Ballymaloe is a gateway relish, you start of with a bit on a cracker& cheese
Before you know it you're spooning jalapeno chutney direct from the fridge at 3am.

Just once you don’t start injecting you should be ok

I suppose it could be anyone's child.

The value of the haul is high for so called "personal use" isn't it? But what would I know!

I reckon it's small enough in the big picture to warrant a suspended sentence or a fine. No one should be jailed for a small shipment like this no matter who they are, unless there is gangland involvement. He will be watched like a hawk from now on.

A lot to be said for legalisation for own use all the same.

    Nah, you're grand thanks.

So you think it's ok to support a family...a criminal family it seems, one of which has been convicted of possessing child pornography?

Thats up to you but dont expect everyone to.

And thats all from me, im guilty of thread derailing...but not possession of child pornography.

When a family is trying to be as squeaky clean and wholesome as the Allens, something is bound to go wrong.

We all know that the judiciary take a dim view of the importation of illicit fruit and veg. He'd probably do less time claiming it's ganja.

Wait a minute he sent off for it and tried to have it delivered by post?

Instead of being devastated would she not be more annoyed that he is so stupid.

Ah here, worth distinguishing between family and individual family member. Think of the opposite - a positive achievement: is a gold medallist's family all winners or is it just the gold medallist?

It's hardly a "criminal family" - that's hysterical. It's an extended family with a convicted criminal and an alleged criminal - grandfather and grandson. To hold e.g. Rachel responsible for her father in law, and e.g. Darina responsible for her grandson, lacks the most basic of critical thinking.

I know people who did similar and they wouldn't be the brightest pair.

The law's the law and it's his own fault for being a dope...but young people having their lives destroyed over cannabis doesn't really sit right with me; especially with the way things seem to be generally trending in the west, N. America in particular.

It's all OK, he comes from a well-respected family.

    What a muppet.

Hopefully no special treatment is doled out here. This is very serious.

He ordered the stuff off the internet. Slap on the wrist, just claim it was for personal use.

Ah ok, apologies Chewy - but my point still stands in relation to those who actually do think that way.

"it seems" being the word right there

please provide some proof of their alleged criminal dealings

this is no reason to tarnish the whole family for one members sordid proclivities

No apology needed, we all have varied opinions.

I'm not a fan of Ballymaloe relish, not because of Tim Allen, just becuse I think it's shyte. Nothing worse than sinking your teeth into a big lovely sambo then BOOM!....fcuking mouthful of relish like Satans semen.

I also don't think the whole family should suffer for the sake of one sick individual.

  • Registered Users Posts: 17,495 ✭✭✭✭eviltwin

I feel sorry for her, it's a private matter and having people know about it and gloat must be humiliating. I know there is a lot of negativity towards the Allen's after previous behaviour and a soft sentence but that's not anything to do with Rachel.

    Calm your tits squawker.

I don't think they are a fully fledged criminal enterprise. However....Tim & Joshua should be all the 'proof' needed tbh and to insist that I need to provide further 'proof' is just idiotic...in fact its more than idiotic.

To think these events wont have or shouldnt have an effect on the brand is ludacris. Its a family reputation.

Would I boycott their brand? It doesnt apply to me because the brand doesnt appeal to me.

Nevertheless, any more family shenanigans wont look good.

Also whatever Gardai leaked this to the press should be sacked.

For real? Boy brings into the country a drug with a low harm profile which is likely to be legalised here within the next few years.
Sounds super serious alright. Serious waste of police time and taxpayer's money dealing with the case.

It's how the darknet works - some plebs take the risk for the reward, most win that gamble and some don't.
If there weren't idiotic laws pushing people towards those avenues he wouldn't be labelled as stupid.

I was actually working in a supermarket just after the previous case.
They couldn't keep the relish stocked it was so popular at the time dispute the campaign some people had against the family.
There product range has grown since then also.

Might have been trying out a new Ballymaloe Brownie recipe.

i think if it was just this , the cannabis bust , people including me would not be too bothered - but its the previous much more serious crime , regarding child pornography , that I can't be so forgiving.

For those who say that the family should not be associated with the actions of Tim Allen, just remember, they backed him up, funded his legal fees and accepted him back into the family.

One of the most disgusting verdicts ever handed down in this country and we all know he would have sat for his conviction if he was from a less well known family.

The son had €30,000 of drugs on him. That is mid size drug dealing territory. You can expect the Golden Circle members to start circling the wagons now.

Tearful colour spreads in the Sindo, comments from 'family friends' and the usual cohorts on Marian Finucane and Miriam O'Callaghan spouting out whatever guff Terry Prone has coached them to say.
