Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Could only have been a yellow at max for me. Wasnt that bad though could easily been worse

Catches him high. It's a yellow card. Irish lad was literally taking a knee which has to be taken into account. Just one of those things that will only be eliminated from the game if the physical nature of rugby eliminated too. There was no clear malice in it. He was chasing a player at pace who took a knee when catching it. He did well not to properly hit him in the head.

Harsh yellow there Hinckley couldn’t of got any lower with Kernohan moving down as Hinckley was approaching, a lot of big decisions going our way
They might be big decisions but they were the correct decisions

Tmo’s have been poor all day, in a senior international flannerys try is overturned every day of the week, hopefully we push on in the second half with the wind on our backs

No it's not. The on-field decision was a try and the TMO couldn't see any reason to overturn it.

If the ball is brought back over the goal-line then it's fair game. Very poor awareness from England

EDIT: Notice we're talking about different tries. Don't see how it's over-turned 'every day of the week' considering it looked like he got downward pressure.

What you on about that was a perfectly good try

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,062 ✭✭✭blackcard

Referee giving penalties to both teams for holding on in the tackle. With the wind in the second half, Ireland have to kick the ball and play in the English half.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,816 ✭✭✭Tigerandahalf

We are not making much progress on the gainline. I guess it is to be expected against a big English team.

Neither side look excellent. A good few unforced errors. England do look threatening out wide when they have space.

    Any other results today?

In a senior international with more input from referees and better angles available I think it would of be overturned looked like he lost it as he went to ground it. As I said with better angles in pro games it would of been clearer

Hmmm. The ref for this fixture is called "Murphy". Neutral much? Can't find out where he's from.

    Shocking discipline to start half.

Does anyone know who that commentator on eire sport is and why he feels the need to shout into the mic

    That's shoulder to head?

  • Registered Users Posts: 24,258 ✭✭✭✭Buer

That's one that could well have been red on another day. Far more deserving of sanction than the first yellow.

Nah, he was crouched, initial contact shoulder then slipped up, Irish lad dipped a bit. Think yellow was the right call.

    Ref sounds Kiwi Aussie

That's a great try, took a lot of determination and work at the previous ruck to wrestle that. I think we need another score quickly enough, I feel our pack are working harder than theirs and that's going to start paying very soon.

Casey putting on a Duncan Williams tour de force here

  • Registered Users Posts: 24,258 ✭✭✭✭Buer

Craig Casey is a brilliant player. Excellent prospect. But he really needs to work on his kicking.

Soft try to give back so quickly. Got narrow and should never find ourselves giving so much space on an overlap to 14 men.

  • Registered Users Posts: 6,186 ✭✭✭munsterlegend

What is he kicking into touch for with an extra player?

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,248 ✭✭✭kingofthekong

Wow Sean French in his very first attempt at defending bites in and we concede, thats pretty impressive levels of defensive incompetence

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,723 ✭✭✭✭Squidgy Black

They've been unstoppable when they get out wide.

Silly decision from Casey, did the same thing in the first half trying to kick crossfield and kicked directly into touch.

Cannot pick a player whos so defensively weak

Whatever about them being down a player, but being down a 10 you keep the game away from the forwards. Should have gone through the hands for a few phases, England's organisation would have broken down without a 10 and gaps would crop up.

More worrying however is they got wide of us easily enough with 14.

  • Registered Users Posts: 24,258 ✭✭✭✭Buer

De Glanville, Redpath, Sleightholme, Willis, Vunipola...there's some serious pedigree in that English team!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 15,238 ✭✭✭✭Diabhal Beag

Much better. 28-26 to Ireland again.

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,062 ✭✭✭blackcard

Ireland very lucky to be ahead

  • Registered Users Posts: 24,258 ✭✭✭✭Buer

Been a fantastic game and advert for the level but I can't help but think the English power will win out in the final quarter as we tire.

  • Registered Users Posts: 24,258 ✭✭✭✭Buer

Ah crap. Good position and England standing off. Really sloppy pass. Hodnett has been great but he looked extremely awkward trying to pass that. Not a distributor!

Technically we have much better skills and accuracy than England to be honest.

They are more physical and more conditioned and winning a lot of the collisions but we're dealing with the fringes better.

That's a great try all the same, excellent retention and good understanding and cohesion in the build up. We look well coached.

I think Irish teams catch up on that physicality we lack at this level quickly enough, but you can really see the difference in terms of rugby IQ and basic skills.

  • Registered Users Posts: 24,258 ✭✭✭✭Buer

    That's unbelievable. Incredibly stupid!

This Irish u20 team is Exeter like when within 10m of the line can’t remember a time during the 6nations or today when we have failed to score when picking and going

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,723 ✭✭✭✭Squidgy Black

    Holy shít that was horrible.

He got serious elevation on poor Hodnett too

That is a very odd red. Never seen the likes of it.

It was foolish but the Irish player half climbed over him.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,037 ✭✭✭Cosmo Kramer

Disgraceful. Sent off...he should be sent home.

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,062 ✭✭✭blackcard

There couldn't be anything else than a red for that. He knew exactly what he was doing when he scooped him upwards from the legs. There was absolutely no need for it he wasn't even a part of the ruck.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,742 ✭✭✭✭AdamD

    What a dirty team

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,723 ✭✭✭✭Squidgy Black

    Think that was in touch.

So crazy and another player has to finish up for rest of game because of it as well.

I'm not sure how you wouldn't give this. Nothing conclusive at all.
