Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

A donut that's about four days old. But it's one of the old fashioned jammy sugary ones so it's still edible as the gallon of jam inside has kep it soft.

    A fun size milkybar.
Nothing fun about it, it’s minuscule. I might as well have had no chocolate.

    Lasagne and garlic bread .

Hat tip to the old classic.

Pity there's nowhere to get a decent lasagne here. Homemade always best though.

And garlic bread served out is never garlicy enough for me :)

Oh, it's been so long since I cooked a proper meal for myself.

I'm a cupboard item eater, food is functional.

My OH is The Chef, but he never eats my food.
And he doesn't like eating out.

Tonight will be a mix of things I buy for work lunch, so tuna, potato salad, rocket, peppers, pita bread.

    Waiting for iyer's on Saturday.

I step away for a bit and it's all lasagna and choco bars. I love lasagna but hate making it. I love reheating it though when you can find a decent bit. The catch bar......what can I say? Love it!

I’m after my first attempt at making spinach and ricotta cannelloni and it’s after turning out delish :)

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,510 ✭✭✭VW 1

I love that sense of achievment when you try something new and it turns out great!

Today for dinner I've prepped a tomato sauce using a whole heap of tomatoes a friend grew and dropped over. Added a good bit of fresh basil and the tomatoes to onions garlic and chilli, and a little grated ginger for freshness. Also some dried mixed herbs and a teaspoon of sugar as it was all a little sharp. Stuck it into the blender to make it smooth. Going to reheat it with boiled and diced chicken breast and debating whether to make some fresh pasta or go with shop bought.

Love when I've time to put a bit of love into making the dinner.

Took the crew out for lunch yesterday so herself roasted the beef we were going to have yesterday today.

Dammit man I married a great cook, mash, roast pops, peas and gravy along with a nice glass or two of red each then a wedge of Viennetta and now on the Clontarf and ginger with ice. And on it we shall stay at a euro a pop from Aldi.

Pure bliss. Especially on a Monday. I've often done it. Might do it tomorrow as I'm working from home.

Lazy this evening, had Koka spicy stir fried noodles and some Chinese snacks I found in the freezer. I had a glass of red wine left from the weekend, would have been wasteful not to finish it ;)

How does steak from the air fryer turn out? Haven't tried that before, or heard of it cooked that way.

Left it out at room temp for 30 mins as I would usually. Brushed some veg oil over both sides after seasoning with salt and pepper. 5 mins each side and it comes out medium the way I like it. Very juicy. Absolutely like a pan fried steak.

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,510 ✭✭✭VW 1

For me it was pan fried cod with a chorizo crumb, on a bed of mash with purple tenderstem broccoli.

Not cooked or paid for by me, was out with work for once!

Well where do I feckin start.:D Little G had meatballs with gravy and mash. Mrs G had a chicken wrap, spicy wedges and salad. Sweet chili sauce too. Then me and Mrs G went for a few drinkies. But before that I made a really great dish for moi.

Beef in garlic and chilli. It's tubbed off as it reheats perfectly. Brought home a portion of fried rice to go with it. Hit the butchers this morning and got the beef sliced to within an centimetre of its life. Marinaded it in baking soda, cornflour, sesame oil and water. Anyway got the wok out and fried the beef off. Took it out and the banged in the red/green peppers, onions and scotch bonnet chillis. Add garlic and chilli flakes, oyster sauce and a little mix of cornflour and water and beef back in.

Its gonna be a hot and tasty dish over the takeaway rice. I think I offended the Chinese takeaway by only ordering rice.:D

Now I must admit that chips beans and fish fingers is a classic! I remember as a kid in BHS O'Connell street, Dublin (now Pennys) they had a cafe upstairs and you got it on a paper plate with an orange cordial and bread and butter.:D

But your steak preference still disturbs me.;)
