Simple enough thread, what's the boards head's fave gear these days?

    Mine:

    BC Rich NJ Series Virgin
    EMG 81 at Bridge Position
    EMG 85 at Neck Position
    D'Addario 10 Guage Strings

BC Rich NJ Series 5-String Warlock Bass

    Laney Hardcore Max 30watt
    Trace Elliot Boxer 30watt

    Boss Metal Zone Distortion Pedal
    Digitech RP100 Effects Procsessor Pedal

    Fender Leads
    Dunlop 1mm Picks

And I've yet to pick it up:

BC Rich Body-Art Collection Mockingbird "Fire Breather"
    EMG 81 at Bridge Position
    D'Addario 10 Guage Strings

And there you have it, that's my gear from strings, picks, leads, amps, guitars, pedals... You can all see that I certainly love my BC Rich Guitars. :) I've nothing really special amp-wise because I'm not gigging yet, and I could rent a decent enough amp easily enough the first few times. Although I've certainly got my eyes on a Mesa Boogie amp if I ever get rich.

If you are looking for something a bit beefier, maybe even look into something like a decent epiphone if you dont want to spend too much.even a bottom of the range ibanez can sound great. I use heavy gauges for a heavier sound. we play in Drop D which isnt the heavyist sounding tuning really but it can sound great with a nice distortion and beefy strings.

I have a playable Sonor kit. Standard five piece setup.

I currently use Zildjian ZBT's and I dislike them greatly. Set of hats, crash, and a ride. In another thread I mentioned my favourite cymbals as Sabian... a couple of years ago I "mislaid" all my Sabian cymbals.... including AAX stage hats. :( They were lovely.

Although the Zildjian ZBT hats are alright. Sonor hardware is shíte.

I don't think I really need to go into measurements now do I?

Epiphone Les Paul 100 Left Handed with 2 Open Coil Humbuckers (really want to change pickups on this..any recommendations?

Standard Stratocaster Left Handed dont know what brand the pick ups are but its 3 Single Coil Pickups (maybe I sohuld replace them too altough Im happy with the tone but the "it could always be better" mentality is eating me alive)

A Epiphone Accoustic AJ15 (cheapo first guitar which i play the most)

I want to get a decent semi-accoustic...preferably with fishman prefix pickups.. Have me eye on the Garrison brand but am open to suggestions.

A zoom 707 FX board cheap but i love it.

and a 10 watt marshall amp cause i live on a terraced street.

Bonzo: You have too much money.
Ancient: They kick ass! Mine's a lower class model but they seem to have discontinued it. It's not in the 2003/04 range so methinks I've now got a limited edition (sorta. Actually I just say it to make myself feel better)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,592 ✭✭✭Ancient1

I dont think its an entry-level model, since it's followed by the RG370, so i think its just discontinued.
I have the 2003 catalogue, but yours isnt in it...havent checked online though. Still, it cant be very different from the 370 and thats a major babe!

    PRS Santana SE

    Marshall AVT 50 watt amp

Ibanez tubescreamer TS-9 (I love this so much)
Boss DS-1 (to be replaced with a marshall shred master as soon as I win one on eBay)
Danelectric dan-o-wah (probably going to be retired to the drawer of old effects as I don't use it very much)
RFX phaseovibe (weird effect I picked up in America acts as a phaser and as a vibrato)
    Boss TU-2 Chromatic tuner

I also sometimes use a Line 6 pod thourgh my effects loop when I want to make significant changes to my sound.

I use planet wave cables and D'Addario 10's.

Next buys Digitech Whammy Pedal, Marshall Shredmaster, then either a Flanger or a Phaser not sure which yet.

I also have a Squire strat which I have alot of love for, even though it's a cheap guitar.

Chicks know that guitar players have the biggest egos in a band. Girls look for a more fulfilling, sophisticated experience. Thats why there's always a queue for the keyboard player :p

    - was living in the US for 6 months so splashed out. My old BC Rich was robbed from my car so I decided to treat myself. had to sell the amp beore coming home so am currently using

    '94 PRS CE24
    Zoom GFX-8
    Crybaby 535
Peavey Bandit (ditching this when I get a band together and some cash)

Software wise its Sonar 2, Reason 2 thru an M-Audio scard.

Hopefully buying back my old MXR Dynacomp from a pal soon, i love that pedal.
