Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Must be 4 cases today, the 14-day rate is slightly higher even though the case number isn't mentioned:

We had a 4 day weekend last week, so we should see a small increase into next week, as long as the numbers don't hit high 600's to low 700's we should be ok

    455 cases today & 14 deaths announced

Of the deaths reported today: 3 occurred in April, 1 in March, 6 in February, and 4 in January. They ranged in age from 55 to 90.

Of the cases reported today, half are under 30 and 77% are under 45.

I know the deaths are unfortunate but they have been low lately, most days the deaths reported are from weeks or months ago

The positivity rate is only 2.7%. Dont forget the mobile, pop-up testing centres doing walk ins. More people are being tested, a lower proportion of ttests are positive.

The pop up centre in Finglas had a positivity rate of double that....
I think we'll definitely see a rise next week, increased interaction & movement this week alone... popped up on my Facebook feed today of a 5yos b'day party.... about 30 people there I think...the sooner I get vaccinated the better :D

    Electoral Area fortnightly cases:

    Listowel: <5 cases (<5 per 100,000)
    Tralee: 28 (84.8)
    Corca Dhuibhne: <5 cases (<5)
    Castleisland: 8 (46.7)
    Killarney: 14 (47.3)
    Kenmare: <5 (<5)

Just as well that Tralee fell slightly, with small rises in Castleisland, and a notable jump in Killarney (albeit from a low base).

On the downside that means they feel that there is a relative high rate of transmission in Town. We may be relatively high compared to the rest of the County but not on any national basis.

All still fairly low on the county front:

Do you mind me asking who are they? Who told you that?

Presume it relates to HSE earlier press release, they only open walk ins for a reason.

HSE Press Release: Friday, 9th April 2021

As part of the HSE’s enhanced COVID-19 testing for local communities, 4 new ‘walk-in, no appointment necessary’ COVID-19 testing centres will open on Saturday, 10th April to actively look for cases of COVID-19.

The HSE continues to open asymptomatic walk-in centres in areas where the number of positive cases are particularly high. Increasing the number of people we test will help us better understand how and why the virus is spreading quicker in certain areas.

    Under 5 cases again today:

    https://twitter.com/gavreilly/status/1384911943673204738

Almost 3/4 of national cases are under-45s, which explains why most of the deaths reported this month have been backdated as far as January and February.

Steady as she goes over the last 3 days - only Kilkenny has a lower incidence rate:

    Local Electoral Area update:

    Listowel: 6 (20.9 per 100,000)
    Castleisland: 7 (40.8)
    Tralee: 16 (48.4)
    Corca Dhuibhne <5 (<5)
    Killarney: 24 (81.1)
    Kenmare: <5 (<5)

Sizeable drop in Tralee over the last few weeks, but Killarney has risen accordingly.

Brought my husband for his first jab to Tralee yesterday. All went well, very well organised, well signposted and all of the stewards, admin staff and vaccinators were very helpful and friendly. Congrats to them all.

On a slightly different topic I was amazed at the volume of traffic heading west towards Dingle on the N86 as we drove towards Tralee. Line after line of cars and motorbikes and even a few camper vans. I'd say the beaches, walks, mountains etc were packed. If it's like this with no inter county travel it'll be crazy in mid summer.
Was talking to a woman in the car park at the Kerry Sports Centre whose husband was getting his vaccine - they were from north Kerry - had left early in the morning, gone for a drive around Slea Head and a walk near the Blasket Centre, had a picnic near Annascaul and were dropping in for the vaccine on the way home. I was tired just listening to her description of it all!

Our 5 day moving average is 2. Its safe to say we're doing a good job down here.
I just wish the new confirmed cases would drop a bit and give us some hope of a normal summer

Only 20 cases in the county over the last fortnight - it's Tuesday numbers that are used for the local area figures each week:

    FWIW

My wife is a year older and registered the day it opened for her. Got her appointment text a week later.
The next day, I could register and did.

Fast forward nearly 2 weeks: Wife's appointment in Tralee is tomorrow. I've not heard anything since I registered. As we were trying to both go the same day for our shots, I logged into the website to see what the status of my appointment was.

    Well, well.
I in fact HAVE an appointment, for Saturday. I went through the 'consent' part of the dialog, filled in the little medical questionnaire, no problem.

I called the number to see if I could reschedule for tomorrow so we don't have to make 2 long trips to Tralee, potentially with my wife not feeling well due to the vaccine tomorrow. No chance, the laminated binder jockey said hundreds of thousands trying to reschedule and all they could do was push my appointment out.

What's so scary here, is if I hadn't decided to log in, I wouldn't have found out about my appointment. I expect this is affecting other people, nothing exceptional about my signup experience.

So, if you've signed up, I'd log in and check your appointment status. They're obviously (HSE!) dropping the ball on sending out the notifications.
