilla.org/addon/boardsie-enhancement-suite/

    Chrome/Edge/Opera: https://chromewebstore.google.com/detail/boardsie-enhancement-suit/bbgnmnfagihoohjkofdnofcfmkpdmmce

i hate bebo. i deleted my account just a few days ago. i liked the concept of it at first. its a great place for getting in contact and staying in touch with old friends from school/college, people you haven't seen in years and the like. but its turned into something awful since.

now its just a place to share boring pics of yourself in a pub/club holding a beer, or on holiday holding a beer, or talking about how you had too many beers last night etc etc etc.

personally i think this social networking thing is just a fad. bebo is already starting to become uncool.

myspace/bebo/etc are basically blogs for people who don't want/need to know how to set up a blog themselves.

thats it in a nutshell. although i think it might be more accurate to say website as most people (on bebo anyway) don't really use the blog feature, except for crappy jokes.

I got laid thanks to myspace hehe .
Now anyone else need a reason to use it :D

But to be fair I thought it was pretty sad myself until I was contacted by an old friend from the states and I use it like I'd use email..

it's just email with pics...Although I do find it funny and kinda Ironic how people Bitc% about myspace and bebo on a internet Forum...

    [/ rant mode: on]

Bebo as a concept isn't a bad idea. Give people a customisable webpage/blog thingy, and then let them form social groups.

Whats wrong with Bebo, is what's wrong with EVERYTHING on-line that tries of create a community.
People. Or more to the point, people who are arseholes.

For example the last message I got before I closed my Bebo A/C was one that warned me of the dire consequences of not spamming the living jebus out of my meagre friends list, because bebo was "running out of names".

What is really amazing about these things is the list of people to whom the spam has been quite willingly forwarded to. Over 100 people got the "send this so we know who is active" mail, by my count/rough estimate, and that's just the one trail, so you can see how something like this would explode like a swollen pimple.

Anyway, back to the point. Bebo is a magnet for arseholes.
The kind of arseholes who think it's "funny" to send this kind of gack to unsuspecting people, who in turn become arseholes by forwarding this muck on, out of genuine fear or just "for the fun of it".

And thus bebo becomes a victim of it's own ambition. By making it possible to link people you greatly increase they ways in which people can spam each other to death. On live journal or some other blog a meme does the rounds, fair enough. It has it's life cycle, and generally goes away after a bit. On bebo it'll live forever, and because of the mail feature the more retarded stuff gets send around. Nobody on a blog would consider posting "put this in your journal, so we know that you are still using live journal, OR THE WORLD WILL EXPLODE!".
They'd be laughed right of the internet. But the mail thing makes it even more anonymous, so you can shower people with any old gack.

Blogs or forums aren't perfect either, but at least they aren't showering me with rubbish...

    [/ rant mode: off]

Too bad you sign over all the rights to your music to Rupert Murdoch in the process. Always read the fine print!

Um! No the end is not near for bebo. Simply because, they can ban them from veiwing bebo/myspace at school but they can't ban it from your own house! Sure the schools mightn't like it but they can't install crap into the students personal computers. Sure they won't be able to go on it from school but they will still be able to acess it from home:D
