Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Jacqueline communicates with some vampires in the other chamber via her Vitae.

"Four neonates will accompany you. Be careful...oh and Lysander we need to replenish out numbers. You've got permission to sire three more"

'Thank you my prince. Clarissa, come with me. Nostro - in case I do not return - thank you for your loyalty.'

Lysander makes his way to where the prisoners are being held and waits for the arrival of the neonates.

Clarissa and Lysander reach a large sewerage vault door after about a half hour of walking. The four neonates had joined them half way. Lysander could sense their strength. Very little, he could probably kill them with a thought.

"This is it Primogen Karpov" one of them says "We only have to release the lock..." he points to a large valve wheel "...they're a Tzimisce and Malkavian. The first is an excellent flesh crafter. The other is mad like all Malks, talks in riddles, but he killed about a third of the Ancillae here in LA and in San Francisco and San Diego"

OOC: Ancillae hasn't come up much. It means a Vampire around 100-200 years of age that has proven themselves of some worth and is mid ranking in their clan

    'Do it.'

Lysander looks to Clarissa and nods.

He begins to draw in the shadows from the sewers.

OOC: Arms of the Abyss on both when the door opens.

As the doors open two monstrous screams erupts.

"KARPOV!" they shouts as two figures move with blinding speed from the chamber behind the vault.

But muscle is slower than shadow. Lysander's shadow arms lash out and slam them back into the chamber's wall.

Lysander enters the room and smiles.

'You were looking for me I presume? Well, here I am. Come in Clarissa.'

Once Clarissa enters the room, Lysander motions to the neonates to close the door.

The neonates seal the door as quick as they can, terrified for their lives.

The Tzimisce and Malkavian are pinned to the wall. The former has the typical "alien" look the Tzimisce often go for, elongated head and green skin. He wears something that looks halfway between a medieval gown and a modern trench coat, it's a deep red. The Malkavian seemingly has no eyes and lines of incomprehensible poetry are etched on his skin. He wears fairly normal clothes, jeans and a t-shirt.

    The Tzimisce growls back.

    "Karpov...so you live"

'Here and in the flesh.... I didn't catch the name. Tell me, just how much do you all want me dead, to bring Giovanni here for my head?'

He tightens the tentacles on the Malkavian and looks at Clarissa.

    'Which would you like first?'

"Not the best pickings. The Malkavian blood is less foul, but the visions and prophecies. I drank from one before wasn't nice...the Tzimisce please Ly"

    The Tzimisce grinds his teeth.

"You're fúcked Karpov when the boss man gets a hold of you. Doesn't matter how much strength you have. You're going to pay for crippling the Sabbat in the west.

The old man wants you for that and the prophecy. He said you'd know what that meant"

    Lysander shrugs.

'He might. Then again, I might kill him. Because...hmmm.. still no name. Let's call you James...

James I don't know what level you are in the Sabbat, and frankly I don't care.

But I'm going to let you in on a little secret before my friend here eats you.

Giovanni lies. His whole world is about to come crumbling down around him, whether I live... or not.'

    He motions to Clarissa.

'Have at him then, my dear.'

Clarissa gestures her hand out and the Tzimisce's head twists off his shoulders and the hearts blood flies out. Clarissa draws the blood into her mouth. Her eyes momentarily glow white, then she shakes her head.

"He would have been no threat, heh the neonates might have been able to handle him"

    Then the Malkavian laughs.

"He dances, he dances all about, but who can dance with the shadow?"

"Cock Robin what did you say you needed to heal?"

He struggles as he opens his eyes.

"Little bit of the infection left in me, I'd need to get some pretty good human blood finely tuned to me, but that's rare now. I was a silversmith in my mortal life, so that's what I need. There's one in North Hollywood, owns a shop, but the Sabbat control that area. Pretty heavy patrols"

'Well then, I'll just have to cut off the head of the snake.'

    He winks at Cock Robin.

'If I am successful, send someone for the silversmith. I'd prefer Rob in in one full piece, not just a talking head. Would that be doable do you think my prince? I will let you discuss the finer details.'

Lysander waits for a response then makes his way to the room with Beckett and Dracula.

"Should be no problem, if you get rid of the big guy, I'm sure the small fries will leave"

Lysander heads to the other chamber. A much larger gathering of vampires here. He recognises a few faces from back in San Diego. Though he doesn't see Tara or Helena.

He quickly sees both Beckett and Dracula. Beckett is in conversation with a neonate. Her vitae is extremely weak as far as Lysander can sense. Dracula sits reading a book.

    He smiles while still reading.

"Not bad actually" he shows Lysander the cover.

    'Dracula the Dark Billionaire Prince'

"Part of my self imposed punishment for speaking to Stoker, I make myself read fiction based on my character. Stoker's is still the best, though the Mel Brooks film is pretty funny.

Erotica though? Yawn and I told Stoker we don't feel arousal. Wish I had emphasised it"

Beckett leads Lysander out and they simply stroll through the sewers.

"I won't I'm afraid. Lions den and all that. No, but I feel you must know something.

Lysander you're mutating faster than most Lasombra. That girl is a new clan founder, in time equal to the antedeluvians who founded the current clans. There was that dragon spotted in the city before I first met you. There's a prophecy that refers to you I am sure of it.

I ignored prophecy before, last time I was in this city. I was wrong. So I won't repeat the same mistake"

He takes out a piece of paper with the prophecy written on it.
    Prophecy wrote:
In the City of the Queen of Angels, by the great ocean, a serpent will fall. The one who walks to the beat of the distant drum shall fell it. She who comes to lift up the young and cast down the old. The liberator.

Then the owl shall come and demand payment from the man of shadow. For he will hold the new lord in his sway and yet need of another to bind her. He will be betrayer and redeemer.

And then the owl, the shadow, the liberator and the girl will dance

"The figures I'm least certain about are the owl and the liberator obviously. However I have learned this. In ancient Rome a large number of vampires of the most powerful sect at the time were slaughtered by beings described as owls made of shadow. I have read much about these beings. The Strix. They are not a friendly bunch, though their motives are hard to understand.

But the liberator. Lifting up the young and casting down the old. That is the philosophy of a sect of African vampires I have spoken to before."

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 52,128 Mod ✭✭✭✭Necro

Lysander looks around for anyone else in earshot, then sighs.

'You are correct. I have met the owl... and together we bound Clarissa to me. It was the only way... or so I was told.

The rest is unclear, but the owl did state they would return to claim their payment. What that is... I do not know.

How it all ties in together... I'm also trying to make the pieces fit myself. I'm the man of shadow in that prophecy.'

    "Yes and to help you..."

He hands Lysander a heart still beating.

"From the dragon. It can cancel certain powers. In most vampiric prophecies with a dragon the hero consumes the heart of the dragon at a pivotal moment. This prophecy doesn't say anything about it and maybe you won't need it..."

He pauses and looks at Lysander.

"...maybe you're not a hero in any sense, but well I didn't help the last figure of prophecy I ran into and have regretted it since. Also the only other person involved is Clarissa and I don't want to make her stronger.

Good luck. I'm off on one of my global fact finding missions. We won't meet again within the next two decades I'd say"

He turns into a glowing blue spectral wolf and darts off down the sewers.

Lysander looks down at the heart and resists the urge to wolf it down immediately. The power.....

He wraps it up and pockets it, the beating a comfort against his body.

The he returns to the main chamber to Jacqueline.

'Ok. I am ready. My prince, I am not sure taking a large party would be in any way beneficial. Dracula, Clarissa and myself will suffice for the headquarters.

However... a significant distraction to distract a portion of their forces would be... beneficial. Do you think this could be arranged without a huge cost to our own numbers? I ask you as this is your city.'

"Sure, we'll make a scene at the Central Library and the Maguire gardens across the road. Draw some of them away.

You're crazy bastard you know that?"

    'Positively insane.'

    He smiles.

'Whenever you are ready, let me know. I suspect Giovanni has already felt my presence here, it was why I kept my show as brief as possible.

That is of course... if he was telling the truth about his power.'

It's going to be one hell of a story if we survive"

'Very well. I don't suppose you have a food supply hanging around? It's been... oh about two years since I've eaten... apparently.'

Lysander wakes. He had simply slept on one of the ledges in the sewer chamber. No need to fear the sun here.

Jacqueline stands over him with a set of plans and blueprints.

"You'll want to take a look at these before you go"

Lysander takes the plans with a nod.

'Very important, indeed. Anything change about our situation tonight yet?'

"Not too much no. Gratiano isn't in the World Bank tonight, but in his own private complex in Beverly Hills. He had it built while you were missing. Six floors, the plans give what we know of the layout"

Lysander can see there are six floors as Jacqueline stated and that Gratiano's office is at the top. The ground floors are known to be staffed by vampires at least a century old with paramilitary equipment and a Tremere blood sorcerer has been spotted on the second floor. The plans reveal little else.

"Lysander, I ignored this last night, but where were you these last two years? I resorted to some old contacts who've never failed me in finding a vamp or at least confirming they were still around. They couldn't find you. Obviously you weathered this thing out somewhere"
