Where did he get the money to buy, down the back of the sofa

€30k inflated Street value based on maximum possible value so that the sensationalist hysterical media can have their sensationalist headline.

My guess, less than 3k cost.

    Edit, about 1k cost.

    Gardai claim value is €20/gram!!!

    That's an extortionate price.

How do we know that Ballymaloe relish isn’t a gateway drug?

S15a 30k, no previous, guilty plea, 18, weed, remorse, good family, bright future etc etc

    Suspended sentence

Nothing to see here at all really

I wouldn't have a lot of time for the Allen family because of the previous incident. However this lad is only 18 years old and has made a big mistake. He is young and hopefully he learns from this and has a good life ahead of him.

A mistake is having a few joints in the wrong place and getting caught by the Gardaí. This man, not lad, decided to import drugs. That's not a mistake. No sympathy for him.

    I'm asking a question

Your question appears to have been removed. But I heard that story too - from a very reliable source.

A 26 year old woman has been arrested with 500k (Garda value) of cannabis.

What are the chances of her name being front page headlines?

    Zilch

Don't understand the sympathy myself. There are not too many 18 year olds out there getting involved with 30000 euros worth of drugs. If I did what this lad did at 18 (or at any age) my family would have completely disowned me.

For those who say that the family should not be associated with the actions of Tim Allen, just remember, they backed him up, funded his legal fees and accepted him back into the family.

One of the most disgusting verdicts ever handed down in this country and we all know he would have sat for his conviction if he was from a less well known family.

The son had €30,000 of drugs on him. That is mid size drug dealing territory. You can expect the Golden Circle members to start circling the wagons now.

Tearful colour spreads in the Sindo, comments from 'family friends' and the usual cohorts on Marian Finucane and Miriam O'Callaghan spouting out whatever guff Terry Prone has coached them to say.

From what I recall, Tim Allen's offences (while very unpleasant) were considered at the low end of the scale. The trial judge was extremely angry with reporting of the case and accused the media of sensationally reporting it, lying to their readers and creating the narrative that Allen had gotten off scott free.

He insisted Allen got the exact same sentence any ordinary Joe Bloggs would have gotten for the same offence but said media hysteria in Ireland created the idea that he had bought his way out of a tougher sentence.

Allen did no time at all and his fine while stiff wasn't that severe given the family wealth and didn't exactly make him destitute.

he got off scot-free save for the abuse people ranted on the internet about him.

Iirc it was 977 images and the fine he got was 40k payable to an INDIAN charity, not even an Irish one

I boycott their goods because of that court case and because Darina “stood by her man”

Nothing on Rte as they love the Allen family, won’t hear a bad word about them

Sure, but any 18 year lad, even if he is an Allen, and any person, including you, is to be considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of Irish law.
If we don't have that we have nothing in Ireland.

From what I understand, there was more than one package detected in Portlaoise. The Garda did a controlled delivery on only one.

So the €30,000 comes from what they got in Cork after it was delivered + the other packages held in Portlaoise mail centre addressed to him.

According to VM1 today, she's 'devastated'. The Allen jr will be pleading guilty, and they are condemning his actions.

Personally, 30 grand worth of drugs is too large to be a 'first time' drug offence. And according to the statement, the amount he had they are claiming was for sale, not personal use. (Personal use tends to carry a lesser sentence, distribution carries a far heavier sentence/ fine).

It's strange seeing Virgin Media reporting on this-they've had more dealings with Rachel Allen (The Restaurant) in the last few years than RTE has. RTE has only had dealings with Rory, and he's not 'an Allen', really.

So, basically, in the future, the likelyhood of not being able to fly anywhere without extra scrutiny, work in US/Canada/Australia/Japan..

Does this kind of conviction limit you to Europe, more or less?

I saw her official statement somewhere else, not VM, and I thought it was simple, dignified, and honest.

It's nice to take people at face value sometimes, rather than extrapolate on what the rest of the family may have done.
She seems like an angry and concerned parent, and I hope the media will get off their back. It's enough worry for a parent as it is.

How exactly does ordering €10-30k of drugs online work?

Assuming you can't just stick it on the credit card.

If the seller has less than 95% feedback rating - avoid.

I would guess that he was in the states on a J1 or whatever during the summer and made some "contacts" . The packages came from the USA marked as clothes.

They purchached of the net someway for about €1000 or so but the street value when the Gardai reported was much higher.

From what I remember the same lad took transition year out of school and she was unsure If he was going back or not.
She said he did a tractor courses/etc and once he was working at something she was happy. He also said he had some learning disability.(It was years ago and can't fully remember)

The same lad wanted to be a formula 1 driver. You wouldn't be thinking of achieving that if you have a learning disability.

Always read the tripadviser reviews first, take away the extremely good and extremely bad to rule out the idiots then pay via PayPal to avoid credit card fraud. Send to parcel motel. Collect, make a mega joint and use Ballymaloe house as a massive smoke box, order 1000 chicken nuggets. Simple really.

Her persona is fine and nice but she's either super naive or negligent (or something) to put up with the kid posting all the stuff on facebook he has - since 13 or 14 years of age he has posted pictures of himself drinking, smoking spliffs, porny shots of cannabis leaves etc. Maybe he thought he was above the law but it's just so dumb with his family in the public eye etc...he was clearly not a big time dealer but still.

Good man. Are you proud of yourself? Rachel Allen married a man whose father was subsequently caught with child pornography. That must have been terrible (and scary) for her.
And you feel all morally superior to her.
You are obviously a nasty piece of work.
