His show is pure ****e. I love today FM in general but I turn off when i hear him. Only Matt Cooper is on in the evenings, their is a chance I would never tune back to Today Fm.
They giggle at stupid things, its like a studio full of dumb blondes.

I like foley, i'm a rep so get to listen to the radio alot during the day. I also listen to BBC radio cuz I work in the UK too and just in my humble opinion Foley also listens to BBC and has modelled his radio show on some of the more successful radio shows. Why not, if it works use it. However I do find him irritating at times when he keeps going on about being ''The King'' I expect more is to come after winning yet another award tonight. May tune out for a few weeks till he calms down. Its his wife I feel sorry for. Imagine living with him

i think everyone's problem here is that your all taking him way more serious than your meant to.

He only does the king thing as a piss take. He's having a laugh, i dont know why people cant just take it at face value as it is. he's just having a laugh on the radio, just relax and enjoy it.

Just a point out but you seem in the minority here??? I guess his taking the piss/having a laught is wearing thin for alot of people - That seems to be the majority so far:eek:

its light entertainment and about as humerous as anything else on the radio, maybe he could mix it up a bit more but to be fair, 3 meteor awards in a row, he's doing something right when the other DJ's wernt even given a chance by the bookies

I was listening today and other DJ's were saying that foley not so much this year was touting mercilessly to get people to vote. The more seasoned broadcasters were happy to sit back and let it happen. I'n my opinion the awards are given out to who ever shouts the loudest and believe me Foley is not backward in coming forward

like any "PUBLIC VOTE" event your going to shout for support, but in this case this year he employed a "ok now" system where if they recieved a load of "ok now's" for a particular segment it showed the fans enjoyed a particular segment and he would play a pre-recorded 5 second ad about vote for Ray foley and then continue with the show.

most shows you only heard the jingle maybe twice which on previous years is a massive step down in shouting

in fact he spent most of his time trying to get KC from Cork RDJ3 to win Regional DJ, because he and JP put 50 euro each down in the bookies at 4/1 (100 @ 4/1 = 400 lids + 100 back) to raise 500 sheets for Haiti and ended up promoting KC more than himself

so this year, he won the meteor, with the merciless shouting, and still was the bookies favourite by an absolute mile. Paddy power had him at 1/7 or 1/8 with his closest rival given odds of 7/1.

He's the only DJ in Today FM who increased his listenership in JNLR this year, every other DJ lost listeners, some in big percents.

I'd like to be able to sit here objectively and moan about the show, but he's an award winning, year on year listenership increasing DJ who still makes me chuckle from time to time.

The minority?seems to be fairly well balanced. The facts of it are is that he's proven to have a successful lunch time show. He gets flack for ripping off Chris Moyles - i'm so glad that someone has finally started to take influences from a source outside ireland's banal radio and bring it to these shores. He doesn't completely rip off moyles, but takes influences from a hugely successful dj, which happens in every creative environment - music, tv, design, etc.

What percentage of the irish radio-listening population listen,or have the means to listen to uk radio?A very small percentage I would imagine. Foley is taking a successful product, putting an irish twist on it, and applying it successfully within Ireland.No commercial product will have 100% following (believe it or not there are people that don't like using an ipod!),only listenership statistics will prove that. I honestly think these heavily sponsored public voting awards are codswallop, but it does prove listenership ratings.

Just my two cents worth, but threats of this nature, over something obviously very much tounge in cheek, and in keeping with the Ray Foley theme of the thread are, imo, a bit childish. Is there no banter allowed on boards?

I didn't listen to the blast but heard a few clips on youtube. It's kind of different to now. I wish I had clips of old podblasts.

ill agree with you there but the posters on here will tell you that, firstly, you must work on foley's show or are some sort of obsessed fan cos if ur on here supporting foley you must be him... cos god forbid he had supporters on here!!!!!

secondly, in relation to Ray winning 3 meteors in a row, they'll claim its cos of foley beggin for votes, without realising that people may vote regardless, cos he's the best of the lot up for the vote and that he deserves it!! Foley is good at what he does. His show is different compared to everything else on air!

I get that he's a love/hate dj cos ppl don't get his persona on air and think that's how is 'in real life', but shure, you can't please everyone!

Best of luck to KC, he will have a bit more leeway then Foley does in his slot at the mo, but that's all to do with the time he's on air.

Also, best of luck to KC's fill ins, big shoes to fill but im sure ye'll be grand! ppl shouldn't judge whoever it is before they actually go on air.

lol well i dont personally consider myself lowest common demoninator

he appeals to me, his show is very simple, he does stupid and funny stuff for 2 and a half hours and has the craic.

it just seems to me that the more successful someone is the more people that jump on the snipe and degrade bandwagon.

He's a Marmite DJ, you'll either love him or hate him, your not wrong to hate him, im not wrong to love him. I find his brand of humour amusing, i love the laura byrne stuff, i enjoy feedback with JP and Lazy Radio is a 10 minute segment once a week that is just a bit of fun on a friday as you cruise towards the weekend, closely followed by happy hour, which as a fan of cheese, sits fairly well.

Silly games like Ah Ye OK and Ray or JP or Foleys Friday Faceoff are just a bit of craic, and sometimes the banter you get with the caller is better than anything foley could have come up with.

All being fair its a simple show with a simple output, he's got a loyal following and is one of the few DJ's increasing listenership. throw the meteors out the door if you think their worth nothing, without them he's still one of the best DJ's in ireland and i wish him every success in the future.

remember 4 years ago Darcy was top DJ, he didnt even get nominated this year. how things have changed

I really Enjoy His show,With all the doom and gloom over the last year I`ve turned over from Eamon Keane On Newstalk the show would put a smile of your face.Ray and J.P. bounce off each other really well.The show works really well with J.P. knowing his role on the show.Well Done on the Award And P.s. Shockingly bad show. I can't understand why he has won that award once never mind 3 in a row.

He's won 3 awards because he is the best DJ on Irish Radio, show me a better DJ and i'll give them a try but Foley is the afternoon delight at the moment
