I'm a fitter by trade and also a welder (coded) I can under stand a break but cannot understand the bubble under the top tube, it's a push (impact) mark not a pull stretch mark, stress would have broken the weld at the bottom and the weld doesn't look undercut (too deep)

thats a nice bike, has an xt rear derailleur and some slx bits and pieces, also says it weighs 12.8kg which if true is a nice weight, you plan to do any races etc with it? also looks the business

Well as mentioned I'm fairly new to the game. I've just bought a house which was a huge thing and fecking stressful so I haven't had too much time to cycle and enjoy it. Don't shoot me but I've not taken it off road yet...... but that's certainly something I'd love to try in the future.

This is my first proper bike and it's been such an eye opener that I'm kicking myself for never having bought a good bike previously. Each and every time I hop into the saddle it's just a really enjoyable experience (apart from being hit by that car). It's just silky smooth to ride and long distances just waft by.

So in short. I'm new to having a good bike, would love to use it more and would like in the future to take it off road.

my advice with having a mtb is join a club, they will show you all the good trails and its also a great motivator to see how unfit you are compared to other people id know, as for getting hit by a car :eek: was it serious? you and the bike alright?

That's a good idea..... and yeah I'm terribly unfit. The bike is grand, it faired better than me. My back is still a little sore but nothing major I think (hope):

Are you going to put a TT protector on it? I put new bars on the track bike at weekend with grips and the first thing they did was swing around and leave a mark on the TT

I dont think it will be necessary, the tubing used is Colombus Zeta which is straight gauge thick and heavy, very stiff! seat post is 26.6mm.
I have another track frame which will be ready soon, I justm making up some decals, the tubing is like egg shell so will have to be treated gently

actually found the frame on adverts, in specialist bike section. was very suprised there was not much interest. there seemed to be issues with Mexican built Benotto's from what Ive read online, but the track frames didnt seem to suffer from overheated brazing. One guy bought one straight from the Mexican factory with his race winnings, raced it a few seasons and then used it on the road to this day.

They moved to Mexico because the owner married a rich Mexican woman.

the tyres are cotton walled clinchers, the first folding race race tyre released by Michelin. late 80's I think. found them NOS on ebay. very rare.
I dont think Ill race on them

frame is 60cm, room for 23c tyres, the back wheel almost touches the seat tube!


I might try it out today just for a quick spin. I fitted a Dia Compe rear track brake to it as theres no brake holes.I will be trying out slotted cleats, got some Yoshida slotted cleats(Look), I'll prob wait till Im at Sundrive

I was thinking more about sctratches etc? It's a 60 or 61cm frame right? Looks amazing.

thanks, just checked and its 61cm, stamped on BB shell. Im not too worried about scratches but I'll see

Anyone can show up, but they're starting to charge for training this month. 30 for the season I think, or 5 a session (it's totally worth it). Not sure what the rules are for clips etc. you'll be able to ask on Friday I guess or the details are on trackcycling.ie
