The sad truth is he'll probably get more of a punishment than his granddad did even though Tim Allens crime was much much worse.

I feel bad for his ma, she's genuinely nice and a lady, such a pity she married into the Allens.

The accent though. Jeepers, the accent. Thats all her doing.

Presumably he ordered this on the internet. Surely you'd only get that on the likes of the dark web.

If so, there's something really ****ed up about some people in that family.

Inverted snobbery is just another form of snobbery - not saying that's your intention though.
I never hold people's accents against them. From travelers to royals, I take people as I find them.

For those who say that the family should not be associated with the actions of Tim Allen, just remember, they backed him up, funded his legal fees and accepted him back into the family.

One of the most disgusting verdicts ever handed down in this country and we all know he would have sat for his conviction if he was from a less well known family.

The son had €30,000 of drugs on him. That is mid size drug dealing territory. You can expect the Golden Circle members to start circling the wagons now.

Tearful colour spreads in the Sindo, comments from 'family friends' and the usual cohorts on Marian Finucane and Miriam O'Callaghan spouting out whatever guff Terry Prone has coached them to say.

From what I recall, Tim Allen's offences (while very unpleasant) were considered at the low end of the scale. The trial judge was extremely angry with reporting of the case and accused the media of sensationally reporting it, lying to their readers and creating the narrative that Allen had gotten off scott free.

He insisted Allen got the exact same sentence any ordinary Joe Bloggs would have gotten for the same offence but said media hysteria in Ireland created the idea that he had bought his way out of a tougher sentence.

judge is a fool - regardless of the nature of the image he should have done time .

Anyway the indo "can reveal" (at the time) the images were extreme and obtained from peado chat rooms.
the Sunday Independent can reveal that the images downloaded by Mr Allen were at the extreme end of the scale for this kind of abuse rather than the Eason's "top-shelf" material referred to by the judge who let the pervert off with community service.

Allen did no time at all and his fine while stiff wasn't that severe given the family wealth and didn't exactly make him destitute.

he got off scot-free save for the abuse people ranted on the internet about him.

Be interesting to see if RTÉ news at 9 report on this.

Not a peep on their website as far as I can see yet it’s on journal, Irish examiner, Irish indo and Irish times.

And it was the top story on tv3 news at 8 (which is over the top)

What does that mean? The kids involved were just doing oral or what the actual fcuk is the lower end of child porn?

Maybe ask those kids who were raped and abused to produce those images how it affected their lives, or at least those that are still alive.

With Rory on RTE 1 at present, it would be a strange juxtaposition to lead the news with another family member.

'Indecent images' could mean anything. Any form of nudity would be an indecent image under the law, including photos taken on a nudist beach.

The judge insisted that Allen got the exact same sentence he would have given to an unemployed nobody. He said media coverage of the case was deliberately sensational, much was made of the fact that Allen donated €40k to a children's charity but this had no impact at all on the sentencing.

The law's the law and it's his own fault for being a dope...but young people having their lives destroyed over cannabis doesn't really sit right with me; especially with the way things seem to be generally trending in the west, N. America in particular.

Even more so when you see that heroin possession is effectively decriminalised, at least in Dublin.

Is Rachel Allen an RTE employee of sorts? She's done a fair few shows in the past for them......definitely rather awkward.

Not a word so far on RTÉ. This is a farce. Most read story on Irish times Irish indo and Irish examiner. RTÉ looking after their own it seems.

    What a muppet.

Hopefully no special treatment is doled out here. This is very serious.

His name is all over the media.

If his parents were unknown there would be no mention of it in the hysterical sensationalist media.

Hence, even if he got the probation act, his trial by hysterical media punishment is already substantially more than anyone else would get.
